I was thinking more like absorbing ore or ingots or something. Like technically, it is not a magical power but rather an alteration of a targe. So if the shield was fed metals it would have a surplus and as such be able to do the extension maybe? If not, what do you suggest as a valid process for the shield to be able to do what it does?

also, what lvl are we?
Fer’s smile slowly returned as he remembered his younger brother. Always devouring books and always imagining things. He was often bullied, even by their own father, for being “too smart for his own good.” The young hero looked up at the big cathedral like building. No doubt it was full of books and knowledge. One day he should return here and walk the halls if nothing else as a sort of avatar for his younger brother’s spirit.

He turned that smile over to Auriel. The fathered warrior always a sight that brought a smile to his face. Not only was the girl nice to look at, having her as a companion was enjoyable and it appealed to his sense of family. A family he was very much missing.

“Well, then may be you should have had extra arms instead of those pretty wings cus keeping us out of trouble may be more than two hands can handle.” He joked but in the back of his mind, the logical and tactical part of his brain told him that he was not too far off the mark. Cole seemed to be their main damage dealer, with Auriel as secondary and Fer as little more than support and cheer squad.

The young shield turned to his male companion. Stress and the burden of leadership easy to see if you were paying attention. The young man was not much different in age to Fer. The only thing that kept Fer from pissing himself was that he had lived the battlefield. He had seen death. He had taken life. It never go any easier. It was a long time but he could somehow understand what Cole was going through.

“Alright boss, we are ready. Lead us on to victory.” He joked trying to lighten the mood. He walked with his partners. A trio of young fools thinking they could shoulder the woes of the world. Still, the young hero would not have had it any other way.

On the way to Marcino, Fer questioned the holy warrior wondering what she had discovered and to see if there was a way to perhaps enhance his shield. The rest of the world faded into a blurry background. The only thing that mattered to Fer was his two friends. He enjoyed their time together. After all, who knew what awaited them.

*******************************

The mood had changed a little when Marcino joined the group. Fer figured it was not the old gladiator’s fault. After all, when your life consist of eviscerating and rejoicing in the spilt blood of your foes, a funny bone is not something you retain. So the talk turned more to harsh lessons of life from the old man and planning out their attack.

When the mercenary left, Fer was able to breathe a bit easier. Still he valued the man’s skill and the young man knew that having Marcino about would greatly increase their chances of survival. This became abundantly clear when the three younger members of the raiding party sat pondering the best way to overpower the guard.

Fer smiled as Cole dispatched orders of engagement and a quick and dirty victory speech. The lad would definitely be considered a great leader. It was a shame that other adventurers or people had not joined their cause like Auriel had. With Cole in the lead, it would be easy to lift people’s spirits.

The young hero nodded his acknowledgment of his assignment. It was pretty cut and dry. After all, there was not much he could do. Still, l he could at least show support for his friend. He placed a hand on the other lad’s shoulder as he noticed him taking deeper breaths than normal. “You know I will always be here by your side friend.”

He then turned towards the cave. Just before they trio charged in, the guards in front of them dropped dead. Fer of course did not know where the sniper was, but he wondered if that was the gladiator’s passive aggressive way to tell the kids to get a move on.

He readied his shield. “Morph Shield: Tower.” The shield morphed into a larger replica of the Roman scutum with a flash of green. He had seen a very tall shield at the weapon’s merchant. It may have been no more than a decoration for it would have taken a man that was about seven feet tall to maneuver that thing. Still, it had left an impression on Fer.

Even more impressive, was that his shield morphed exactly to the dimensions he envisioned. The Shield was almost as tall as he, covering from lower shin to just below his eyes. It was wide enough for him and half a person. In his mind, he had figured that this would be the best way to limit ranged attacks and funnel any would be melee fighters towards the sharp ends of Cole and Auriel’s weapons.

“Ok, well guess I’m ready. Lets give them hell” Fer smiled wickedly. If his shield was able to morph into what his mind’s eyes could think of, then he wondered what the possibilities were.
Ok, so my suggestion is see how far we get in the fight, if we come to the point where Auriel needs to be somewhere else, then we can address it IC with just Fer and Cole. Later, when @Whoami returns she may do a little solo mission with @vancexentan or something. If we need to put in in Hiatus, I may hit up Vance every now and then regarding building my character and the shield.

I would like to say either is fine but you asked for my opinion and I kind want to lean towards my primary suggestion.
I completely agree with your explanation and that is what I was basing my descriptions regarding their connectedness. I feel that the stronger the affinity and by extension magic prowess, to the Aether the stronger the connection would be to others. Or at least the stronger the sense of them. Maybe even like a magnetic field with varying levels of magnetism.

As for the amorous part, I want to remind you that the man is still very naive and innocent on certain matters. Especially girls. All he knows is from the house of sin he grew up on. As you stated, he is very attracted to her and maybe in his male mind may be whispering things that are not necessarily true but his young mind, a tween really, is telling him he likes the girl but what that really means is a mystery to him.

One thing is for certain, he does not like anybody messing with the people he considers important lol.
Ok, let me see what I can come up with regarding the shield situation. I might have to do some research.
@vancexentan I know, but I am not sure how that would have raised my shields abilities. I know that it is able to process weapons and the higher the caliber of the weapon the better but I am not sure how that would translate.

I know in the manga Naofumi actually fed his shield everything from plants, to books to the dead remains of the dragon. I am not sure if I saw him feed the shield weapons. I thought he could not even hold them.

My lack of knowledge helps IC because Fer would definitely not have the background to figure out Isekai type deals lol.

Also, is it my turn?
Lol, in a Frodo voice "fine Keep your secrets"

Ok, well cool. I mean, Arn is not a Master Mage for nothing and he is very in tune with the Aether having performed many experiments as noted in the other RP. So I was not saying that he is not a challenge but I know that he is really questionioning how capable he actually is lol.

I will definitely dive into trying to figure out more about Eilis. I mean, they technically have only known each other about a day or so lol.

Question, do you think that Arn is behaving too amorous towards Eilis? I mean, I am not necessarily trying to portray it that way but he is very stricken and drawn to her. Is it possible for a person to be so into another person and it not be amorous?
Ok, I kinda get it. The words are more like a way to channel a practiced utilization of the Aether. Sort of muscle memory.

I get the conduit thing but if we are still following the Merlin's Cannon then this might be an evolutionary magic or it could actually be utilizing ancient methods.

I feel like in the current futuristic meld society they would think more scientifically with few mages truly unlocking the mystical and obscure. Maybe that is why the Sorcerer King became so powerful?

Again, not saying anything against it, just wondering how Arn can actually compete against this sort of casting and power lol. He feels like a little novice right now.
you are correct but If I remember correctly they were not truly via his shield. He did learn to make accessories and sytnesis potions via his shields. I will do some research. It may be something that Fer discovers IC. Maybe through some ancient text hint hint there @Whoami lol.

Man I really need more shields. I feel that my character is lagging behind but I dont feel there has been any credible situation for him to feed monsters into his shield and acquire new ones. am I wrong?
