Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

So... is this still happening?
I think you might have better luck on the 1x1 subforum, friend.
Still in.
I think I'll wait for the OOC to gather a little more context before putting up my master character.

Speaking of, has there been any sign of LittleWing, or is someone else considering picking this up?
Cool beans! Now I can get some sleep. I'll work on this half-baked idea for a master I have tomorrow, I think.
Alright, cool!

As for the rebellious spirit parameter, I was referring to the descriptions of the charisma ranks for the ones to negate. D and C charisma are not specified in the wiki. I'll tentatively edit to a C rank rebellious spirit for now.
Raineh Daze said Well, it's more that no-one can become a Servant for guns, because skill with them isn't all that impressive (the only Servant from modern times cheated and made a deal with the world, is actually pretty weak for it, doesn't have an NP proper), so no-one can become a Servant for guns. If Zero Berserker is more dangerous with a sword than any type of firearm, guns aren't overpowered at all.

Mmmkay, not sure if that's a yes or no. Regardless, Ned's distinction wasn't really for his skill with a gun. He wasn't a famous sniper or anything like that. It was more that he and his buddies stuck it to the man in a manner that few people had done back then and he had a pretty cool final stand.

Raineh Daze said More bothered by a boost to NP strength if someone represents an 'oppressive' ideal, because conditions like that are more or less fulfilled with the sort of logic Servants run on.

I can live without that. How does removing that detail and decreasing the boost to a single + for the background thing sound?

Raineh Daze said Also, I think Nature of a Rebellious Spirit should be a lower rank, since... you've got it high enough to counter the sort of Charisma to rule a country. He wasn't disruptive.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. In all honesty that skill was more for the flavour. The C and D ranks weren't outlined in the wiki, and the E rank... I'm not sure exactly how that works. Which rank would be more appropriate?
Yeah, I read the Nature section of this which covered the gun thing. The articles' cynicism about amazon forest preservation difficulty aside, It has some conditions to a heroic spirit being made that seemed to contradict in some cases because of lack of specific definition, but I think it was focusing mostly on guns from the 20th century and beyond. Ned died about 20 years before the end of the 19th century, but he's still on the border in this regard. Especially because of his notoriety. I can expand (read: rant) on why I think he can count as a hero in the strange conditions that the Fate wiki posits, but... how do I put this... the Fate universe doesn't have to be consistent, that's why it isn't if you look deep enough. In light of that, you guys probably would have fundamentally made up your minds anyway.

If it's a matter of balance, I understand completely and talking it through is fine by me. If guns turn out to be outright too powerful for the RP, even the one-shot rifle that would load about as fast as a bow and arrow, then I suppose I can make another servant, but I would rather negotiate first.

I'm willing to hear other opinions about this, as well.
Hmm. Well I was thinking that other servants with high enough agility might be able to employ enough anime laws to go jedi on whatever Ned shoots. However, if you're concerned about it, might it help to impose a need to reload? The rifle only holds one bullet at a time in real life and the revolvers hold six each. I wouldn't expect any mad-enhanced servant to be a great marksman with them in any case.

If it needs a more serious nerf I could just as easily remove the revolvers on top of the reloading thing.
Alright, here's a draft for consideration. Now, my experience with fate is limited to the Fate/Zero Anime and trawling through the Type-Moon wiki, so please advise me if I've done something bad.

Edits so far:
Changed the Rebellious Spirit skill down from B to C
Removed the detail of the Glenrowan NP to get an extra + boost against targets with an oppressive ideal.
