@MelonHead Sup Melon, what's good in the proverbial hood?

Alright man, not much, took a short break but I'm back for now.

I think a sign up thread would be useful, if you're going to have leaderboards then you'll have to sign up, and it would be useful if you're looking to challenge someone to have all the current active fighters visible in one place. (This would incorporate into the leaderboards themselves I suppose, depending on how Mahz does it.)

The issue raised about judges in tournaments competing is a valid one, there is a possibility of subjectivity creeping in if you yourself are also competing, due to wanting a certain opponent to be defeated for example (because they are a worse match-up for your character at a later date) or even because they've beaten you at an earlier point in the tourny.

Not saying it's likely, but it is a possibility.
What, threads for general Arena admin stuff?

Depending on how Mahz does it, I guess one thread for the leaderboards.

One where members can sign up for Arena, with an easy to access list of combatants. This would also be a good place to put the 'ruleset' for Arena, for people who aren't interested in creating their own individual rules. Considering most tournaments tend to run in T1 Eden, that would probably be the one.

Maybe another separate one for 'certified' judges, so they can be contacted when they're required.

Arena Battleground thread, possibly.

And finally, maybe a general arena chat thread, like this one.

That's all I can think of, provided this is what you meant.
We can get started as soon as you people agree to something. Otherwise I can executive decision it. Though we haven't formally agreed on a GM

Eh, you're the one with suspicious pull with Mahz, I personally don't mind if you make a ruling when you think consensus is reached.

If anyone has any serious issues with the current format they should say so in the next 24 hours, otherwise it can go ahead.

That doesn't sound quite like a bonus though; It's basically just getting the same 100 points per battle, except that a tournament is a bit more taxing to get to that score. Maybe making the final round worth the double points?

So Round 1 = +100
Round 2 = +100
Final Round (ASsumed 8-man tournament) = +200

Eh? The 100 x people fought is the bonus, I'm an advocate for still receiving 100 points for every fight you win within the tournament.

(Simple explanation)
1st round won, 100
2nd round won, 200
3rd round won, 300

Beat three people +300

Total points from tournament, 600.
I think getting a total bonus of 100 X however many people you defeated is the best way to regulate it. It makes it more simple as a gauge around the board, remember that there are a lot of tourneys that spring up and people choosing their own values for the victory could skew the leaderboards. Where-as no one can complain that whatever the circumstances beating multiple people in a row deserves an added bonus, and it will regulate itself by providing more of a bonus in individual tournaments based on how many people you yourself faced and defeated.

And ultimately, someone who wins a tournament (with the average number of people you have to beat to obtain victory usually falling around 3-4) probably deserves 300-400 points outright, that will set them above the rest, but they would still be reachable within double that many individual victories (which are easier to obtain after all, not requiring the win streak.)
I think of tournaments as mostly one big fight. Hence the larger sum for winning them(preferably none for losing), instead of getting points for each fight - otherwise in an 8 man tournament that's 400 for three rights.

You've still fought and won against another person though, and considering how long your tournaments usually last it's like one fight a month, which is hardly frequent.

Someone could probably obtain more points challenging random people over that period.

And the bonus seems fair to me, defeating three people in a row is fairly difficult.
I see no reason why tournament fights shouldn't give the same points as any other, though I agree with the larger bonus for winning the whole thing.

Otherwise it's all fine with me, though it would be somewhat simpler if a loss resulted in no point loss or gain. (provided no bets were made)

As for betting items and stuff, I think that's a great idea. It encourages people to have their own continuities, and revenge/nemesis battles would be a lot easier and more common.
I'd prefer no point loss, so count my vote for that side.
One day I'll figure out how many time you have to lose. lol

Well, infinite losses, as that's how percentages work.
Still not sure I agree with losing points for losing a match, I think a loss on your record is enough. It probably won't be encouraging for new people if they lose their first two or three fights and end up lower on the leaderboard than anyone who has just started.

Otherwise it seems fine, and if the majority rule for losing points I'm not overly worried either way.
