Well, I didn't say she did or that she was a positive character, although it wouldn't be the first time somebody ate up their hype as much to start believing it.

But you have to agree the prospect of stealth killing machines is a bit frightening. As far as Pyrrha goes, while I would like for JNPR to die get less screentime, it makes Penny quite a failure of a project if she can't dodge her own weapons with what I assume would be superior-to-human senses and reflexes. Back to drawing board. Depending on laws in remannt that might not even be considered a kill.

Haha, let's kick things off shall we. Name's Rei, Hiwatari Rei. Surname before the given, y'know, the proper order. We're about to embark upon a journey in which wonderful me will serve as the eyes and the ears. I mean you could just follow Cyare's perspective, but I think you'll find mine a lot more fun.

So where does story begin you ask?

Cyare and I had arrived in the wonderful city of Crocus where the Grand Magic Games were being held. I have to tell you, I really love cities. Like I've been trying to explain to Cyare. "Cities have that human energy to them. There really isn't anything like it. That hustle and bustle, the ever persistent movement screams of the human desire for progress. The desire to speed ahead. Kid, human cities are like the heartbeat of society, the bustle proves that we're alive."

Of course the kid was totally ignoring me. Dork had a habit of doing that, but hey I didn't travel with her because she was a natural foil for my wonderful conversations. I traveled with her 'cause it was kind of amusing watching the kid parade around with her whole defender of justice schtick. It's like watching a dog chase after a car, y'know the dog can't catch it and even if it did what would be the point, but damn, you just kind of end up rooting for the dog. Well unless you were in the car, in which case screw the damn dog it was making a racket.

Where was I?

Right, cities.

"And I mean they also have the added bonus of being filled with punks, some of which are bratty enough to pick a fight with others. That's always entertaining," I sighed, Cyare still wasn't paying attention, too busy trying to find a job board. "Have you tried the center of town dimwit, that's generally where job boards are posted. I swear you're helpless without me. And stop looking so bored, have you even seen the Grand Magic Games before?"

So after some quick googling, it appears the countries in Type 0 are based on the same source as Rei's magic. Namely the Chinese concept of Wu Xing.

It's basically the Chinese concept of the Five Elements kind of similar to the Western Concept of Four Elements. Each of the Beasts symbolize a bunch of different things. You'll find that the idea of Wu Xing pops up everywhere: Shin Megami Tensei, Beyblade, Digimon, Final Fantasy, heck even Voltron.

Which is why it all probably seems so familiar.

Name: “Fiore’s Fastest Courier” “The Blitzing Magician” “The Lord of the Speed” : 火渡 霊 (Hiwatari Rei)

Age: How rude, do I really look that old to you?

Birthday: If I don’t tell you do I get presents every day?

Magic: Ever heard of the beautiful little art known as Five Heavenly Beasts Body Magic? No of course you haven’t, I’m the only person with such a beautiful form of magic. Regardless the magic lets me imbue the elemental properties of the five Heavenly Beasts: the Azure Dragon of Wood, the Vermillion Bird of Fire, the Yellow Dragon of Earth, the White Tiger of Metal and the Black Tortoise of Water. Pretty awesome I know.

As for what that means in practice, well I’ll break it down by power. First off the White Tiger lets me create metal coatings for my body, most often in the form of claws for arms. That said I’m not limited to just creating claws, it’s just what tends to be the most useful for me. I’ve also been known to employ the coating as a metal shield on my back, a helmet to guard from debris and even a full body cowl. Despite what one might imagine, the highly durable metal does not weigh or slow me down in any respect. I believe that’s a byproduct of the White Tiger’s gifts. That said, as useful as White Tiger is, it’s not the magic that truly speaks to me.

The honor belongs to the Vermillion Bird. It’s the fire from the Vermillion Bird that put me on the map, granting me my esteemed titles. By igniting my inner soul and being, my speed jumps to explosive levels, and yes, I mean that literally. Not only is my speed enhanced, my fists and attacks gain an explosive edge. Simply put, the boost the bird grants my speed and reaction time means that I’m able to outpace just about everyone. So I suggest you avoid challenging me to a race.

Oh and before you ask, yes I can activate both powers at the same time although it is a bit more draining on my magical reserves. Plus it does come with a few limitations, namely that wherever my body is being covered by White Tiger, the effects of Vermillion Bird won’t carry over. So while I may still be extremely fast, if I’m using my claws they’ll lack the explosive edge my fists would otherwise have. Finding ways to use the Beasts in tangent is half the fun.

Now, as for the other three beasts well…

I have no idea, I haven’t learned to use them yet.

Magic Level: This beautiful man? What else could I be other than A-Class.

History: SPOILERS! Jeez, do you really want to spoil the fun. How else am I going to get a cool backstory and flashback arc. I mean come on, have you even seen the show, who spoils their backstory in the first episode.

Oh yeah and I did run into that dweeb while on the road.

Personality: What you didn’t get the jist of it from reading? How dense are you? Anyway some people (read: that dork) might call me arrogant, narcissistic and over all a bit of a jerk. But hey, it takes one to know one. That dork also calls me a jackass, but I think she's just jealous of my obviously superior charm.

Guild and guild mark location: You see this beautiful body? Why would I want to mar it with an ugly tattoo.

Team Members: Well I guess there is that one dork.

Three Strengths:
1. What? Dashing good looks not good enough for you? Fine, I’ll be boring and just mention how fast I am. Or maybe all of you are just too slow. Either way, you’re not gonna catch me.

2. You see my little friends here, right fist and left fist? Well, let’s just say I’ve got plenty of ways of pounding your face in with or without magic. So how ‘bout we just be friends, ain’t that a lot nicer?

3. Have I mentioned how great a liar I am? Or maybe I’m lying now and I suck, but that would make a great liar which means I lied and is your head hurting yet? Good. Well just know that if I need to keep a secret, I guarantee it’ll never come out. Courier’s honour and all that.

Three Weaknesses:
1. Aw, do I have to, it’s no fun spoiling the suspense. Although I guess if I’m being honest I can be rather reckless at times. Getting in way over my head isn’t that uncommon, but hey I’m still kicking so I guess it’s all good.

2. I also suppose that unless White Tiger is in effect taking hits can be a bit devastating for me. I may be really fast, but I’m not the greatest at simply tanking magical attacks.

3. I also kinda have a bad habit of pissing people off.

Greatest Love: Going fast makes me feel alive. My heart beats in hyperdrive.

Motivation: To be the fast there ever was. (Get it?)

Appearance: You see this handsome fellow? That’s little old me. I stand tall, I’ve got pretty blue hair and wonderful long coat. What’s not to love?
