I might slowly be coming back to life. Getting laid off does give one more time to think about stories and such.

Bio
I'm a 30-something woman just looking to keep those writing muscles in whatever shape I can. I'm also Canadian, so fill the rest of this bio with every stereotype you can think of. I've also single, so clearly I'm a catch.
Nicknames/Aliases: Sam, I guess, but I prefer Sammi. Don't think my crewmates would call me what the Navy calls me.
Epithet: 'The Viking'
Age: 22
Appearance: Sammi is a tall woman, standing 6'0", with long blond hair and light blue eyes showing her supposed heritage. She cuts an imposing figure, years on the sea have given her a very toned body. She likes to think she could be in the running for beauty of the sea, but other people would probably not put her up that far. She's usually wearing a red tank top, black pants, sandals and a sky blue headband.
Bounty: 135,000 belli
Hometown: North Blue, Lillestad Island (If it has to be one mentioned in the manga, I'll swap to Rubeck)
Pirate Crew: TBD
Role: Cook/Fighter
Abilities & Skills: In battle, Sammi's weapon of choice is a twin pair of hand axes, useful for boarding opposing ships, or taking a chunk out of someone's neck. They don't allow for a lot of range, and when thrown, they aren't very accurate, but in close, she is a force, and opponents usually are in close, whether they like it or not, thanks to her ability.
As the cook, she is able to cook food decently enough. It's not going to rival the great chefs, but it's not going to taste like bilge water either.
Name: Nawa Nawa No Mi
Type: Paramythya
Effects: Enables the user to growth lengths of rope out from their body, usually the fingers and toes. These ropes can be fully manipulated by the user until they are detached from the body. After detachment, they can still be manipulated, but can no longer grow in length.
Techniques: They allow Sammi to help repair the ship, fetch things or tie up opponents in a neat package for chopping up. She hasn't refined it to the point where she has actual technique names for what she does, aside from "The Whip" or something similar.
Weaknesses:The ropes are slow moving if not given a momentum boost to start, so if Sammi doesn't loop something on the first try, she's left vulnerable. Also they are extensions of her body, so if sliced while attached, she feels the pain, even if it doesn't physically affect her.
Personality: Due to her time on the Thrasher, Sammi has grown to put up a very tough front, feeling it necessary to assert herself amongst the male-dominated profession she had become a part of. In battle she fights with the ferocity of the Vikings that Hartley told her of in the past. However, when by herself or with people she truly trusts (so far Hartley is the only one that has qualified), she exposes her true nature. She is much more open, quick to let the emotions come out, the anti-thesis of the image she projects on deck.
Sammi was born on the island of Lillestad. When she was growing up, she would wait at home for her father after he returned home from long days of fishing the sea. Once he was home, he would tell young Sammi stories of the sea, and of their ancestors who were supposedly great warriors long ago. As she grew up, she was more attached to the sea and determined to make her living off of it, but her father said no. No daughter of his would have to work for pay. This shocking commandment angered the young girl. Her mother tried her best to help her learn the tricks of the house; how to cook, how to clean in the shortest amount of time, stuff like that. She learned, but she never liked it, and would still pester her father to take her out onto the ocean. Every time he would say no.
Eventually, Sammi decided that her father couldn't tell her what to do and snuck away to the port on the other side of the island, looking to get on whatever ship she could. The only ship in port that day belonged to one Captain Hartley. He looked skeptical to take on the young girl but made a deal with her. He would allow her to sail with his crew, if she treated him to a proper meal beforehand. Sammi wasn't thrilled with the prospect of having to cook for a trip, especially if it meant she was pretty much auditioning for a chef's spot, but she was relieved when she realized that any cooked meal would do. The two went to a local tavern and the dinner was actually rather enjoyable, except for desert, that was strange tasting. The fruit on top of her parfait seemed a bit off. However, that was nothing compared to the conditions that Captain Hartley sprung on her.
He told Sammi that in order to be on his ship, every member had to be useful, and while she didn't appear to bring much to the table, he could fix that. The fruit that adorned her desert was the Nawa Nawa no Mi fruit, one that he couldn't trust to a member of his crew who might use it's powers for mutinous purposes. However, a doe-eyed young girl, still with the shred of innocence and wonder, and a drive for the open sea, she could use the power for him. And that's how Sammi was drafted into the pirate lifestyle.
