Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Cool, cool. I'll probably have Gallus come along with them, and it might make sense to have one more pack member as a bodyguard or something, but I don't mind who.
I get the feeling that Dai Xin may be over-levelled for this instance. :S
Depends, did you want him to play out asking Gallus and Meesei if he and Ma'tanza could come along to the temple, or do you think that should be summarised?
Kyang had her jaw clenched as she leapt from branch to branch. As soon as the first set of arrows came from a flank, she stopped behind a tree trunk to cover herself. The thuds were quickly replaced by more whistling arrows coming from all sorts of directions. It was a chaos that left Kyang incredulous, but thankfully not in too much danger with her being so far up off the ground. There can't be that many! This has to be some kind of trick...

As much as Kyang did not want to be separated from her companions, it was not much use to try and rally everyone now. Xin had run off at an impossible pace, no doubt to take on as many as he could, Liu had been left behind with an arrow in his shoulder and an unconscious suspect to tie up. That just left Torako. Where was she again?

Thankfully, Kyang found Torako by voice, but it was not a pleasant surprise to see what she was doing. She was approaching one of the armed bandits with a chide on her tongue as if she was talking to a child. He's got a sword, you maniac! Kyang had to resist the urge not to shout out at her.

No matter what Torako's plan for this bandit was, Kyang wasn't going to let Torako be cut up on the off chance that she was actually crazy. She found a lower branch to bound down from and pulled the sheathe from the blade of her glaive. When Kyang leapt down, she had her weapon held high in both hands. She attempted to bring the blade down onto the bandit from behind, hopefully to split his head right before she landed. Out of habit, she had a scream of defiance leave her throat while airborn, "KYEEAAAAA!"
Qa'habi's eyes bored into Tzirret, who could not meet them with anything longer than a nervous glance. This was a bad idea. Tzirret tightened the grip on his own upper arm as he took a step back and found an answer. "Right..." Tzirret cleared his throat, staring at the ground, "It is probably more sensitive that Tzirret thought. He is sorry for bringing it up. He just...Ma'tanza said she didn't know why, this one just got curious..." Tzirret's eyes flicked up and down again, "He did not want to tread on toes."

Tzirret thought that he should probably try to change the subject, but he was so clouded by fear and shame over upsetting Qa'habi that he could not think of anything. He let silence hang in the air between them unless Qa'habi wanted to say something.
Kyang wished she could have paid more attention. These bandits outright shot to kill. Now that they were fleeing, they probably intended to disappear so they could take more shots. However, now that Xin had played his hand, there was no telling how they would react. If they were lucky, the bandits would focus on him. He probably had an easier time deflecting arrows than most, if they could even lead him as a target.

The reaction Kyang had was just the same as everyone else at first. She jumped through the trees in pursuit of their assailants, barely keeping up with the injured Liu. But if they know we'll pursue, perhaps they'll try to use that to their advantage, Kyang's eyes widened. She was wrong about the bandits needing someone to bumble into a trap on the road. If it was bounty hunters they knew they were dealing with, then they could lure one into being surrounded on their own terms. "Watch your feet!" Kyang shouted below, "Don't let them lure you into traps!"

In preparation, Kyang took her glaive off her shoulder and held it in one hand. It was easier to move fast when using it as a balancing pole anyway.
It's all good.
Tzirret had not originally been all that interested in making a bow in the first place, but Qa'habi was actually making it sound interesting. Carefully, Tzirret took Qa'habi's bow in both hands and inspected it closely. Its strange shape and multiple materials made it intriguing. "So, this bow, what is it made of, exactly?" Tzirret said, looking to Qa'habi again.

While Tzirret let Qa'habi explain, he thought on how to transition the conversation. He looked over the bow once more once he had his answer. "This one will have to make a bow in future, he thinks," Tzirret said as he carefully placed the bow back where it was. "Um, Tzirret was also, um, wondering about something else, Qa'habi," Tzirret said. He then turned towards Qa'habi and his head came forward a bit, eyes glancing around nervously. "If this one may ask..." Tzirret brought a hand to his upper arm, "What happened to stop your relationship with Ma'tanza? Er, Tzirret knows you are still friends, but...before that."
"This one will come with you," Tzirret said, standing up with Qa'habi and trying not to look strange about it. He answered his question while they walked. "Tzirret was just thinking that he might try to make a bow some time. He has been carving bone and wood for the last few weeks, but nothing as big as a bow before. He thought it might be a fun project."

Tzirret commended himself for making his improvised excuse work, despite committing himself to work he honestly had not thought of doing. He would let Qa'habi talk for a bit before getting to the true reason for leading him away.
"Okay, yeah, that makes sense," Tzirret said. He was relieved that they didn't take offense, at least outwardly.

As for what to do, Tzirret saw an opportunity. "Hey, Qa'habi, um..." He stopped, trying to find words. Sure, he could get Qa'habi on his own, but he needed an excuse that he didn't think to prepare. Tzirret thought of something only at the second before the moment became awkward.

"Could you perhaps teach this one bit more about...bows?" The thought was stupid and Tzirret knew it. He tried to elaborate nervously, "Uh, how they are made? This one was wondering what Qa'habi's was made from."
