"Self...destructed....?" Jacob stopped his fork halfway to his mouth. "You can....do that? Jesus christ, I'm still getting used to this whole Wanderer thing, and now we got people making themselves into living bombs?" When Jade mentioned that it was probably the same person who'd speared her, his face got a little pale. "So....these guys...they're that powerful? Fuck. I mean....that night in the warehouse was bad enough with two of them, but...they've got a fail-safe self-destruct switch now? This is crazy. No, this is so far beyond crazy I don't even know what it is."

"And speaking of Carolyn, I don't remember seeing her. It's possible I completely blocked her out. It's also possible that I have no clue what happened after I teleported out of that hellish place. I was unconscious the second I hit my bed."
Scenario 24

Jacob walked into the cafeteria, a dark look on his face and dark bags under his eyes. His steps were slower than usual, and he wasn't even wearing his jacket. Not only was that odd for him, but he found himself unconsciously reaching for his water bottle once or twice, only to sigh at the realization that he didn't have it with him. Grabbing a plate and absolutely stuffing it with pancakes, sausage and eggs, he sat down at the same table as a few familiar faces, nodding sluggishly. "Mornin', everybody. Is it just me, or was last night...a damned nightmare....?" Stifling a yawn, Jacob started taking bites of his food, his eyes trying to close themselves without his permission. He hadn't gotten a decent night of sleep, and his body was aching from using as much energy as he did to heal the wounded people.

"Might not be my place to say it, but...I'm too damn curious at this point. Do any of y'all know exactly what in the hell even happened? That...that was just too fucked up..."

Jacob returned to the injured persons, nodding in acknowledgement to his healing companion. "Just a trigger-happy civilian who figured he'd make things even worse for human-wanderer relations. As if that were possible." Scoffing, he bent down in front of the woman whose arm he'd set and sighed, shaking his head. "Well, I'm back. Time to fix up that arm of yours, tired as it might make me. I have a feeling things are gonna get ugly here soon, so it might be best for me and my buddies to get out of here before the cavalry arrives." Pouring an abundance of energy into the woman's arm, Jacob stifled a yawn as he was starting to be drained of energy.

Getting up after finishing his work, he smiled down at his patient. "I'd still get that checked out by a medical professional, but you should at least be able to move it about without doing any more damage. My work here...is done." As he finished the sentence, he disappeared, arriving outside of the Academy gates, and returned to his dorm, his breath heavy and ragged from exhaustion.

/Jacob has left Scenario 23/
Johannes followed the illustrious procession calmly, each step measured and perfectly executed. It would hardly do well for somebody in his position to mess up a public welcoming parade. He'd gotten lucky to be blessed by Lun, and he made sure to make good use of her gifts. Whether he was hunting the wicked, or fighting much more monstrous foes, he made good use of his abilities. However, standing behind the Children of the Dark Sun made him uneasy, perhaps for the first time in many years. Their doctrine was one he held strong judgments about. He refused to see any group or person that wished to rule the world as "good." He had a hard time seeing monarchs as such, as well. Power was a dangerous thing, and nobody was immune to the corruption it caused.

He wasn't surprised in the least that he'd received an invitation from the Queen to participate in this special audience. As far as he was aware, there were perhaps three or four other of Lun's Chosen here, and one of them was a young lady of not even twenty years. Graciously accepting the invitation, he went along with the others who had been offered the same privilege, noticing one distinct individual being escorted by a group of Inquisitors. Whoever-or whatever- it was must have been powerful beyond measure before their capture. The mask this person wore intrigued the Watchman, and at the same time it made his body itch. It made him want to fight-to kill, even. Forcing his arm to stay by his side, he turned away from the mask-wearer, the muscles of his face contracting in discomfort. This situation was ugly as is. Did they really need this person here?

As they entered the dining hall, Johannes instinctively took a knee and brought his fist to his chest before standing again and removing his helm, finally revealing the telltale signs of his gift. Few needed to know who or what he was. If you did, your life was going to be very long, or very, very short, courtesy of his sword and shield.

Taking a seat, Johannes listened patiently to the Queen's address, his brow visibly furrowing at her speedy departure and less-than-ideal appearance. Part of him was genuinely concerned, but that was more so for the people of Aeribis than the Queen herself. A sickly, pale and fragile woman could hardly run a nation properly. Beginning his meal, he spoke up. "I understand that we are expected to...work with one another. That idea is difficult enough for me to reconcile as is. But...whomever this individual here is," He gestured to Yithare, "I am greatly discomforted by the fact that he is chained...and has a guard the likes of which I have truly never seen. I must ask before I come to regret it: what...exactly am I looking at here? The others around me I can more or less understand. But this character is an enigma, and that fact disturbs me greatly, loathe as I am to reveal such a rudimentary weakness."
Yay for reboot. Jacob WILL return!
There was a point when I planned on doing so, but that ship sailed a long time ago.

And don't worry too much, I'll understand if I say something that's just plain inaccurate and it rubs you the wrong way.
I haven't, no. Just a subpar JROTC unit. I won't be so presumptuous to say I'm depicting an Army Ranger perfectly, but I just hope I'm not making an ass of myself at the very least.
Shrugging, Jacob sighed, then laughed a little. "Just trying to repay ya the favor, but if you don't want it..." his voice turned flat to mirror her cold words. "I got more important crap to take care of." Going back to the injured people, he went to the woman whose arm he set. "Hi, I'm back." His voice was still coming out cold and flat, but he didn't bother to change it. "I'll take care of your arm right now, just hold still." Grabbing the spot where the bone had broken, he let a surge of energy flow into the wound, magically repairing her arm. "That there should do you good. It's not back to 100%, so you should still get it checked out later by a real doctor, but it'll move and work proper."

Moving on to the next patient, Jacob silently wondered why he'd even bothered. Guess I still feel like I gotta help people or some crap like that. Oh well, the therapists said it'd pass at some point. Long as I ain't drinking the pain away every night, I'd say I'm doin' pretty damn good.
Here as well.