Sammi became indispensable on board the Thrasher, her newly gained abilities making things much easier, but she got a lot of guff from the crew members on board who were not pleased that she got the Devil Fruit that Hartley had been holding onto for so long. All the Captain told her to do was to stand her ground, and use her powers if she needed to, with his blessing. After a couple of upside down hangings from the rigging, the crew started to back off, but they weren't willing to help her at all during the raids the ship performed. There were a couple of close calls at first, Sammi had never fought in any kind of conflict in her life, and her powers were not always able to be used to their full potential, which depressed her. She confessed this to Hartley, who had been the one to come to her aid during those times she was almost captured and she told the Captain that maybe she should just be taken home. They got talking about her old life and when Hartley learned about the stories she was told as a child, he urged Sammi to embrace her heritage, to become the fierce warrior of her families past. With some training from the Captain, she got better at fighting, and after some time, she was one of the most feared members of Hartley's crew, her weapons, fighting style and heritage earning her the nickname of "The Viking."
One night, when the ship was docked in a port on East Blue, Hartley and Sammi were on land looking for a place that would cater to their crew, but they need not have bothered. The Marines were ready to take care of that for them. They blitzed the ship and captured everyone before heading into the town for the main prizes; the captain and his devil fruit companion. It was a quick run through the town before the landing party caught up to the two. Hartley told Sammi to get away as far as she could while he held them off. Sammi was reluctant to abandon the Captain to this fate, but it was an order. He told her he would find her the next day, but as dawn broke on the woods north of the port, the captain and the Marines were nowhere to be found. Sammi was the last Thrasher crew member remaining, and the Marines would be sure to come back for her.
Faced with the task of finding another ship so she could get off the map until the heat died down, Sammi went looking for a crew that could use her talents, maintain the level of integrity that she had cultivated with Hartley, and most importantly, help eventually break the Captain out of the Marines compound. And at this point, she was even willing to cook for it.
Hey, just throwing something in randomly here, so pardon me if I'm out of line.
So the status up top where you can change things from Apply to Full and back? I've noticed that once Full is clicked, it's not possible to change it back to Apply, and since I've had a couple of drop outs right at the beginning of my RP, I'd really like to reopen it and let people know to send some sheets. So if possible, would it be able to get that requested to be able to switch back? Or should I just re-post in the Interest checks?

In the old thread, it was more the captain going on a recruiting drive, although I was First Mate on that one so it was me and him going around and rounding up people during a trigger event. I'm good either way though.
I can take the cook role. I was in an OPRP on the old site that got cut short. I'd just be bringing that character over here. Original Devil Fruit powers and all.
Or just kind of general deckhand if someone really wants the cook role. I think that's why I originally had her as.
The girl he was talking to seemed to clam up and shake her head no. It was a bit weird. Maybe she figured she made a huge misstep with the weather line. It was awkward sure but it wasn't anything to get so upset about. "OK...well I'm going up that way... so yeah...you two try not to fight any more OK? Yeah..." Katya was as chipper as ever, waving at the two girls as Erik turned around and headed up the hill towards Oak's lab. "Rose!"
It wasn't all that steep of a climb but still Erik was glad to be done with it. The outside of the giant laboratory look like it had been well kept anyway. All the herbivore Pokemon around here it was hard to see how it couldn't be. Cries could be heard from all over the area. Most of them sounded happy at least. Erik was in awe of how how massive the complex was, while Katya was just breathing in the clean-ish air and fragrant scents coming off her fellow Grass types.
As Erik walked up to the door a younger looking girl came running out moving at a Rapidash clip. She was flying by too fast for Erik to even ask what was going on or why she was running like that. Must have been excited to start her journey or something. He could only shrug as he continued in past the still open door. From the sounds of things there were people talking to the left of the hallway. Just as well it looked slightly cleaner than anything that was on the right hand side of the lobby.
