Oh, I'm really sorry my character made you feel uncomfortable, is there any way we could work around this? I'd hate to have you leave just for my sake...

That's very kind of you but in that same way I could hardly ask you to rewrite your character just for my sake. My problem with Etrigan is that he's a demon and I wouldn't really know how his character would work if he wasn't. That's my one beef with the DC universe, that they have to make everything so bloody mystical. As soon as the occult starts to get involved, I have to pull out.
Darkseid and the like I can handle because he's really just a big bad self-centred arrogant alien who likes to claim he's a god. Humans do that all the time. It's a fine line though and I always get tangled in it.
@BlackSam3091 Oh, I only just noticed the character sheet of Etrigan in the character page. I'm sorry, but that's exactly the kind of character I was talking about. I know this is going to sound childish, but for both personal and religious reasons I just wouldn't feel comfortable playing with a sealed away demon who can summon powers from Hell itself.

So I'm afraid I'll have to quietly withdraw from this RP. I hope to have an oppurtunity of playing with you people some other time. Have fun!
@BlackSam3091 I finished my sheet and send it to Devine Darkness, though I might have to edit a few things depending on Aquawoman's story and background. Once that's ironed out I'll send it to you.

That's more or less it- Lady Shiva beat Vic up, then dropped him off with Richard Dragon to train Vic up to "worthy opponent" status. I left that bit out of my version of his origin just to streamline things a little. Stylistically, I'm borrowing a lot from that storyline, especially the urban blight and the philosophical bent of the character. I think it makes sense for him to be wrestling with questions of ethics and why things are the way they are- if you're fighting crime in a polluted, corrupt hellhole like Hub City and seeing nothing change, anyone would start thinking about those issues. At least, that's my take.

STUPID INTELLECTUAL STUFF WARNING: As a student of philosophy (yes, really, I even have a pretentious hat) I can't help but see The Question as Camus' "absurd hero", a man who sees his work is pointless and doomed but keeps trying anyways.

I hate to sound like a hipster *sips PBR* but I was a fan of The Question before JLU came on the air, so that particular version (while great fun) isn't the one that comes to mind for me, if that makes sense.

Yeah, that's the one :) We all have our own stories of how we come in contact with a certain hero, so we all have our own preferences, but I'm just glad the Question is going to get some well deserved attention from someone who knows his shit :D

@BlackSam3091 I have to go to bed now, I'll finish my character sheet in the morning, will that be ok? I am currently going for a battle-hardened royal guard looking to find his king back. Will send you the full thing as soon as it's done.
Also, @BlackSam3091 (sorry about all the questions), what kind of age/continuity are we in? The reason I ask is because there's quite a few differences between traits for certain races (like Atlanteans) in different continuities.
For example, do they have trouble above water? The New 52 Aquaman and some incarnations before that didn't seem to be having any problem with staying above ground for longer periods of time (you even have that moment where an angry Mera says "we don't need water, you do", before she continues to use her powers to effectively dehydrate some poor local cop), but some of the earlier versions couldn't stay out of water for very long before becoming weak. Kryptonians have had any range of different sets of powers. Same goes for Amazons.

So how do we go about that in this RP?

I'm a HUGE fan of the O'Neil run on the character, they're probably my favorite superhero comics, so I'm basing him more on that. Though I don't want to be super angsty and grimdark or anything, I guess I'm aiming more for a mature and serious character to counteract all the young blood. My plan for his story arc is for him to gradually become less cynical and more optimistic.

I've wanted to play The Question for years, but it seems like every time I join a DC RP someone always swoops him up before me (and usually plays him as a useless goofball). So I'm glad I was finally first to the mat.

Glad you like my interpretation of him!

I've read a few different comics on him, but it's been too long to really differentiate them... was that the one where he was trained by Lady Shiva after nearly/not-so-nearly dying with all the mysticism and stuff? I wasn't a particular fan of that story arc, but the character was still really nicely done.

I'll admit I fell in love with the (rather goofy) JL:U version of his character and he is still quite possibly my favourite superhero ever (especially since he wasn't so goofy near the end), but the character as a whole is really strong. I just never imagined he was that popular.

Really looking forward to see how you wield him!
@BlackSam3091 Just to be sure, we are allowed to make original characters as well though, right? I'm not sure if my actual knowledge of C-listers is good enough to RP as one.
@FantasyChicStargirl is a more obscure character who was part of the JLA so don't sweat if you don't know her.

Also, bat-fam any character that has ties to Gotham and Batman. Which is a very simplistic way to look at it.

Right. I had a very elaborate way of saying exactly that when I accidentally refreshed my page. Most information should be in the Character Sheet and if you want to know more you can look the name up in Youtube and there is bound to be a full analysis of any character you need.

Also, @Polyphemus, Will you be the hardcore dark and gritty Question from the comics, or the conspiracy nut with the best line ever in Justice League Unlimited? I still cannot believe someone chose The Question before I could. You are officially amazing.

Now I gotta make a decision.... but after I nap. (Because I just came home early from work feeling like poop.)

If anyone wants to toss their opinion at me, go head. I already got Wraith's input. (But we're not counting his right?)

Selena Kyle
Barbara Gordan -1
Carol Ferris -1
Jessie Chambers
Koriand'r -3
Supergirl (Matrix) but without the later weird stuff... which was weird.
Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl -4
Diana Drake (not Lance) -1

EDIT: Added in Hillan's, Kindred's, Sam's and Rin's vote

If my vote counts already, definitely Stargirl
@BlackSam3091
Awesome, I'll see what I can do in that department then!
Yes, I mean Justice League Dark, but since there is a lot more 'justice league dark'-esque stuff in DC other than just the Justice League I thought I'd broaden the term :P

Edit: to clarify, I mostly have a problem with the occult and stuff like that, if that makes it more clear.
