Apparently there be hypocrites in these here waters.

I'd never let my desire to get in the last word stop me from answering a simple question, that would be stupid.
Apparently your reading comprehension is so piss poor you let your desire to get in the last word cause you to completely forget to answer the question, however I feel safe in the assumption that pretty much equates to you fucking off, which suites me fine.
Pretty sure you were the one calling in judge decisions left right and centre when things weren't going your way, pretty sure I calmly explained to you physics 101 to explain how a dodge wouldn't work. You've thrown your toys out the pram throughout this fight as it somehow slowly dawned on you that my warning right at the beginning before we even agreed on a fight was obviously correct, your character was outmatched, and evidently you were as well.

Your OOC game is so weak it's actually laughable, go look at the Divinity v Dazsos fight and learn some debating techniques so I feel like it would actually be a challenge ripping apart your logic fallacies. Now, if you've decided to quit the fight because you can't win please state as much, so I know not to waste my time on you any further, such has been alluded to and I'd like confirmation before I unsubscribe from this fight and burn it, because wasting someone's time just isn't cricket, and you have most certainly been a waste of my time.

At least I've been attempting to breath life into the fight, your character is so uninteresting it actually hurts. It doesn't think, rationalise, or do anything of note what-so-ever other than fail at taking on the weakest Mech in the republic's army.

The logical fallacy is actually so painful it hurts. So you're saying that back when Higan had his Mech fully sighted and the Pater wasn't using a shred of cover he was able to track it but now his Mech is blinded and the Pater is hiding in a corner he can't? Well no shit Sherlock. However if you look fucking carefully he's still using every method as before, because cautious defensive fighting is my preferred play-style. If Pollen had provided me sufficient information back then I would have still easily found your creature despite this condescending obfuscation because your tactics suck.

If you've been wasting my time this far you're actually just a dick and I refuse to fight you from this point on. If you wanted to flee without your character falling because you were getting wrecked that was fine, you had every opportunity to do so, but pointlessly leading me on with no intention of fighting is just pathetic, especially as you know full well I'm trying to wrap up my fights so I can get the fuck out of this toxic environment.

That being said to answer your question you can have persistent characters if you want, it's up to you whether to canonize a fight or not. It's also up to you if you use one character or many different ones, though having a few characters at different power levels is a good idea so you're more flexible to fight.

Best way to get started is look around the ranked headquarters (these are all in the arena section) or arena chat thread, check out the CS section in the ranked headquarters to get a taste of what sort of information you need for Arena fighting CS's. Once you've created a character with all the necessaries (and worked out what power you want to fight at) challenge someone or let others challenge you and work out a fair fight. Then things pretty much transpire as you expect.

Also read up on T1 Eden Era, as it's the most common fighting method used here and a good starting point.

Any other questions I'll try and answer them, though they may already be answered in the Arena FAQ.
With nothing visibly apparent Higan decided it was probably time to Evac. Though crippled somewhat his Mech was still capable of jogging, and he had a convenient path of destroyed trees to follow back to the rift, even if it were not marked by his tracking systems and GPS. He’d entertained the creature for long enough, he refused to fight it on its own ground any further. At the rift he could hold until however long was necessary before the Grent Republic would send in Heavies with the Dirty Bombs that would wipe out all life on the planet. They’d probably have quarantined the rift already, he might even have a repair crew waiting for him.

At random intervals he stopped to look and listen as before, but with far less frequency than earlier, he was growing fed up of waiting for the monster, it was probably hiding in a cave somewhere anyway.

It was probably going to take him about five minutes to jog back to the rift. He couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, though he figured he’d done enough, his low powered scout Mech just wasn’t equipped with the right armaments to put it down. Amazing that something so quick was also so durable, something with no biological weaknesses was an abomination.

To be honest, I'm getting the feeling the Pater has just fled the Arena, which I should point out means I've won. I've humoured this pointless and incredibly boring (both for me and any outsider reading the fight) fight for this long, but my willingness to continue is fading fast.

In Slimy's profile, it says it "makes no noise" in the behavior section.

That's not suitable information to warrant having the ability, not to mention it's in completely the wrong section. Nothing can move completely silently without some sort of magic, nothing of that sort is mentioned in the sheet, therefore it is not silent while moving.

If you want a character to have an ability (moving silently being a pretty useful ability and certainly not something that should be mentioned off the cuff in an inappropriate area with no explanation) it should be clearly labelled in the abilities section. The only exception is things that are considered innate, such as the fact that your character can feel, or hear or other things of non-supernatural capacity.

That being said, it's up to Pollen's digression I guess if that's enough to warrant Higan being unable to hear the creature.
@Drifting Pollen Higan is on top of a hill looking around with Electric vision, can he see the Pater yet? Also there is nothing about the Pater being particularly sneaky, certainly not silent, so with the benefit of knowing how Higan is listening is he also unaware of any sound in this completely empty forest?
Well, i won't be avoiding it completely; rather, just make it so that Gigue doesn't end up with a sword stuck in his lung. And believe the method i'll be using is within the bounds of reason.

It is ultimately a swing point for the fight, Sigurd utilizing his sword in almost a best case scenario, Gigue just about to unleash his wrestling. Fact is, if Gigue avoids significant injury his wrestling and strength will almost certainly end the fight. I don't mind though if Gigue does have a defence open to him I hadn't thought of I deserve to lose.
