Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

"Yes, of course, I'll help however I can. I'm sorry to hear that you can't stay for very long, but I understand." Ariel looked a little disenchanted, but her tone of voice remained enthused. "Specimens from the inner marshes are incredibly difficult to procure, so any apothecary in the city would give you a good price for them," she placed the fingers of one hand to her chest, "not to mention myself. Though, I probably couldn't afford them all at once depending on what you have, so you might need to shop around. I can show you to other shops that would give you a fair price." Ariel then looked to Sabine with a smile, her chin dodging Leaps' snout as she turned her head, "And Sabine, you may use my equipment if you like, but I still have some orders to fill by the end of the day, so I'll need some components for a short while beforehand. Also, I have some spare glassware that you can take with you to replace what you lost. I can't spare a full set, but it should help you."

Even this amount of generosity was more than Sabine had expected. Her regular pastime of alchemy had been severely limited with just what she had over the past few weeks. Decent alchemical glassware was so prohibitively expensive that she never thought she would get any replacements until she spent time saving for them. Her expression was understandably wide eyed and grateful. "Really?" Sabine asked quietly. As soon as Ariel confirmed with a nod, Sabine leaned towards her and hugged her once more. "Thank you Ariel!" The movement produced an annoyed chirp from Leaps as Ariel returned the hug.

"That's quite alright, dear sister. It would be a shame to let them gather dust in a cupboard," Ariel said. Once they pulled away from one another, Ariel addressed Meesei once more. "Now, I believe I have a bit more time before I have to get back to the shop, so if you like we could order a meal, or spend some time searching for lodgings. I daresay it will be much easier than festival time." Ariel carefully tested Leaps' weight, then slowly lifted the hatchling up and handed him back to Kaleeth, "I would suggest getting rooms here, but I'm not sure if they are the absolute cheapest. If we can find one of the brothers somewhere, they might be able to direct you to something more suited to a shoestring budget."
Heading to a birthday party. G'night!
"You know what? You're absolutely right. It was silly. I will talk to Rukeewei as soon as I can." Ariel sighed, "Sometimes the stress of running businesses leaves our minds without rational thought." Ariel looked to Ahnasha and Fendros and showed a grateful smile, "Thank you." Ariel blinked, then frowned and focussed on Ahnasha's hand. She was missing a finger. She was about to speak up about it, but it looked as if it had healed over. It was probably something to do with their task for Hircine. Given the apparent sensitivity of that event, Ariel didn't press the issue for now.

Trying to skip over the pause, Ariel looked to Meesei. "So, how long are you going to be staying for? If you need any supplies that I can provide, I would be happy to give you a discount, but I might need to prepare them for you fresh."
As Janius handed Leaps to Kaleeth, Ariel thought about Janius' previous behaviour with her, and likely anyone woman he met. Ariel couldn't hold back a wide smile of amusement at the event that this Argonian tribal girl had garnered a more permanent affection from him. She must be quite special. The question of how Kaleeth had become a lycan was something Ariel was curious about. She hoped that it wasn't complacency on Janius' part, but had Ariel known that Kaleeth was a different kind of lycan entirely, that theory would have quickly become false. Ariel couldn't really think of a polite and discrete way to ask about it before Leaps took an interest in her.

Holding her previously shocked hand, Ariel laughed uneasily and responded, "I'm quite fine I think. Leaps is an energetic little thing, isn't he?" In that moment, Leaps managed to aggressively twist himself free of Kaleeth and scramble across the table to her. Ariel held her arms between herself and the hatchling, but Leaps only went far enough to sniff at her hands. Ariel opened her scrunched together eyelids and let out a very nervous laugh. Leaps chirped back at her and ran to jump on her front, causing her to let out a small shriek of surprise. Leaps clung onto the front of her dress rather harmlessly and after a few seconds, Ariel's previous fear changed into what was mostly just a tolerance. She was as still as a statue, though.

"Rub him under the chin, he likes that." Janius suggested, grinning at the scene.

Ariel shakily held out one finger and began to stroke Leaps' chin as Janius suggested and eventually her face curled back into a smile. Once Ariel was comfortable enough again, she looked up at Kaleeth and compared the pattern of her armour to that of the wamasu hatchling holding onto her dress. "What an extraordinary turn of events. I am glad things worked out."

This time it was Sabine who wanted to ask a question. "Ariel, what did you and Rukeewei argue about?" The previous mentions of Rukeewei had left her curious, but not quite with the same social pressure to avoid awkward topics.

Ariel's smile faded and she shifted to hold Leaps more steadily as he inspected her and the light perfume she was wearing. "Oh, it was nothing really. It just started off with the entire previous week not having any free time overlapping, and then he insisted that I stop working so hard, then I got angry and insulted his inn, then he got angry and insulted my shop. It was all quite childish. You need not worry, Sabine."

Sabine glanced to Fendros and Ahnasha, then looked to Ariel again. "Ahnasha and Fendros have argued before, but they make up for it. They say sorry to each other and understand."

"I know, I should just go and apologise. I'm just...I'm just worried he's still upset about it." Ariel said, facing Leaps as if she was talking to him.

