Kivana woke to the dull clanging of a small iron bell accompanied by the unintelligible shouting of one of the staff. Immediately Kivana rose, her feet touching the floor before the wake up caller was through, and was fully dressed before the lazier of the girls had finished rubbing their eyes. The uniform of the orphanage was much more revealing than the black cloak and funeral shroud Kivana slept in. Her neck, collarbone and limbs were exposed, accentuating her gaunt, skeleton-like figure. She took advantage of her appearance on most mornings by hanging her densely black hair over her face and scareing the other girls who had fallen back asleep by masquerading as an undead.

Grabbing her cloak, Kivana joined the other senior girls by the door in wait to be permitted to the mess hall. She began wrapping her hands in a thin white fabric whilst listening to the conversation of the other girls. Kivana usually sat alone or on the sidelines of various friend groups. Figuring that no one would approach her, she donned the black cloak -- hoping none of the staff would instruct her to take it off -- and walked among the lower classes who were beginning to congregate in circles, looking for a dead rat or spider to animate and play with in the short time she had left before food would be served.

She stalked around the bunks, lowering her head to look under beds, desks and night-stands. She overheared a whisper or two commenting on her behavior from some of the younger girls that were curious enough to gossip but not enough to approach an upperclassman.
@Gisk Approved! This is great. Unique and fits beautifully into the setting.
Bumping this.

Omar, "The Town of Azure Steel." At least that's what you call it when you've never been here before. The locals prefer to call it "this deathtrap of a town" due to frequent deaths inside the mines. This small labor town nestles between a great mine to the south east and a peninsula to the northwest. Buildings above one story are sparsely scattered amid the town's metal-plated streets. The people of Omar are known for being tough and stuffy, but there is one day where that gruffness turns to hardy exultation.

Every year when the travelling merchant band comes by, Omar holds The Omaroa Fair where Omar's miners and smiths can sell a great deal of their stock, and the citizens can buy food, materials and numenera from distant lands. It also attracts many adventurers due to the weapons and tools made in Omar are some of the most effective and durable ever seen. There is also "The Azure Cup", a small tournament where smiths choose a champion to fight with their weapons made only of azure steel. The winning champion is rewarded with all weapons used in the tournament, and every year the winning smith sells out their lot. Among the people of Omar, The Azure Cup brings more renown to the smiths than the combatants.

Xi was concluding the cleaning of her shop which was more thorough than she was known for. She never climbs onto the ceiling to be able to dust the suspended illuminated gem that bathes this two room hutch in sapphire light. Though the twinkle it had when clean was so delightful, she questioned why she so seldom dusted it. Once all was in readiness, she removed the shop's sign from the wall and stepped out into the busy street to hang it above the door.

"The Cobble Claive: Numenera Shop" the sign reads. Xi scans the crowd of merchants and citizens, many of which flinch as though startled by the sight of her. She produces two marble sized orb from her robes and gently knocks them together creating the sound of a bell. She releases the orbs that continue banging together as if she hadn't, and shouts "Numenera Shop! Kick-knacks, oddities and more! Got any numenera you need identified? Come to The Cobbled Claive, run by the only Aeon Priest in Omar!"
@Altered Tundra The song and video are very juxtaposed in tone. I closed my eyes a couple times and the song seemed sad, but when paired with the video the whole piece seemed tongue and cheek. I do applaud the animation, such tedious hours are required to make this as smooth as it is. I'm not the biggest fan of music without the benefit of instruments, but it is very clear the artist of this knows their way around their craft.

7/10

I apologize if the next person doesn't have a taste for this kind of music. I implore you, see it to the end. It's best when played loudly!
I like mostly Fantasy and Modern themes...

Welcome! You have good taste. I'm also newer here.
Name: Xi (Zee)

Age: ???

Sex: Female

Type: Nano

Descriptor: Arachnoid

Focus: Commands Swarms
Explain Focus: Xi has a fondness for any bug she sees. Ever since her transformation into the arachnoid woman she is today, she's had an affinity for swarming creatures. She speaks with them as well as dominate them to perform tasks and errands.

"I am an arachoid nano who commands swarms."

Appearance: Xi stands at 5ft 5in on six stick-like spider legs. Her skin is a pale gray and appears sleek in bright light. Her hair falls half-way down her back in a braid, smooth as silk. Her lips and fingernails are a deeper gray than the rest of her skin, but the focal point of her face is her eyes. Solid black, with eyelids the close vertically. She most often dons orange robes -- tailors for her special figure -- that notate her respected rank as an Aeon Priest.

Backstory: Born in the Kingdom of Naravene, Xi grew up with a fascination with the Numenera. She studied the relics of the past in her free time until her mother and only caretaker passed away at the beginning of Xi's adolescence. With nothing left in her hometown for her, she set off to join the ranks of the Aeon Priests. Her experience was typical, until it came time for her pilgrimage, where she became trapped in a long forgotten ruin for an uncountable number of days, with nothing to do but speak with the bugs that would fly in and out. She was able to implore the help of a brood of sentient spiders that found their way to her, but only after being transformed into shape she takes now.
