Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Time for work. See you later!
Ariel smiled and nodded, feeling a burning sensation well up in her eyes. She was aware that she might not see Sabine again after tomorrow, but was trying to put off her emotions until she got to the docks. Hearing that she was an integral part of Sabine's recovery, however, was not only validating, it felt like a true forgiveness. By the time Meesei finished explaining about a possible method of long distance communication by enchantment, Ariel's eyes had reddened and she blinked a tear from her eye. She cursed herself for not being able to hold back.

"Meesei, that would be wonderful, but I understand. Just make sure to write letters at the very least," Ariel approached Meesei and gave her another hug. She sniffed and held her tightly, "And continue being a wonderful guardian for my sister." After a few more moments, Ariel pulled back and held Meesei's upper arms with a sad smile. "It means a lot to hear that I helped her recover." Ariel brought the back of one hand up to her nose, sniffed again, then stepped away. "Go on, I'll save my tears for tomorrow. I will see you later, Meesei." Ariel made a small gesture with her other hand to seemingly shoo Meesei off. "Goodnight."
The night had been very enjoyable, but it was time to head back to camp. Once again, the pack seemed to nod in agreement to Meesei when she gave her thanks to Rukeewei and Ariel. Ariel returned Meesei's smile as everyone began to slowly stand up from their chairs. "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I will put a sign up at my shop saying that I am out and walk down before you leave." Ariel walked to Meesei and gave her a hug, "Thank you all so much for coming. It was nice to catch up."

As the protracted farewells permeated between Rukeewei, Ariel, and the pack, Janius made sure to keep Kaleeth steady by keeping an arm around her. There were handshakes, hugs and kisses goodbye before, one by one, the pack began to secure their baggage again. Fendros made sure to quietly pick up the peacefully sleeping Rhazii from the spare room once he was carrying enough and accidentally woke him up. Some soothing coos and reassurance from Fendros was able to calm him before too much noise was made.

Sabine's goodbye hug to Ariel was especially long, but she was able to let her go after a while. "I will see you tomorrow, sister."

Ariel ruffled Sabine's hair and gave her a warm smile. "See you tomorrow," she repeated.

Soon enough, the pack began to funnel out, waving goodbye as they did. Janius found that the biggest hazard to Kaleeth right now appeared to be tripping over her own dress. She really wasn't used to this clothing.

Ariel followed them to the door, but noticed that Meesei was staying behind for some reason, looking at her. Ariel glanced to Rukeewei next to her, then craned her neck curiously to one side, looking at Meesei again. "Is there something you needed, Meesei?"
The rush down the hall was truly flying by the seat of the squad's collective pants. Shiva flipped her bipod back against her weapon and sprinted as fast as she could, only stopping momentarily at a doorframe to send some plasma back towards their pursuers. The explosion was such a shock that it almost made her lose her footing, but they were safe for now.

The door to the data centre was breached and secured quickly, and barring any surprise assaults, it seemed as if they would have the time to deal with their objective. Shiva kept her weapon raised at the civilians while Rareth went for the terminal. "Understood." She turned her attention to the civilians who weren't in the corner, "Alright! You two! Hands against the wall, now!" As soon as they complied, Shiva put her assault weapon away and switched to her pistol so she could deal with them more easily. With the others around as cover, they were able to search frisk each hostage for any weapons and put them collectively in a secure corner of the room. They weren't in any position to escort them to safety just yet, but that wasn't their primary objective right now.

"Rareth, how long to we have left on that jammer?" Shiva asked.
"Those descriptions are somewhat exaggerated, but not for the reasons you might think." Janius placed a hand over his chest, "I, myself, visited the Imperial city often, as I had family and friends there, but my residence was Bravil, before I started travelling of course." It was then that Janius realised that he was still holding onto his empty wine cup and placed it back on the table as he spoke, "The Imperial city is the biggest city I have ever been to. It is split in to a number of wall-separated districts that, in and of themselves, are almost as big as a conventional city. The entire thing, save for the docks are protected by rings of tall, pale, Ayleid walls that have stood strong for eras. The White-Gold Tower in the centre is so tall that you can see it from leagues away. A great way to keep your sense of direction when in the city itself." Janius dipped his head in one direction, "Unfortunately, while there are many guards, there are also many dark alleys and sewers. Crime still operates in the city, as it is much harder to enforce than in Thorn due to the size. On top of that, there is plenty of poverty as well as wealth." Janius gave a reassuring smile, "I would say that it is a great place to visit, there are so many things to see that I cannot begin to describe them, but you just have to be smart about where you go while in the city to stay safe, and make sure you don't get lost."

"I wouldn't mind seeing the Imperial City, myself," Ariel added, "It seems a grand place, even with what you described, Janius."

Fendros was on the last of his wine. He tipped his cup to emptiness at his lips before talking. "What Janius says is true, as far as I remember. There are occasionally festivals there as well, actually. My parents would travel from Cheydinhal to sell goods in person, occasionally. From what they told me, the city is easy to navigate if you stay on the main roads, but going into side streets quickly leads you into a maze."

Sabine finished her last mouthful and breathed a lengthy yawn. Sitting still for so long had made her sleepy. She glanced over to the door, behind which Rhazii was sleeping and considered napping with the cub while the others talked. Even though she enjoyed catching up with everyone, she didn't know how much longer the night would last.
The living dead walks, beasts of legend return, Djinn of ancient lore present themselves again, but what has gotten Burkley excited was dinosaurs? Angus raised an eyebrow and was paralysed with confusion for a few moments, but in the end, shook his head and decided not to rain on his CO's parade.

