Current Building something to last

Bio

Been doing rp for a long time. Never really quit. Just move around. No writer's block and typically always got an idea cooking. Pretty flexible and adaptable.

Character name:

We support most races. Pick a catagory:
Beast - Pretty much any creature that has animal characteristics or animal heritage greater physical prowess than most other races. Also tend to have enhanced senses.

Prime - Humans and other creatures that look mostly human with maybe just 1 or 2 differences. Not great at any one thing, but flexible.

Fae - Any magical creature or spirit typically goes here. Beings of mana. Elves, dwarves, hobbits, gnomes, etc. The best with magic.

Construct - Creatures of artificial beginnings but somehow in possession of a soul. Golems of varying kinds whether from clay, stone, or flesh. Homunculus. Androids. Best in survival and enduring.

Equipment
List what you want the character to have on them/available to them in their travels.

Spells/Abilities/talents/skills
List anything your character knows or can do that the average untrained peasant doesn't know or can't do.

Note: while flexible, the more stuff you can do, the weaker each individual thing is. So rather than saying "I can manipulate fire", say things like "I can shoot small fireballs and create a small wall of fire in front of myself". Rather than saying Im a master of the sword, say "I can empower my sword with my energy to cut better and to create short ranged shockwaves to cut a target at range".

You may include other information if you wish.

Approved characters will be posted in the characters tab.
ooc: characters may be placed in scene as they please (all are in free fall). preferable posting pace is at least once a week. Open to more folk, so apply if you like in direct message to me or the ooc. Ask ALL questions.

TLDR: characters are in free fall into several holes leading deep into the world. hive bugs are attacking anything moving in the free fall

Stone gave way in a thunder of dust and weight. What had been ground moments before opened into a vast throat that swallowed light, sound, and anything caught within it. The pull came hard and fast, dragging bodies, beasts, and broken earth into a single plunging column that narrowed and widened in turns like a living tunnel.

Michael dropped with the rest, his breath torn from him by the rush. Wind roared past his ears as the shaft stretched below in a dim glow cast by veins of pale crystal set within the stone. The light flickered along the walls in streaks, enough to mark distance and motion without ever settling. Shapes fell around him at uneven intervals. A wagon wheel spun end over end. A slab of rock tumbled past. A figure turned in the air, close enough to reach with effort. Some timbers and stone block remains of a town left to waste after the war in east empire accompanied Michael in his fall.

The descent tightened. The walls drew closer, guiding everything into a single stream. The air itself seemed to press inward, shaping their path. A drifting body that pushed too far to one side found itself eased back toward the center, as if the space allowed movement but refused escape. The pull held steady, unyielding, and the speed built to a violent rush that promised ruin to anything that tried to halt it outright.

A tremor ran through the falling mass as something large entered the stream. Chitin caught the crystal light in dull flashes. One of the hive bugs spun through the air, limbs spread wide to steady itself before it lashed out at the nearest shape. Another followed close behind, its bulk carving a path through smaller debris as it angled toward movement with blind aggression. They were about 10ft tall but not quite as wide, their forms built for tunnels , and their instinct drove them to strike even as the fall claimed them all.

TLDR: the spaces is actively draining the characters. the light in the floor seems to be concentrated into a dais with a cluster of pylons on it
music:

The skeletons pressed further into the chamber and the light beneath them tightened into sharper lines, then surged outward in a wider spread that cut across the floor ahead. The pulse in the conduits quickened again and the vibration underfoot grew heavier, each cycle pushing through the stone with more force than before.

The change reached the party. The green light gathered under Mantis pulled at her, drawing a portion of her lifeforce away in a sudden surge. The same pull was less on the others for now as the pattern on the floor spread out, marking the space they stood and tread on as it began to build.

Deeper in the chamber, the lines converged toward a raised section of floor where the conduits fed into a cluster of pylons. It was about 35ft across and each pylon was about 18ft high. There was 6 pylons in total. The glow was stronger there and the movement of the machinery more focused, the pattern in the floor leading directly toward it as the pressure behind them continued to build.

TLDR: Loose summary before new situation. Party is slowly getting drained, barriers taking it for now.
music:

They had crossed into the pyramid after fighting through waves of undead outside, losing the firbolg guides along the way as Xune burned the field clean to force an opening. The pyramid had answered with stronger defenders and a draining pull that tore at their lifeforce, but they fed it magic and pushed through while it quieted. The threshold trap had spikes shooting up to kill the first to enter before resetting as they moved past it. Fortunely, no one succumbed and the entrance sealed behind them with no way back out.

The chamber ahead was lit by a dull green glow carried by brass conduits set into the walls while large bone pistons move in steady rhythm, rising and falling with a low mechanical sound that carries through the floor. Rotating pylons stand deeper within, turning slowly as the same light runs along their surfaces and feeds into the structure around them. The air is still and cold.

