Midnight cursed and said “Fenrir. Guard and protect” from her shadow a wolf appeared and ran after Matias. The wolf moved ahead of him and sniffed then headed for the stairs. They were lead down the stairs when the wolf shadow stopped and pointed.

Blood. A lot of it. Fenrir lead Matias into the drawing room where there was more blood and a broken window. And next to it was Dante and Scarlet, both bleeding and hurt badly. Scarlets wings looking damaged a long with her arms and legs. Looking like whip marks. And Dante had bullet holes in his chest, shaking on the ground.

Midnight frowned and leaned back to think. “Scarlets home…is it telling us where a threat is coming? Could the moth or whoever is leaving these notes warning of danger coming?”

She rubbed her face then they both heard a crash downstairs. She froze and looked at the door. “I’m not expecting them back yet…” she tried to get up but stopped, remembering her wound.

Midnight sighed and said “my phone…I wanted to see if the locations you got are related. And holding my ribs keeps the pain under control” she sighed and added “it must have been left in my jacket…on the chair over there…”

She nodded to the arm chair by the window.

Midnight frowned and said “why would he be telling you to do your job? He looked like he wanted to kill you. Why leave you notes? What is at those two locations?”

She looked around for her phone, holding her wound to keep the ribs from aching.

Midnight frowned and a shadow moved to shake a finger at him. “No name calling. Don’t forget his doing you a favor by sitting on your place. So who is the moth?”

John saw her pull up and stood up, waving at her. When she got out he said “still waiting on Serena. Kay is alright. Let’s get her in the car then I’ll go back for…” then they heard steps and John turned.

Serena walked out of the tunnel, looking like a hero out of comics with the shadows wrapping around her. Her eyes were still glowing as she walked up towards them. She looked up and said “his dealt with…”

Serena glared at him and then said “your right…your not worth the trouble…” she stepped back and said “have fun with my friends…” she turned to leave, the shadows jumped up and took forms of creatures to moved towards him. Serena walked out of the tunnel to screams and her eyes grew dark.

Serena growled and hit him again and yelled “why did they go for me! What was that crap about bringing back Nyx! Was it all crap or was there something to it!?” She was starting to lose her cool now, her eyes changing as well as her form.

John sat down with Kay in his arms, wondering where Serena was. “Come on girl…I can’t carry you both out of there…”

Midnight shook her head and said “it’s pressing on some ribs so no matter how I turn it hurts…but they are healing. It was worse before…” she sighed and said “so what are your theories on the notes? What else can you tell me about them”.

She was trying to get her mind off her pain by talking about anything else. She was worried about Dante and the others. But she was most worried about Matias. And she was trying to keep it from showing.

Serena got close to him and her eyes changed to silver as she said softly “I am the guardian of the Phoenix…and you attacked her without remorse…so your soul means little to me unless you make up for this sun by telling me something I can use to protect her…I will only ask once more…because I’ve already driven a human to madness for her sake…I’ve swallowed monsters and fiends for her wellbeing…don’t think I’ll pause to do the same to you…”

John sighed and said “she’s safe with me Sam…hopefully she doesn’t wake till I clean up…” he looked at his hands which were covered in blood. He looked down at Kay and said “I’ll protect you Kay…no matter the cost”
