Scarlet Thorne

"Thanks girl!" she had responded to Nyx's compliment, flashing her a smile. But seconds later things had changed, and all four of them were gone.

Scarlet was breathing heavily now. Being transported to a foreign place like this all of the sudden caused a wave of panic to roll over her. Her chili dog had fallen to the floor of the expanse, and she was a split second away from bringing out her pets and taking a defensive stance. But something held her back from that. A thumping in her mind told her that it was unwise to bare fangs at those that far outclassed her. The soothing presence the beings were emanating felt alien to Scarlet. Her wide eyes scanned the rows of mysterious beings with fear. How was this possible?

Trying to maintain her dignity, she swallowed her feelings and responded in a milder tone than before. "Then let's hear it. But please don't keep me long. I have plans," she claimed, though really she didn't have much going on, apart from the convention reveals. She just wanted to be away from this sense of inferiority.

Scarlet had traveled a ways to visit this convention. She had been excitedly looking forward to it, expecting the reveal of the newest game in one of her favorite series: 'Immortal Signs'. Of course, that was months ago - before the changes had come over her. After a few feverish, sleepless nights, she had become one of those rare individuals who develop inexplicable powers. Now that she had acquired such unique blessings, the escapist fantasy of video games just didn't appeal to her as strongly. Back then, she was a depressed teenager with little freedom; her parents never would have let her come out here for a convention. But now, she was master of her own destiny. Those overbearing jerks couldn't do a thing to stop her - nobody could. In truth, her mother and father hadn't heard from her in weeks, and she still wasn't feeling a bit guilty about that.

Dark leather boots stomped confidently through the venue, just one piece of a coordinated all black get-up. Scarlet wasn't dressed as any particular character, but her bold goth presentation and the thick horns on her head still gave the impression of cosplay. She was drawing more than a few glances as she went around with a cocky smirk, occasionally munching on a chili dog that she'd intimidated a vendor into giving her for free. In the food court, there was a near collision with several people involved, which wasn't so unlikely in a busy place like this. But Scarlet didn't apologize or pull back, instead she took another step towards the old man before her - invading his personal space and threatening to run him over.

His question didn't make much sense to her. How could the number of people involved in a chance crossing be important, or disappointing in any way? The dark haired girl chalked the utterance up to probable senility. "Eh? Watch where you're going, pops." Her attitude was a bit rude, like she wanted him to squirm.
Someone said in the interest check that not choosing cringey RCs would be the hardest part. Well, I went ahead and did that so no one else would have to feel the shame. :D

Scarlet Thorne

Appearance: Scarlet is a pale goth girl with long black hair and dark clothes. She is quite pretty, but she has a creepy aura and a dangerous look in her eyes that just screams "keep away!" She also has viper-like fangs and a pair of horns on her head.
Concept: An immoral and unstable teenage girl uses her newfound powers mostly for personal gain. Very proud of herself, and under the corrupting influence of her RCs, she wants to become immortal and perhaps take over the world. But she's not that methodical about it. As she's fairly new to the superhero game, she's more than willing to just wreck shit and have fun with her powers when she feels like it.
RC1: Orochimaru [Naruto]
- Vibe: Creepy snake ninja and mad scientist with all kinds of transformations and ninjutsu up his sleeve.
- Power: Body transformation (mostly snakelike forms and techniques), regeneration, summoning of powerful snakes, and various other ninjutsu.
RC2: Riku [Kingdom Hearts]
- Vibe: Chosen one that fell to darkness and lost his destiny.
- Power: Swordsmanship, Combat Magic, power over darkness and heartless.
RC3: Mink [Dragon Half]
- Vibe: Spunky half-dragon teenager
- Power: Immense strength and durability, wings, can breathe fire.

