Ugh, making me rub my temples, man. That is exactly what I'm suggesting, given I stopped talking to you and interacting with you, yet you continued to keep my name in your mouth hours following my sign-off from the issue. If you were as mature as you consistently imply you are, you would have just accepted both of my previous resignations from the issue and maybe not responded yourself? Its a two way street. But anyway, we've both got whatever were gonna get out of it. So unless you are yet again going to passively make jabs at me while trying to get the last word, then yes, we are done here.

Edit: Actually, that isn't what I'm suggesting lol. I am not trying to keep the board clean in some attempt to prove maturity. I just literally wanted you to talk about me in pm's if you absolutely had to. I just don't feel like constantly reading your remarks about me, and I feel others give even less shits about it.

Way too easy, lol.
Edit: Y'know, there was a snarky remark here, but I refuse to keep going back and forth with you fighting over the last word in a discussion I ended several posts ago. If you're absolutely required to bitch and moan about me because of some chronic ass pain to your friends, please do it in pm's. Its safe to say neither I, or anyone else wants to see it. Thank you.

The discussion ended yesterday, when I said you were free to do what you want. You didn't have to react with a shit post, so don't start suggesting your acting with overwhelming maturity and trying to keep the sub-forum clean of petty insults. Now, if you really are taking the moral high ground you won't be responding to this post, and that will officially be the end. I'm not going to take the time to pick apart your system, because it ultimately doesn't matter to me, your shitty attitude did, and I've already had all the fun I wanted goading it all out of you.

@MelonHead You've got this knack for bringing out the worst in people.

People are laughably easy to annoy, if I'm in the mood for it.

Gun is particularly easy though, in one page he's announced his departure and then swanned back in with another hate post, who knows where he'll go next. He'll never be able to change the fact he reacted with personal insults towards criticism towards his system though, which essentially broke any credibility he might have had yesterday.

@Skallagrim I apologize for high tempers, but I deal with this so much its become second nature to return unwarranted aggression. I stated several times I actually use interrupts and various rulesets I've come across. I never attacked anyone for doing something different than I was, I never said that interrupts and those who use them are bad. that's where my aggravation comes from. For the fact I was attacked for not wanting to use interrupts lol.

That said, I'll back off.

You should probably learn to separate yourself from your argument, its the sign of a huge ego. Unless you care to point out where I posted any personal insults towards you before your insult laden response or acted with 'unwarranted aggression.' I took the time to relay my criticisms of the rule set in response to your numerous assertions that I'd simply misunderstood your masterful system, and then finished with the remark that I had no further interest in debating and you, like everyone, were free to follow whatever rules you want, just not to expect me to fight under them.

You then took the time to write a shitload of sanctimonious bullshit, with insults including 'defensive shit your ilk love to do' (That's my favorite, I love a good generalization.) 'trivial understanding' funny as I made it pretty clear it was a basic understanding, going into the post-structuralist debate around what is time seemed un-useful to me, and the finale 'insecure elitist'.

Don't dish out insults and then cry when a few come back, you should probably go re-read my original post now and pick out all the abundance of insults dropped in your path, so you can maintain your non-existant moral high ground.

Also, I'll obviously be refusing your offer for a fight, even if I were fighting I can't see any enjoyment coming out of facing off against you. Maybe join the next tournament I'm in and you might get lucky, doubt it though.
God your all over the place, no wonder you've taken the easy option and bailed rather than trying to justify any of that nonsense, and you attempt to call me out on semantics.

That's exactly what I would do in a real fight, yes, if I couldn't 'deal with an attack' perhaps because I am a mortal man, rather than a superhuman warrior, I would indeed stop the gunman from aiming and pulling the trigger, rather than trying to bounce back the bullets. It's obvious you are more suited to a very high powered form of fighting that is simplistic in every sense of the word, that's fine, go do it somewhere away from me.

I can't quite comprehend the levels of hypocrisy in a post that simultaneously accuses someone of acting defensively while also announcing their immediate departure because a few people have pointed out an issue with a ruleset, and consequently why they would be unlikely to fight with it.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you weren't even willing to make the smallest concessions to the entire websites fashion of character sheet creation and then throw your shit out the pram when people question an illogical ruleset, impressive.

You don't have nearly tough enough skin for this internet deal.
Precisely, Rill. That seems fair. But I do want to address another issue that a few people in the past have had insofar as not understanding the no interrupt system. They think you cannot act until after the opponent finishes his action. That isn't true. You can prepare, reposition, or do anything while your enemy does whatever, so long as it doesn't result in removing his actions from the timeline.

just seems that Melon might be of the thinking that he's just forced to allow whatever the opponent wants to happen, to happen because he can't rightly cut his action off. Just wanted to verify that that really isn't true.

