Act two of the original three is done. It is about 100 pages and 23k words. I'll be merging the first two acts into one and the book will end up being about twice as long as originally projected.

Act 1 of 3 is done. It’s about 100 pages and 23k words and has a prelude, 8 chapters, and an interlude. I’m looking at 100k words as an approximate goal.

He was court-martialed and then dishonorably discharged from the FUP military. He escaped custody using a device of his own design, it burned through his bindings then used a flash bomb, a visor, and a Verelian-class star fighter to escape, after arriving on another part of Earth, he abandoned the fighter and decided to contract his knowledge of engines and teach at a school, with a different name - of course, Evan Burr.

I would also like to emphasis that she is not choking him. She just lifted him up by grabbing him just below the back of his head. Just wanted to say that incase there was any confusion :)
I added in students talking about her killing him and choking him because that's what probably would happen(them saying that).

Plus, making a loud entrance is probably not the best way of dealing with this particular incident. Imagine if the loud noise starteled Mishka, then Graham's neck would probably have some problems :P

You do make a valid point with the noise bit. I did that because Geoff isn't really someone who'd raise his voice over the crowd.