Weapons
Kusanagi - A silver sword that can cut through most anything. It can change shape and its blade can extend to great lengths. Kusanagi can be wielded with purely mental effort. The sword can also turn into a snake and move of its own accord. [From Orochimaru]
Keyblade of Heart - A black keyblade with jagged teeth and a red guard. It will materialize in Scarlet's hand when called. It's capable of magically opening mechanical locks. More importantly, it can unlock the darkness inside someone's heart - causing a defeated enemy to rise again as a heartless. [From Riku]

Another girl with long brown hair was leaned against the transport’s bench. Beneath the rods and the the thin frame of her power suit, she wore an elegant ensemble - a white blouse with an open top, black frills of lace and ribbon, and a matching skirt. She was very pretty, and had sort of a refined air about her, which was not at all lessened by the diamond crown upon her head. The only things that seemed out of place about that picture were her serious green eyes, and the dark circles that lay beneath them. Her name was Sarah Hughes. She was a new valkyrie that had been making waves with her high test scores and her unusual psychic abilities. She hoped to prove herself in this outing with Fire Moth. Due to the larger battle that would be going on nearby, the assignment could turn out to be really dangerous. But she was sure that she could handle it, unless things went totally sideways.

A notebook lay open on Ms. Hughes’ lap, and a pen was relentlessly scribbling into it. Only, the instrument was wielded by no hand. It seemed to move of its own accord, recording copious notation at an impressive speed. Sarah kept track of it disinterestedly - so accustomed to the minimal psychic effort required for writing that her attention, with her eyes, mostly lingered on the other girls in the vehicle. Only occasionally did she look down again to check the pen’s progress. A page flipped, and then another. It was mostly recording details about her new teammates, and it even produced sketches of each one's appearance. They were simple drawings without much shading, but they managed to capture characteristic details fairly well. Jessica's tense smile, Hinode's distinct attire, and Yu-ri's metal hand, they were all there. Putting things down on paper wasn't as efficient as keeping computer files, but Sarah had grown quite fond of it. These journals were her personalized accounts, and there were certain advantages to keeping them in analog.

Yu-ri suggested that they start with introductions, and she had no argument. She had grown quite comfortable with these types of exchanges after being moved around by World Serpent and finally transferring to Fire Moth. "I'm Sarah Hughes," she said with a pleasant smile, offering a wave of her pale hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. You all seem like fine Valkyries. I have full confidence in the success of our mission."

Asked to provide an interesting detail about Rouen, Sarah’s mind immediately oriented towards history - her research specialty. “Rouen proper has been a site of interest for thousands of years. For the Romans, it was the second greatest city of Gallia. They erected temples, bathhouses, and an amphitheater. The Franks, the Normans, the English, and the French all had their turn with the area. Our destination, however, is less storied. It was a railway town that developed in the 1800s.”

In response to Hinode’s comment about covering the inbound roads, Sarah pushed back. “Rouen is not properly fortified, so in truth there are as many entrances as the beasts care to make for themselves.” They could potentially tear through walls, climb over buildings, or sneak in through other routes not marked on the map. A strong perimeter seemed too optimistic for this occasion. They’d have to monitor the area, especially the northern side where most incursions would be originating.

“Besides, spreading the team thin here isn’t ideal. We’ll have to concentrate our fire if any big fish make their way into our net.” Her words weren't cold, but they transparently showed her analytical way of approaching the situation. Before she finished speaking, her eyes fell on Jessica, and lingered there a moment. She couldn't help but be curious about that woman. Even if things got dangerous, she was prepared to follow Jessica's orders, but only time would tell how effective they would be. Sarah relaxed and glanced back towards the others. "But doing what's ideal isn't always possible. We'll have to take whatever formation is necessary to contain the outbreak."
So I think at this point we should try to re-recruit or come up with a new game idea. Writing Novice is our remaining lead and I know she's pretty new, so I don't want to pressure her to take the reins if she isn't comfortable with that.
I wanted to let Jonisca get a first post in. But if she's not ready I can just go ahead and make another post soon.
@Lewascan2 I just wanted to say that I did actually manage to finish up my sheet a while back. I’d be happy to hear your thoughts on it. No rush of course, I know it takes a while to go through everything.
Olivia and I posted. If anyone see's this, then only VT and Jonisca haven't posted yet. They don't have to post if they want to, of course.

It’s not a big deal, but my name is Olive. I don’t really like being called Olivia. It’s okay though; it’s an easy mistake to make.
