When is it appropriate to bump a check?

NOT less than 24 hours. I've seen people bump after 10 hours and it just feels spammy and attention seeking.

Also, I do believe just saying "Bump" may not get the best results, rather try to engage with people a bit and make some effort to talk or ask questions that people may wish to answer.

Hello Daxam. :)

May be putting together a character sheet for a large scale MP that we can fight/encounter in the future since we are starting to get into the flow of things. Compared to what everyone is starting to encounter, these will be more like Boss fights. :)

It also helps with seeing what everyone has been writing about so I know where to position this creature for it to appear. xD

Akio sat there in full horror of the story that he had just heard. His jaw shivered as he tried to respond, but what was it that could he say. Her story confirmed everything that he suspected, but he didn't want to believe that it was real. All he could do was look at her and know that she shared the same experience.

"I thought it was just a nightmare," he quietly responded, "I didn't want to believe that it was real, but from what you have told me, it's a real world." He paused for a moment in order to remember the events of last night, "I entered The Hack in my room, and saw some knuckle-busters floating on the table, but I never touched them..."

Akio turned to his phone and as a third message appear on the screen.

> John Doe: cant talk fighting monster will get back to you

Looking at the online status of the members list he came to a short conclusion, "So if you're Anon, then these two people must be inside The Hack at the moment? and one of them is fighting one of those things?!?"

"The car is ready," announced a fatherly voice from in front of the car. The sound of the bonnet thudding shut made a small echo within the workshop. It caught Akio off guard and he felt his heart pounding from the initial shock. He got up and composed himself, turned to Alex and spoke to her one last time.

"I'm actually going straight home after this to re-enter The Hack," and with that he ventured over to Alex's father to complete the payment.

Edit: Just wondering, should there be consequences for running overtime and having to have The Hack boot you out?

So the idea I had, and you guys interpreted it perfectly when you wrote your post, is that there are multiple ways to leave the hack. It was one of the first things I at least wanted to write about, mostly cause I actually forgot that earlier and thought, "...Um, massive oversight"

- first way which McHaggis and I experienced was like a firewall breach. Basically when you enter the hack an area around you is a bit of a safe zone until you obtain your weapon. It's to stop insta-death scenarios.
- second way is a time out where you'll run out of time. This is linked to how powerful the device is that you use to enter the hack. So you might say a pc will always be better, but in the future there may be scenarios where you don't have access to a pc Or an emergency arises.

Both these ways when you exit you will fill sick because it's a sudden ejection which is a bit much for your mind to handle. I don't think there needs to be any physical barrier from logging back in as just the mental and physical strain might get too much naturally.

- third way and best way is to log out. Its safer and no consequences.

That's why I like my racing. I get to the track at 4pm and leave around 1am. It's a perfect stress release. Not to mention the friends I meet up with weekly. :)

Excited to see what's gonna be coming up from everyone. As per usual though, will be at racing so no post from me, although I do wish to wait for silver to post and see her reply. :)

Blatantly Over-Powered Characters

@NuttsnBolts "Facist Amazon's" is a cool idea though. What kind of loopholes are you talking about, general metagaming or what?

Metagaming... to a degree yes. She said that her character was the leader of a technological race. Sounds like a fair sort of character, but the scene played out like this:

Character 'A' and Overpowered Female 'B' met up to make a deal.
Character 'C' happened to be spying on the deal and attempted to steal the item being traded.
Fight broke out where the three were involved. 'A' attempted to escape and 'C' was captured.
A fleet of ships were sent out and captured 'A'
'A' and 'C' were thrown into inescapable prisons.
'B' being a race leader declared war on the races of 'A' and 'C' (humans)

So as you can see, the character she created wasn't necessarily overpowered, but because she was some 'leader her excuse was that she had an army of thousands that she could control, which she never mentioned in her character sheet.

Oh and this all happened in about 6 posts...

Ah, and I remembered just then. Because the item being traded was a source of power, she obsorbed that power and turned into a godlike character. (Won't explain it too much as it would take forever to explain, but you get the gist)

Blatantly Over-Powered Characters

I remember a space RP where people got the choice to create a race for their character. Similar to how people in a fantasy may be able to choose elf, troll, etc. Anyways this RP started alright with some pretty colorful characters but the problems started to arise when certain people started interacting.

One person in particular created a feminist, Nazi race that instigated fights, and attempted to take over the plot of the story. The problem with it all was that we were that far into the RP that booting her out would essentially break the storyline.

It wasn't necessarily overpowered when you look at the charactersheet, but the problem was that there were so many loopholes that were utilised that it became overpowered without realising.

The words "Can I see?" barely registered to Akio after he had just seen the 1 line reply from the unknown responder, suitably named, John Doe.

"No caps? No apostrophe? No punctuation?" These errors in one's grammar caught his attention as the only reason why someone would rush a message out like this was in fact if the said person was actually in danger... But if that was the case, did that mean that "The Hack" was real? "No, that couldn't be right. I...I just had a nightmare."

He began to think back to the previous night and what happened, the moment he logged in, the creature that broke through the window and his immediate ejection out of that dream. Could that be all real? Was there another world out there that mirrored this one, and was it full of more monsters? More importantly he remembered how he saw the two knuckle-buster like devices and their beckoning call for his attention. "Could they be?" He wondered if they were some kind of weapon, especially since John Doe was apparently fighting one, and no one in their right mind would go into a fight with bare fists. His interest began to peak and he could feel his desire to re-enter The Hack.

"So, …uh ……what do you know about that ………uh …… the …… uh ………… The Hack?"

The words carved through his thought process like a shooting pain and it instantly bought his attention to the workshop surrounding. More importantly he suddenly looked at the young girl asking the question wondering himself what it was that she knew about the world.

Akio hesitated for a moment before replying, "Why do you ask?" He couldn't help but notice the way she phrased her question considering how bubbly she appeared earlier, and now she seemed to clam up into a shell. He wasn't sure whether to completely tell her or not. A regular person wouldn't believe him if he mentioned anything about the world that he saw, but Alex on the other hand seemed to be growing more pale with every moment that passed. "Are you feeling alright? You're looking like you've seen a ghost."
