She grinned at Riley's concerns over the early morning runs. "Yup yup, crack of dawn. We run like ten miles while I scream at everyone like a drill sergeant, including the birds." She couldn't keep a straigh face and eventually started giggling. "We can run in the evenings if that works for you, but you're welcome to join us in the morning too."

"Yeah, count me in, but I ate with Emily before I came down so I'm good on food." She looked over at Vanessa and called with a grin. "But I could go for some of that awesome peach tea you make if you've got any."

She pulled out her phone and fired off a quick text to Mirianda; "Vanessa's Cafe, hangout, do it.". She looked up just in time to see Kimmy a good deal closer than she had been. Kimmy placed a hair tied Alyssa'd loaned her in her palm, then closed it. Alyssa's heartbeat surged and fortunately a new arrival appeared before the blush hit her face.

"T-thanks." She put her hair up, she'd mostly composed herself before continuing. "I'm thinking about bringing a bikini this year instead of the one piece. I don't know though."

Alyssa returned Riley's hug happily. Riley, and most people, knew she was gay and she never treated her any different because of it. Kimberly shared that trait, making the two of them the most precious friends she could have. The fact that they were also pretty threatened her happy equilibrium constantly, but she'd made it this far. "I wouldn't mind coming along to pick the beast up either if you're looking for company. Emily's fed so I'm free till whenever."

Alyssa grinned mischieviously when Kimmy mentioned the upcoming fight. "You think they'll let me in the ring?" She laughed a little. "I'm about ready to start gearing up for track again this year so I'll be running just about every morning if you're up for it, otherwise we can get back into our workout schedule once we get back."

Turning to Riley she grinned. "When are you gonna give in and join us for that by the way?"

Alyssa set to work carefully distrupting the magical energies of the symbol. Wood was a little harder to work with than stone or tile, the trick was to fiddle your carving tool, delicately, into the engraving itself and slowly peeling away at it without appying too much pressure. Magic of any kind needed all of its symbology present in order to function, and the disruption of any of the lines in the symbol would suffice, so long as she didn't pick a false line woven as a trap for foolish rogues. Alyssa didn't consider herself to be foolish however, and was confident she's selected a vital curve.

She nodded at Jarvis' assessment that this was a temple to Nerull, not that anyone could see her. "Death is the last, truest silence after all, makes sense. The dead hold secrets lost to the living, danger up along with reward I suppose." She spoke quietly.

"The door at the back is detrapped, but I can hardly keep quiet going through it. Someone else should probably go first."

"Did you pack your bedding?" Emily asked as Alyssa went over her the stuff she needed for the trip tomorrow.

"Quit worrying about my trip and do your homework." Alyssa ruffled her little sister's hair. "I'm taking care of you not vice versa short shit."

Emily puffed up her cheeks in defiance. "I can take care of myself, and I'm almost as tall as you are now."

Alyssa's phone rang, looking down she saw Kimmy's smiling face on the screen. "Yeah? Sure, beats hanging out with short shit. Gimme ten or so I'll be there."

"Keep dreaming kiddo." Satisfied everything was ready Alyssa headed for the door. "Food's in the oven for dinner, set it to four fifty ok? I'm gonna head out, meeting Riley and Kimmy at Vanessa's."

"Yeah yeah, love you." Emily saw her sister off.

With August came the dog days of summer, not that she minded, her usual yoga pants and sports top breathed well enough to ignore the worst of the heat. Unfortunately that also meant carrying a purse, and she hated purses, but they didn't make sports wear that either had pockets or didn't make her look stupid. She looked at herself in a passing window, she didn't workout all the time not to display the fruits of her labor once in awhile.

The small bell Vanessa had above the door to the cafe rang as Alyssa pushed it open. Immediately her eyes fell on two of her favorite people, Kimmy and Riley. With a small wave to Vanessa she headed over to join them.

"Heya. Just finished packing for tomorrow. What's new?"