Debrief was not especially eventful. No one was told much of what they didn't know or expect, except to clarify exactly what the last actions of the rookie sniper were. Din had, in fact, not been under much pressure at all, but in that moment he had just snapped and decided to charge. It was a tragedy, but apparently the history of his mental health had made this outcome a possibility. Luc simply felt validated in his opinion that the guy threw his life away. Angus thought it strange that Din was on the battlefield at all, but it was at least a bit comforting that his death was never really his fault. He did all he could, after all.

Immediately after debrief, the entire squad sat up in eagerness to get on to other things. Luc gave a cursory glance to Smith's standard augments as he left the room; the day-to-day cybernetic limbs as opposed to the huge WREC suit that he wore before. He knew where he was going. Angus went straight down to the labs to check up on Draco.

Luckily for Draco, it seemed that the Dr Semyenov was open-minded enough to consider the mercenary as a potential resource, so Angus didn't really need to say or do much at all, not that his opinion would have carried much weight as a simple soldier. He and Burkley watched the negotiations to their conclusion. Everyone had a feeling that this deal would kick the advantage in ParaCom's favour, at least for now.

Luc reached the infirmary as quickly as he could. Anyone who spotted him couldn't tell whether he was angry or worried, but the truth was somewhere in between. A nurse on duty advised that Anya was in recovery at the moment as was currently sleeping, but Luc insisted on seeing her anyway. The sight he saw was honestly quite confronting. Anya lay on her back on a clean bed with nothing covering her but a patient's gown. On her pale sleeping face was a clear plastic mask that made her slow breathing slightly audible, with a plastic hose extending to a mechanism nearby. A number of instruments surrounding the bed kept track of her vital signs and made their various beeps to report activity. However, what really widened Luc's eyes was that Anya's limbs were missing. They had been replaced by polished metallic stumps that didn't seem to have any discernible transition into her flesh except by the sore red skin that bordered them. They were clearly a part of her body now. Each that Luc saw had flecks of shiny joins that evidenced their purpose in interfacing with cybernetics. It was honestly one of the most horrific things he had ever seen happen to a family member. "Anya, what the hell have you done?" Luc breathed in French, before turning to leave.

"Luc," a weak, clearly drugged voice sounded behind Luc and he stopped, but didn't turn around. Anya barely opened her eyes, but she knew who she was talking to. After an uneasy breath in, she continued. "Give your little sis a hug, I get to make a name for myself now."

"You're an idiot, Anya," Luc said bluntly, before starting to briskly walk away. Betraying his own emotions was not something he wanted to do.

"Luc, wait," Anya wheezed, trying to reach for him with an arm that she no longer had. Instead her shoulder flexed slightly off the surface of the bed and a number of the mechanisms on the end of her arm-stump began to buzz in movement. "Be happy for me..." Anya watched the door close, "...arsehole." Anya might have cried in her morphine-induced stupor, but she was too tired. She fell asleep again before she could so much as shed a tear.

Luc was in a foul mood for the rest of the day and didn't engage with anyone that he didn't have to. He couldn't care less about whatever the business with the saurians was.
"Ah, wonderful! Send them congratulations from us," Fendros responded nearly over the top of Kaleeth's exclaimation, but not over her latter comment.

Janius was indeed uncomfortable about Kaleeth bringing their recent issues to the table with guests. His initial response was to look down slightly and nod with a tight-lipped smile. "Yes, it's..." Janius really didn't want to get into the reasons why he wanted to wait as they were, if anything, even more personal, "...it's an understanding we have. We agreed to wait until better circumstances arose." As Janius spoke, his eyes wandered to the last of his wine. It was looking tastier than ever now. He took the cup and threw the last of the drink down his throat in one gulp. As his face went back to the others around the table, he wore a more composed smile. He was more than ready to change the subject. "So, has anything else been happening around the city?"
"Funny, I didn't think Argonians...ah, so this wine is different." Janius realised properly, picking up his cup right before Kaleeth could pilfer it. He looked upon her with more understanding while he drank, but was still amused. With his free hand, he reached out and lightly pushed at Kaleeth's chin with a joint of his forefinger such that she was facing him, then spoke as clearly as he could, "Kaleeth, my love, that is enough wine for tonight."

Barely a minute passed before everyone had finished their dinners, except Sabine, who was eating slowly. Conversation appeared to be slowing down as everyone was becoming tired. Between a day out hunting and a satisfying warm meal complete with a fine wine, the end of the outing was near.

Fendros was still energetic enough, despite having less consistent sleep than anyone in the pack save for Ahnasha. He looked at Rukeewei and Ariel with a smile. "I think we've forgotten to ask up until now because we haven't seen her, but your sister-in-law, the tailor, what was...?" Fendros trailed off, but opened his eyes wider once he remembered, "Neer! how has she and your brother been?"
G'night!
Fendros couldn't help but chuckle along with Ahnasha. It was a majestic thought, at least. "Well, I'm not sure if a wamasu would enjoy being rode like a horse." Fendros took the last sip of wine he had, "In any case, they're going to be growing up alongside one another. I should think that they would be good friends at the very least."

As soon as Kaleeth drew Janius' full attention, he noticed something was wrong. "You're really enjoying that wine, aren't you?" Janius said, wondering for a few moments whether she was in fact becoming drunk. No, Argonians needed strong drink to be affected in such a way. Janius picked up his cup and was in the process of handing it over when he noticed Kaleeth swaying unusually. Perhaps there was something that Janius was missing about this wine. He looked at her with his head facing slightly away, "Are you alright, Kaleeth?" He asked her quietly.