The green light along the walls begins to shift and draw inward along the floor, thin lines forming and growing brighter as they gather beneath the party. The faint remains of Xune's barriers start to weaken under the pull, the light pressing against them and stripping away what protection they offer slowly with time as the party stands around to rest.

ooc: Xune (murderer) the end of part 1
Time: dusk
Weather: Cold but not freezing - warming near the pyramid
Mentions: @Tellussoil@CorvianMERCDB@Karcen@Lulidew @Nameless Hero
music:

The spikes retract back into the floor with mechanical precision, each thin shaft sliding down into the seams it came from as the stone closes over them without a trace. The faint lines dim once more, leaving the surface whole again as if nothing had triggered at all.

Behind them, the entrance seals shut in layered plates of black stone, grinding into place with a final, heavy lock that cuts off the outside completely. What little light followed them in dies with it, leaving the chamber lit only by the dull green pulse running through the walls and conduits.

The air shifts. A low, constant hum settles into the space, deeper than before, joined by the steady rhythm of moving parts out of sight. Somewhere beyond the chamber, something larger turns in a measured frequency. The floor beneath them gives a faint vibration in response.

The End (Part 1)

In Hi! 3 mos ago Forum: Introduce Yourself
@Enasal welcome. If the dragon age interest extends to other medieval fantasy interests, let me know ^^

ooc: Xune (murderer) (D grade spell typically uses E grade augmenters)

Ryker’s discarded armor clatters into the corridor and slides across the stone. It scrapes, bumps, and comes to rest without drawing any response from the structure.

Lorien was able to move through the threshold cleanly, clearing the spike zone before it could catch him. As he passes into the pyramid, the air changes at once. It is colder inside, not with wind or chill but with something that presses in on the skin. The space beyond opens into a chamber of dark stone and constructed form. Bone pistons the size of pillars sit embedded into the walls, rising and falling in slow, measured rhythm. Thick brass conduits run between them, carrying dim green energy that pulses like a heartbeat through the structure. Further in, tall pylons rotate in place, their surfaces carved with channels that guide the same glow upward and around the chamber. It was pretty active for a supposed ruin of ancient times.

Behind him, Xune's skeletons advance and jump about as well as one may expect of clumsy bone footmen. The floor answers them at once. The seams flare and split as spikes drive upward again, catching the skeletons mid step and lifting them harshly toward the ceiling. The impact would have shattered them, but the soul shields flare and hold just enough to keep their forms intact. The spikes remain for a moment before retracting back into the floor, the seams sealing once more. The skeletons drop back down, their barriers damaged but still intact, and the skeletons continue forward into the chamber after Lorien.

Mantis attempts to read the space ahead but sees little beyond what sharper eyes already catch. The lines in the floor, the shifting surfaces, the same patterns Lorien passed over. No deeper insight comes before she moves, and the moment she does, that clarity is lost. Her step lands where it should not. The floor beneath her foot shifts, the faint lines lighting again as the trap primes. She has a breath to react before the spikes surge upward to claim the same space. (defend yourself)

As the last of them attempts to cross inside, the entrance behind them begins to close. Ryker would have moments to get inside or get locked out. (get inside or get left behind)

@Nameless Hero welcome. I got a medieval fantasy community rp if interested. Post length is generally not an issue. It tries to meet you where you are.

Lorien’s senses stretch into the entrance, sharpening the dim interior just enough to catch what the eye alone might miss. Fine seams run along the floor in tight, deliberate patterns, not cracks but placements. Faint lines thread between them, dull and dark until they catch the light at certain angles. Along the walls, segments shift slightly out of alignment with one another, as if parts of the structure sit on hidden joints. Deeper in, vertical structures rotate at a slow, steady pace, and thin veins of dim green light pulse through channels that do not follow any natural design.

Mantis finds little left of the battlefield to work with. The remains she searches for are gone, burned out and taken back into the pyramid. What she gathers amounts to loose debris and fragments of the terrain. When thrown into the entrance, the objects strike the floor and slide or bounce without provoking a response.

At the threshold, Ryker reacts in time. He pulls back as the spikes surge upward, avoiding a lethal impalement, but not cleanly. The rising metal catches his armor and tears through it, splitting plates and leaving it badly damaged as he clears the trap’s reach. (Ryker armor sundered. no longer offers protection)

As quickly as it came, the trap retracts. The spikes withdraw straight down into the floor, the seams sealing behind them until the surface appears whole again. The faint lines dim and not unlike the rest of the floor, and the entrance returns to stillness.

The party remains outside, the interior open before them once more. Considering the dimensions of the trap, it looked like something that could be hopped over, but without knowing trigger, it may be risky either way.
