If you sneeze, fart and burp at the same time your heart will explode. In fact, that's what killed the dinosaurs.

As Buck finished shouting, a reply from either Zhou himself or one of his men rang back in the form of a shotgun blast that tore a nice sized hole in the shelf above him. "Shit." He though looking down again at his wound then at the door. "Gotta make a choice now." With that Buck reloaded his Winchester. He quickly stood up and charged into the room, gun blazing. He hit the man that had fired on him and sent him falling to the floor. Buck glanced around. Zhou was no where in sight. There were piles of laundry bags everywhere. Buck smiled as he approached them. He was about to shout out to Zhou when he heard a match strike behind him. He spun, gun at the ready, to see what had caused that sound.

He turned just in time to see the man he had shot and not killed lighting the fuse on a stick of dynamite. The man smiled at Buck and threw the dynamite at him. Buck ran faster than he'd ever run before. Out of the back room and out of the store. There was one thing that Buck never messed with, and that was explosives. He stood outside the store waiting for the explosion, when a few of Zhou's men, attracted by the shoot out, were running towards him. Buck cursed slightly under his breath as they began to open fire on him. He turned and tore through the town until he reached where he had his horse stabled at. One of Zhou's men persuaded him, while the others went to check on their leader.

Buck barley managed to get out of the stables before the man opened fire again, winging him in the arm. Buck quickly drew his Colt and shot the man dead as he rode out of town. He spurred his horse forward knowing he needed to see a doctor. If he stayed there surely one of Zhou's men would have put a bullet in his head eventually. Buck turned around and saw he wasn't being chased and slowed his horse to a gallop as he cradled his shot arm. It, again, had only grazed him, but it was bleeding profusely. The whole time Buck waited to hear an explosion that never came. Which he took to mean that Zhou was still alive.
You need to stop her from crying. He can't handle crying women. Making him feel feelings. You should be ashamed of your self. lol
Flynn listened to her story. He knew the feeling of being alone. He'd always been alone. Little miss Duff aside, he never had anyone. He was alone as a child and alone as an adult. The marines helped a little bit, but no one ever really stayed. All the different tours and assignments meant he was going new places all the time. He loved it, but once he came back, there was no one. Maybe that's why he became a bounty hunter after the marines. So he could keep traveling. So he'd have a reason to be alone. He really really hated self-realizations. And being stuck here, he had nothing else to do, but think.

As Alyson finished her story she put her head between the bars and shed a few tears. At the point it was over for him. He had always considered himself a strong man. He could handle any situation. He had an answer and a way out of everything. Except when it came to caring about someone. Since he had been alone for so long, he never really cared for anyone. Sure he liked some people, not many, but some. Yet, he never truly cared about them. never understood their pains or their happiness. Now, here he was, listening to this woman spill her guts to him. She had made the best out of what life had handed her and all she wanted was to feel safe and loved.

There were all sorts of conflicting ideas and emotions that swam in his head. Some new feeling drove him now. It was not anger, or fear, but of compassion. Something he had not felt in quite a long time. He slowly scooted over to where Alyson's head rested on the bars and slowly brought his hand to her face. She flinched a little, but didn't pull back. He took his palm and put in on her cheek. He felt a warmth flow down his arm and into his chest as he took his thumb and wiped away a small tear. His chest felt heavy and light all at the same time as he looked into her eyes. "I, I can't believe I'm saying this." Flynn started, feeling a little disjointed."Whatever happens. I'm dropping the bounty." His mind was furious at this idea, but it felt right to him. It made him feel a little at peace.
Ronin deftly landed on the ground and sheathed his sword. The mutant behind him fell with a giant "THUD" as the top half of its body separated from its lower half. He wasn't sure how many he had dispatched of. They seemed never ending. That didn't discourage him, though. He delighted at the idea of battling these things all night. Singularly, they weren't too much of a challenge, but in a group, they could possibly pose a slight danger. Ronin looked up and saw the rest of the team was all close by. Suddenly a semi-truck came out of nowhere and smashed through a group of the mutants. Ronin shook his head. He always had to make an entrance.

Ronin turned as Ultiman said something and he saw three mutants in the distance charging up a beam attack. He unsheathed his blade and held it sideways. He braced himself as the mutants unleashed all three of their beams his way at once. The beams hit his blade and began to push him back. He dug his foot down and braced himself. The asphalt began to give under the sheer force of the beams pushing Ronin back. After almost a minute, the mutants relent in there attack.

A huge crater surrounds Ronin and he stands on a small piece of asphalt that didn't crumble during the attack. He twists his hands on the hilt and swings the blade towards the mutants. As it nears the mutants a huge energy blade extends from his blade and slices the three mutants right in half. As they fall, he teleports up on the roof and sheathes his sword. He is smiling broadly. He is loving every moment of this fight.
She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. His face immediately went flush and he started grinning like an idiot. She mentioned that she would be fine if he went to class. He sighed a little bit. He wasn't a book worm by any means, but he always believed in keeping his appointments, no matter what they were. If he was supposed to be somewhere he would be there. She then invited him back to her dorm after he got out of class. While he didn't consider himself a sleazy guy, his mind couldn't help but wonder. He regained his composure. "Oh, yea. That'd be great. I only have this one class today and it ends in two hours." He said, starting to grin like an idiot again.