Gary was taken back by the kind of reaction he got from the assembled group of trainers. A couple of them seemed way too excited to be seeing him, the youngest one was so overwhelmed she ran off. Nice to know I still have the effect on people. The other two were just...there. I remember when I had the entire group though. As Erik shuffled in behind the people, in place of the departed Claire, The Viridian Gym Leader figured that was as good as it was going to get for now.
"All right rookies, you may think that you're just going to have a walk in the park through this league, but there are some tricks up our Leaders sleeves that you might not be ready for. I should know. I took this challenge ten years ago before I was hired on as Viridian Gym Leader. You all are going to be travelling across brutal terrain, over oceans, through mountains. You'll be fighting again wild animals, ten times the levels of the Pokemon you have with you. But at the end, is a pretty nice reward. Money, a bunch of it, as well as a claim to fame that will never die. Champion of Kanto. If you're ready for that, then come forward and grab your Pokedexes. If not, you may want to follow that little girl out the door right now."
The young woman with the dark skin shook the cobwebs loose off of her body as she stepped off of the huge Sail-branded airship that had just docked in Regala. Between the long and cramped boat journey from Castelia City to Port Fae, the long and frankly way too expensive cab ride from Port Fae to Spirivic, and then the airship ride from Spirivic to Regala, she had been doing a lot more sitting and laying still than she had been used to. Her right leg was feeling the effects of it and she reached down to rub at the weakened limb. As she did so, the young Petilil that she held in her arm scrambled up from the crook it formed to atop her shoulder, the Grass-type not a fan of being horizontal for survival reasons. While adjusting the brace, the woman grimaced slightly.
"Damn. My legs must have said screw sleep and went straight to hibernation. That's a long ass trip." She reached up onto her shoulder and steadied the nomadic Nina as she stood back up. "Thanks for not going too crazy on the whole thing, Nina. I know you're not the kind to stay still."
"Lillil! Petilil!" Nina seemed to appreciate the praise for her efforts.
Robyn surveyed the area outside of the station, and was immediately struck with a sense of deja vu. Regala seemed to be very similar to her hometown of Castelia, only if a king had gotten to make all the design calls. As she walked, she took in all the sights and sounds that were new to her, yet all too familiar. The names may have changed but the calls stayed the same. Street peddlers hawking their wares, frantic businessfolk trying to catch cabs that were already full, people telling other people the various holes in which they could shove their newspapers. She definitely wasn't homesick with this kind of action going on around her.
It wasn't hard to find the path to the Ilex Laboratories. The streets that led to the Palace nearby might as well have been paved with gold. It was like something out of the houses of the most egomaniacal of rap stars. And next door, of course, was the finish line for this little quest. The massive tower that spiraled into the sky like Robyn used to...would soon be doing again. Victory Tower was the final level for this challenge, but clearly she was not ready for the big time yet. Nina was small, yet to be in a real battle, and...completely lost in her own little bulby head. Swaying in Robyn's arms to a beat only she could hear. The headphone wasn't even dropped down for her. Maybe she's finally remembering her own tunes. Hopefully I can still teach her a fourth move...
Ilex Labs stood out as the only one with an actual tree on top of it. As defining features go, in a city of buildings it worked really well. As Robyn walked in past the swooshing double doors, the reception area again had a hint of deja vu to it. This feeling however was not as welcome as previous ones, as it harkened back to the reason why Robyn was doing this in the first place. She walked up to the receptionist, who was typing away at the computer he was working on. As Robyn plopped Nina onto the counter, he looked up.
"Ah, good morning!" He seemed chipper, and gave a quick look to the Petilil still bobbing on the table. "Here to pick up a Pokédex and take the League Challenge?"
Robyn nodded. "Yep, that's the plan! Me and Nina gonna kick ass!"
Nina perked up upon hearing her name and smiled. "Lillil!"
"That's what we want to hear!" He turned back to the screen. "And your last name?"
"Springs."
It took a second for the receptionist to find her application. "Excellent. Have a seat over there and the Professors will be calling you in with some of the others."
Robyn nodded again and picked up Nina, heading over to a second where a couple other people were waiting. A young kid, and another girl about her age. She gave a slight wave as she gingerly set herself and Nina down, awaiting their journey's official start.