What you seem to be talking about is some pseudo middle road where you can do whatever you want so long as it doesn't nullify what an opponent has done, what you're talking about is completely disregarding the logic of Arena fighting, but feel free to do what you want. Sure, if someone points a gun at you and pulls the trigger, don't bother slapping his arm away before he has the chance, you wouldn't want to upset his sense of continuity.

Arena isn't supposed to be a pokemon battle where you stand around and allow your opponent to carry out whatever sequence of actions he wants, which regardless of your unconvincing retort is exactly what you're saying. Also, even a basic understanding of how a timeline works would suggest that any action unplanned for in a person's post would then change that timeline, effectively negating the exact sequence of events your opponent posts unless you do absolutely nothing contrary to what they say until the actions they describe are done.

Regardless, I wasn't really interested in continuing this debate as you're free to fight under whatever rules you want, but you've been namedropping me alongside 'doesn't understand' or 'misinterpreting' or other words which don't describe my criticism of the flawed system of being unable to interrupt an opponent's actions.
He’d expected it, why capture his neck if not to strike with his sword, but it was still dangerous for him. Adrian could not fathom the suicidal tendencies of his foe, but he owed him a fair chance as his blade plunged into his chest. His options for completely avoiding the incoming strike were many, but he refrained, releasing the grip on the sword and stepping back and away, his head shooting backwards and away from the incoming blade. His enemy was done for, but the sword still struck, cleaving into the Vampire’s flesh and bone as he retreated. The sickening sound of his own body being mutilated rushed through his ears with the oddly faint stabbing of pain as he took an additional step backwards and his head whipped up to find his foe disintegrating before him.

The Vampire smiled morbidly, the exposed muscle and bone of his face creating a grisly image as blood poured down his neck. He’d avoided death again, though the blade had left a mark, there were many advantages to being Undead. He watched his sword clatter to the ground with interest, as the muscle and flesh of his face began to knit itself back together, stinging with every moment, it was a good pain.

“Forgive the children,
They know not what they have done
Only death awaits.”

The Vampire retrieved his melancholy sword and sheathed it, slinging his discarded bow on his back and walking away from the crypt, he would take some time to ponder.
Rilla sums up why interrupts are a necessity right there, if someone carries out a ludicrous attack your system means exploiting it is impossible, because everything that is planned is carried out. By the same logic you might as well make defending banned, as someone avoiding or defending your attack is an interrupt, you're cutting through what they say should happen with your actions the moment you do anything other than get hit. Playing this game without interrupts would be ridiculous, and though some interrupts are also ridiculous and can be utilized as a get out of jail free card by some people (I use interrupts a lot, though I don't think I've pushed it to ludicrous levels often or at all) they are still one of the core mechanics of post by post fighting.

Frankly, if you're worried about a continuous timeline a better rule would be to limit the amount of actions allowed in one post, in its most extreme format T1 Eden does this nicely, people aren't really supposed to launch attacks and run around and launch more attacks in a single post, it's action, reaction, action, reaction. If you're keeping your character's actions nice and concise no interrupt is going to cut out paragraphs of action.

Adrian’s sword bit into the man’s arm and sheared it with little effort, the extreme physical power of the Vampire seeing the sharp edge through its target. What he couldn’t have foreseen was how his enemy did not react anywhere close to how he should have after suffering such a grievous wound, and so he was not ready to utilize his speed and maintain a safe distance. As his sword was parried by another suddenly materialised weapon he dragged it backwards reflexively and raised his left arm to defend himself from his foe’s outstretched hand.

There was some sort of aura emanating from the badly wounded man, but the Vampire had little time to rationalise this as he barrelled into him, knocking him back a step as his hand closed around his throat. Why he had chosen to attack Adrian’s throat he did not know, unless he was going to severe it such an assault was a little pointless to an Undead like himself, who was not reliant on breath. Unperturbed by the choke, he manoeuvred the blade he had dragged backwards to his right hip into a piercing position and launched it forward, while simultaneously drawing his left arm up and around in a revolution that would see the grip at his throat broken.

He plunged the shortsword forward with all his might, aiming to skewer his foe as he attempted to strangle him right through his upper torso from below.

It's more shadowed by her Nigerian and French descent, though if you look hard enough. Like I don't know if you live in the US or have ever lived here but if you're raised in an area that use to be heavily populated with natives (that aren't all dead now) then it's pretty easy to distinguish the people who are descents of the tribes and who are not, mostly because of skin color (though that can't apply with Carrie), cheekbones, hair, and nose. Sometimes height. The most obviously native trait about Carrie is her cheekbones.

I'm not from the U.S, though my character is it would really depend on how much exposure he would have to people of Native descent in the city and how prominent the features your character has are. My character is particularly observant though, so I'll just let it slide and assume he might be able to pick those traits out.
