@Severance On one hand, if they were out there it wouldn't be impossible for the Captain to get her hands on them...but I dunno why anyone would go out of their way to preserve them for six thousand years. Like I said though, the way 3D fabrication would be by that point a replica would literally be an exact copy down to any small engravings.
@Severance So, I'd say it's not impossible for Blaire to have those pistols. I mean, 3D printing right now is pretty crazy...Imagine just how far that kind of fabrication would be thousands of years from now. I'll say the chances of them being originals would be next to impossible unless they were specially preserved.

@Cleverbird I mean, obviously they wouldn't be produced in a normal way...and obviously there'd be way better options, but I'm not gonna tell someone not to use a tool they really want to use. On the positive side, since the aliens had been attacking since the early 2000s, those pistols would definitely be effective on the fodder aliens at the very least.

@Infernal Flame Yep, go on and throw it in there.
Also, minor heads up. There's a huge chance the Captain is way older than any of you expect.
@Cleverbird You're good, move Red on over to that Character tab.

@Infernal Flame So long as Clever's not mad about a second (albeit lighter) exosuit I think you're pretty much good.
@vertigh0st Go ahead and start on a CS, we're still waiting on a few. You'll have to be the last unplanned applicant though.

@Infernal Flame@Cleverbird@Zoey White I should definitely mention that as this RP will be actually moving towards an ending...Characters will def be killable if you vanish without explanation. Please let me, Lun, or Caw know if you're going to be unable to post for a while. In that case we'll just drag your chars along...if you just disappear out of the blue your char may be added to the LLN's memorial board.
@Cleverbird That's actually why I specified 'directed EMP'. A faraday cage definitely increases resistance to the standard EMP that's usually caused as a side effect of explosions and other radiation spikes. A directed EMP is more like aiming an insanely high powered microwave directly at a target. Naturally, just as preventative measures are created so are more effective weapons. You make something immune to a modern EMP? The modern EMP evolves to surpass that immunity (and vice versa). We're also talking alien tech...of aliens that have been invading for ~6000 years and gathering information on human technology. Unfortunately humans haven't gotten much intel on them as the only units the aliens seem to send are simple cannon fodder with basic energy weapons.

I was mostly just concerned on where that armor plate was going to fit...since it would've been up to your suit's knees in thickness. 400mm is much more understandable. Thanks for your consideration.
@Cleverbird I mean, you can only insulate something so well without damaging its use. Anything that can transmit/receive signals will always be vulnerable to directed EMPs. Generally speaking, the only really effective counter is something that can shut off and shield itself when it detects large spikes in electromagnetic activity.

I don't wanna sound like I'm being nitpicky about your armor, but I still want to know where that three foot thick armor plate fits on that suit. I could see it if it was a separate shield on an arm or something, but no part of it really looks like it could hold a fourth of its height-thick plate of armor.

I mean, even a modern nuclear submarine's armor plating only ends up at about a foot thick...and those take multiple atmospheres of pressure at all times.
@Zoey White That's a nod to my favorite ever quote from an article I approve. We're all gonna die.
