Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Shiva raised an eyebrow to the officers as they greeted each other, but it was only a moment before her attention stayed on the 5th echelon across from her. Sizing him up, he didn't seem to give up much in his expression, as was often the case. There was one thing though. The twitch of his eye as it read her tattoo meant that the prospects weren't good of this one being reasonable. Well, so much for getting her hopes up.

She dropped her bag and straightened into a similar salute. "Shkitliktuit Tasthagk, 1st echelon, Sovereignty Medical Corps. Call me 'Shiva' if that's a mouthful, sir." She remained standing to attention for as long as required, but after dropping her salute, she hoped to get on to whatever briefing was to be had in this new squad. If she was going to be working under an ArmSpecWar 5th, she wanted to know why as soon as feasible.
Nodding, Sabine bit at the inside of her mouth and glanced at the bow again. This Okun-Jei was completely different opponent. She wasn't expecting someone who would be scared to fight her. At least he didn't seem to be too aggressive like Wutanxeex. Sabine didn't know how to respond. To be honest, she didn't want to hurt Okun-Jei at all, but the terms of the trial were laid out such that she would have to. Well, if he gave up before Sabine was too affected by the poison, all the better. "I couldn't beat Wutanxeex either." Sabine lowered her head and replied, her volume requiring Tunxeek to lean in to hear her properly, "He kept hitting me when I was knocked over. Please do not do that."

"If he still cares about you like that, I think he will forgive you eventually." Janius said reassuringly. If Zharanthixil had decided to stay angry at Kaleeth, he likely would not be talking to her at all. "Even if time won't heal his old wounds, it will heal this one." Janius popped the last shred of his breakfast into his mouth and spoke a conclusion through his mouthful, "That's how people are."

In a teasing manner, Janius took his time with his last mouthful chewing until the meat dried out in his mouth. When he finally swallowed, he stood up and smiled at Kaleeth, extending a hand to help her up. "Alright, let's walk. We'll just need to go somewhere in the marsh out of sight for a few moments."
Sabine glanced at Tunxeek while he translated. It was strange, this boy appeared more nervous than she was. Sabine greeted him back with a "Hello," and maintained her curious stare. Her eyes wandered to the bow in Okun-Jei's hand and she felt the need to ask about it. "Will you use your bow in the fight?" Tunxeek obliged to relay the question in Jel.

"I suppose that is understandable. There has been a lot going on." Janius said, the corner of his mouth rising in a half-smile at Kaleeth's eating pace despite his warning, "I do wonder whether Leaps is a boy or a girl, however. It's been strange referring to it as 'it' this entire time." Janius was almost finished with his breakfast, but there was time for one more question. "On the note of your father, I've noticed he's tried to talk to you some more. Is he still angry?" Janius turned his head to Kaleeth properly with a sympathetic expression.
Crisis averted! G'night Elite.
As soon as he spotted Sabine, Tunxeek smiled and waved in greeting. Glad to see him, Sabine raised her hand as well. The boy Sabine supposed she was set to fight was there as well. For some reason he had a bow, which Sabine found strange. Perhaps he was practicing his archery for hunting before they arrived. When they approached, Sabine's opponent looked over her as curiously as she was looking over him. He nodded, presumably in greeting or in response to something Meesei said. Sabine nodded back. Tunxeek looked at each of their faces, then spoke in Cyrodilic, then Jel, "Good morning Sabine. I can interpret between you if you would like to speak with your opponent." He looked over to the boy, "This is Sabine, she will be fighting you. I can translate if you would like to say anything to her."

The first thing Janius did was put his hand on Kaleeth's arm to slow her eating and to slow her torrent of questions. "You won't want to eat too quickly, I insist." He said through a chuckle, "You'll see soon, it'll be fun. You don't have to bring anything if you don't want to." Janius took another mouthful of breakfast and left Kaleeth in suspense. The rain may or may not be a problem, depending on a few things. "In the meantime, I was wondering, have you talked to anyone about Leaps-On-Elves yet? Are you allowed to keep it?"
"Three minutes early, we're making good time." Desrick looked up from the clock on his datapad, "Eyes up, Tasthagk, end of the line."