Being the inexperienced girl that she was, Sabine didn't have the answer. Across the table, Fendros knew that Ariel wouldn't know unless she tried, but he would be surprised if Rukeewei was still upset about something so small. In fact, he was still surprised at how much of a fuss was being made about the whole thing. Fendros looked at Ahnasha, glancing down to Rhazii for a moment and back up to her. "We don't usually stay upset about that kind of thing for very long, right Ahna?" Fendros said, rubbing Ahnasha's shoulder.

Janius leaned back and was about to put it a bit more bluntly than either of them, but it sounded like Ahnasha and Fendros had this well in hand.
Shiva has a PDA that she used to see the drone feed right before the first firefight. She would use that if the comms weren't jammed.
Anya waved Ezri off as she rose from her seat. It seemed as if the American sounding Russian was distracted by something herself. At least she didn't seem to find anything wrong with potentially lopping off one's limbs to be replaced by machinery. Perhaps Ezri hadn't really thought about it as hard. After all, she probably wasn't thinking about joining the WREC program herself. Anya, on the other hand, saw the potential to finally get a one-up over her brother after all the shit that went on in their lives. But was it really worth just that? It could be a chance to pioneer a new level of warfare, fighting for the good of all of humanity. How could Anya pass the opportunity up? She went back and forth in her mind while she finished her breakfast without any immediate conclusion. She decided to give herself to the end of the day to decide whether she wanted to volunteer. The new guy across the room had this weird look that was distracting her too much right now.

Over in the gym, Luc listened and nodded to Burkley. He expressed his sympathy in his own way, but probably not in the most sensitive way. He started by sucking in a breath through his teeth, "Ooh, losing your squadmates in your first firefight, that would have been rough as sandpaper. Well, you'd have to have survived for a reason, right? Just as well we have a survivor like you heading squads in this organisation." Regardless of Burkley not talking any further, it didn't discourage Luc from running his mouth like he normally did. "You know, I'm Belgian, but most of my upbringing was in Britain as well. Boarding school, you know? Didn't stop me joining the army. Had only one UN deployment to Africa, but it was a long stretch. People there don't give you much hope, so you just got to come out laughing, like I did. Haha!" Luc's tone seemed to give off an inhuman lack of empathy, but his past experiences were taken rather differently than most. "Lost a couple of colleagues as well. They were arseholes, mind you, but I wouldn't wish their deaths on anyone. One guy got surprised by an IDE, nothing could have saved him. The other guy was our mutual superior, he hung himself after a while because he adamantly refused to see a therapist or even so much as the damned chaplain about his survivor guilt." Luc sounded more annoyed than sorry, "He would have been kicked out of the army after a while with the way he went on. Gives you some perspective. Some wounds you just can't see yourself until you feel them rot. Knowing that is what makes real survivors, right sir?"

It was only at that point that Luc realised that Burkley wasn't listening and hadn't been for a while. Luc just nodded his head to one side and continued jogging. He understood when some people got fed up of talking.
"Ah, the Imperial City. Yes, I believe there are an abundance of trading vessels that head that way from here. You might find it worth your time to browse around the docks for which ship you take, as some are...safer than others, in a variety of ways." Ariel raised her hands, "But that's just hearsay I pick up from other merchants, I've never so much as boarded a ship since sailing from Vvardenfell." Ariel looked to Sabine again, "Sister, do send me another letter when you get there. I love hearing about what you're up to."

Sabine nodded happily. "If I know for sure where we are going next, I'll tell you in the letter. You'll send one to me, will you?"

Ariel grinned again, "Of course." Having no shortage of further topics of conversation, Ariel moved across the table to a still nervous looking Kaleeth. "Kaleeth-Rei, do you speak Cyrodilic? I don't want you feeling left out," Ariel leaned her elbows against the table and smiled reassuringly, "Tell me about yourself. How has travelling with the group been? It must quite the experience, coming from an Argonian village."
Fair enough. I'll just edit for him to call out positions.
I finished my exams for the year, so I'm pretty stoked. You?
The mayhem in the corridor proved that the enemy may not have been outnumbered, but they were definitely outgunned.

Shiva continued to cover the advance of her allies, shooting at anyone brave enough to make themselves apparent. One particular group of enemies was completely cut down by Rareth's teleporting ambush. Shiva only spotted spatters of blood and some traces of movement, but it was a telegraph enough for the last of Rareth's stumbling foes to line up just right with her sights. Without hesitation, Shiva shot the enemy Rothian dead before he knew where the plasma hitting him was coming from.

Bit's own brand of suppression was more than welcome as the noise of high-explosives entered the mix. The scramble for better cover from the enemy troops gave Shiva opportunity enough to lift her weapon off her cover and sprint for a crate that was next to the rest of her squad. She now had a better view of the enemy, but needed a little less attention drawn to her before she could take any more reliable shots. She still had her own HE grenade on her harness, though. Perhaps if they could keep up the momentum...

"Shuo! Where are they?!" Shiva shouted in lieu of radio communication, "Tell us where they're bunched up!"