She brushed her hair back as she told him where her dorm was. She then talked about some girl that had been a total bitch to her. Miles shook his head. "People are complete assholes. Don't let some dumb bitch bother you. She's probably just jealous that your clothes show off your great..." He trailed off not wanting to sound crass. "Tattoos. They're great. You'll have to tell me about them later." With that Miles sprinted off to class. "I'll see you in a few." He yelled to her as he left. He got to his class just in time. He had a difficult time focusing. His mind kept drifting back to Karah. He hadn't know anyone here and was worried it might stay that way.

Class ended and Miles went back to his dorm to clean himself up a little before heading over to see Karah. He entered the room and threw his book bag on his bed. He picked up some different clothes and laid them out. As he got ready to walk down the hall his roommate walked in. He was a tall scrawny kid from New York. "What's up John Wayne?" His roommate asked him. He called him John Wayne because Miles grew up on a ranch. Miles wasn't sure if he meant it in jest or was trying to make fun of him, but he took it as a harmless joke.

"Hey Jimmy." Miles said. "Met this girl earlier and we're going to hang out at her dorm and probably grab a bite to eat afterwards." Jimmy slapped Miles playfully on the arm. "That's my man! Best of luck to ya. After you get back, if all goes well with her. We'll get a pie to celebrate." Jimmy grinned. Miles looked at him confused. "Pie?" He inquired. "Yea." Jimmy said. "What type of pie ya like?" Miles stared at him confused. "I like, apple I guess." Miles shrugged. "Apple?" Jimmy sneered. "Let's just stick to peperoni." Miles confusion lifted. "Oh," He exclaimed. "A pizza pie." Jimmy looked at Miles oddly and flopped down on his bed and picked up a book.

With that Miles showered and changed and headed over to Karah's dorm. It was just across campus. He got to her door and went to knock, but stopped himself. He straightened his shirt and fixed his hair. He breathed into his hand and checked it. He kicked himself mentally. They're just hanging out, he needed to relax. He laughed a little at himself. He was always calm and collected in most situations. Except when it came to women. He breathed to calm himself and knocked on her door.
Miles relaxed a bit when her face showed a hint of recognition. "A bully huh?" Miles asked. "People are horrible everywhere." As Karah talked about not going to class, Miles felt a tiny twinge of anxiety. He couldn't miss class. Not on the first day. However, as Karah kept talking about how fragile state she was in, he felt he couldn't just take off and leave her. So, maybe it had a little to do with her attractiveness, and less with him being a true gentleman, but he still felt bad leaving her alone. "First days at new places are always a bit much. I've been here a week and I'm still not used to anything. It gets to me sometimes too." He wasn't lying about that. He wasn't used to so many people or so many buildings. He knew ranch life, not a life where cars were everywhere and it wasn't safe to wander off campus at night.

"Tell you what Karah." Miles piped up. How about I walk you back to your dorm so you can relax in peace? Or if you want. I'm a little hungry. You could join me in a bite to eat at the campus restaurant." Miles felt himself blush slightly as he rubbed the back of his head..
Flynn quickly ate the cereal as soon as he got it though the bars. He didn't realize quite how hungry he was. Her reply to his question was not a very convincing one. When she mentioned the bars, however, Flynn felt the blood leave his face. "She fucking knew." He swore to himself. The fact that she knew how he was trying to escape made him all the more confused. There really was no reason she should keep him alive. She knew he was trying to escape and very well may succeed. Yet she kept him alive. She gave him food, a bed, and a shower. It wasn't the best, but she didn't have to do anything for him. He didn't know if he'd have shown her the same kindness if the situation was reversed.

Feeling lower than dirt, Flynn set his empty bowl outside of the bars and stared down for a moment. he realized his question had seriously upset her. Flynn knew he hated making self-realizations as well. That like girl on the ship who talked about how lonely his life must be. "Hey look." Flynn said looking at Alyson. "That one didn't count. Let me ask you another question. This one counts." Flynn couldn't believe he actually cared how she felt emotionally. Flynn looked at her as her gaze met his. "What is one of the best memories you have? I'll go first while you think about it."

Flynn stood up and put his hands through the bars. "It was my fourth year in the marines. I had just been promoted to sergeant. That's not why I'm telling you this story though. I was on leave on a resort planet. I forget its name though. Beautiful beaches and lush forests. It was fantastic. Anyways, it was my last day there and I was taking a hike. On my way back to the hotel, I hear a small noise in a bush. Upon investigation I found a tiny kitten." He looked down at Alyson and showed the size with his hands. "I don't know if you have them here, but they're earth creatures. Very small domesticated felines."

"She's this little thing. Black and white fur, like she's wearing a little tuxedo." Flynn smiled fondly. "I take her to the front desk and no one has listed her a missing. So I put in a found pet report and take the little beast up to my room. I get her food and water. She's so scared though. She hides in the bathroom, only coming out to eat and drink. The next day and still no one has reported her missing. Now, if I leave her there and no one claims her, they just throw her in the forest. She wouldn't have survived. Yet, the marines have a very strict no animal policy. What the fuck am I supposed to do?" He asks rhetorically.

He goes to the wall away from the door and slumps down to the ground. "Long story short. I got demoted to corporal for breaking their rule." Flynn then smiled a bigger smile than Alyson had ever seen. "But I kept her. Her name was private first class Duff." Flynn then looked off sadly. "Had her forever. She died of old age about one month before I get discharged. She was always waiting at my barracks for me. No matter how long my tour lasted. She was so happy to see me. She was my little lady." Flynn looked up at Alyson. "Best reason for a demotion ever." He smiled.