Shiva looked up suddenly, having dozing off despite not wanting to sleep. The entire trip took a solid ten hours straight. Even with how far FTL travel had progressed, stops at refueling stations, other errands Desrick had to run as a cover for picking Shiva up, and border clearances meant that every couple of hours or so Shiva could look out the window and see another portion of space, few of which she recognised. Desrick himself wasn't much for conversation, but Shiva wasn't expecting him to be. It seemed as if he was constantly doing some kind of paperwork with that datapad he held. Unbeknownst to Shiva until the latter portion of the trip was the truth of the matter. Desrick had recently learned human numerals and was trying his hand at that old grid puzzle they had. What was it called? Suchotu? It just looked like a mess of symbols to Shiva.

"Finally," Shiva breathed, retrieving her baggage. She couldn't get up fast enough to stretch her legs again. After a quick moment securing her holster around her waist and shouldering her bag, she followed the Desrick and the pilot to the gangway. The door lead out to a hangar that was of familiar design, but made from strange materials and with a clinical reflectiveness. This one of course had more vessels in it than her origin.

Desrick held himself straight and walked with authority out onto the deck. "Welcome to Pax, Tasthagk. The heart of the assembly." Shiva hardly had any time to look around before Desrick's tone changed. "Uh oh."

Shiva looked at the back of his head, standing behind him. "Something wrong, sir?"

"Nothing," Desrick turned his head to one side to speak to Shiva while keeping his eyes ahead, "Just an old friend."

It was then that Shiva noticed the other two Masulu men walking towards them. A 5th eschelon and another 10th eschelon by the looks. She didn't recognise either of them any more than she did meeting Desrick. Shiva prepared to lower her bag and salute if needed. Desrick's approach was less serious.

"Didn't think I would see your ugly mug so soon." Desrick said, looking amused. He looked over to the soldier accompanying him, "Is this 5th Yuyun? Good timing, I brought his squadmate."
Again, Sabine nodded. She liked that idea. Getting a look at her opponent beforehand might help her discern if he was anything like the last opponent, if she should try and beat him quickly, or risk laying traps and taking more time for the poison to set in. It was something that had been on her mind for the last day or so. Reflecting on the last fight helped her to learn a lot.

Janius traced Kaleeth's eyes over at Leaps as well, watching the lizard rip into its breakfast with enthusiasm. They had since worked out how small they needed to cut the meat in order for it to be edible, so Leaps had no trouble gobbling everything up. "I was actually thinking of doing something else. A surprise." Janius replied, glancing at Kaleeth in the corner of his eyes for a moment, "It won't exactly be a hunt, or anything else we've done, but... seeing as our time is running out, I thought I might..." Janius squinted his eyes, trying to find the right wording, "... give you a glimpse into my life. You have shown me yours, after all." Janius smiled, intentionally staying vague, "After breakfast of course."

Not too long after, Sabine had finished her breakfast. She ate carefully, so as to avoid feeling sick, but felt energetic as she walked to the trial area with Meesei.
Hmm, I realise now that I didn't give much to respond to in my post. I had something planned to do the night after the trial which involved Zharanthixil's skulls, but I'm thinking I might retroactively move that back to last night if there's not much to do. What do you think?
Ah, I see.
Sabine nodded when asked about her potions. As for what she wanted to do before the trial started, she looked to one side in thought. If it were up to her, she would have just liked to get to the trial straight after breakfast. The longer she had to wait only made her anxiety worse in these situations, no matter who her opponent was. Sabine couldn't think of anything to do in the meantime, but she still wanted a distraction. Finally, she shook her head slowly and answered, "I don't know."

"Oh, thank you Kaleeth," Janius was pleasantly surprised to have his breakfast brought to him. He had to take Leaps in both hands before the creature ate his portion, causing him to laugh quietly, but once he held his food safely out of its reach, he was able to thank Kaleeth properly with a small kiss. "How are you this morning?" Janius asked..
