Welcome Pilots!

Welcome, new pilots, to the 75th annual orientation for the Bureau of Artificial Armed Combat! Hopefully you are all already acquainted with the long history of our proud organization, but for those of you who slept through your history lessons here's a quick refresher.

In the late 22nd century, mankind had just taken our first unsteady steps into the universe at large. Armed with primitive FTL and devastating new weaponry, man had expanded out into the farthest reaches of our galaxy and had reached a new plateau of destructive capabilities. We had long since had the ability to destroy ourselves with our weapons and wars, but never on the scale or the ease with which we could now wage war. In response to the threat posed by the proliferation of these newer, terrifyingly efficient weapons of mass destruction, the far-flung human worlds and civilizations came together to form the Confederation of Human Societies to create a peaceful alternative to the seemingly inevitable bloodshed that our future held. Within these bonds of mutual humanity, a golden age of peace unequaled in all of human history has been established.

But while our disparate nations have now been at peace for over a century, man's lust for battle and bloodshed is something that has never truly been suppressed. As such, the Confederacy established the Bureau of Artificial Armed Combat to allow for an outlet to these more primitive, violent urges. Here in the BAAC, talented pilots and warriors of all the disparate cultures humanity has since produced can come together and test their resolve against one another in armed combat using specially designed combat machines known as Nephilim. These machines are as unique in form and purpose as the pilots that operate them. Some of you are here because you have been given the illustrious honor of your homelands to represent your nations on the galactic stage. Others are here because you have something to prove; to show that you are the greatest of all mankind's long history of warriors. Still others are here simply because you love how it feels behind the controls of a titanic engine of destruction, or you grew up watching these battles and dreaming of the day you would have your turn in the spotlight. Regardless of why you're here, this is the beginning of your career in humanity's favorite modern pastime.

Will you join a team and climb to the top of the rankings as we make our way towards the Grand Championships? Will you stand alone as the greatest duelist of our generation? Or will you eschew the traditional combat events to show off your talents as a racer or as a stunt pilot? The choice is yours, and I want to welcome you all to the beginning of the 75th Artificial Combat Season. Battle Modes for the year have been locked in. Team registrations have been opened. Let's get this party started! Ready? GO!

@Genon
I haven't. This is my first game that I've run here, and I'm not sure what exactly I wanted to include in the character sheet beyond the Mecha design.

I figured people could include the information they felt was relevant for their character, and really only needed specific rules for their Mecha since that's what will matter when it comes to interactions and events.

Suggestions are always welcome though!
@Genon

I like it, I'd be interested to see what you build with that.

I've been thinking of including Androids and artificial lifeforms as possible character races, so this would be a cool way to explore that side of the world.
I haven't really advertised it yet, but I'm hoping to see more people joining in!

"So much noise" Tobias thought for a second, gritting his teeth as the arcane energies surged through the magic circle at his feet restraining them and into his body. The circle surged with power and crackled with barely contained electricity while his eyes blazed with pale blue light and his body levitated off the ground, coat whipping violently around in the growing winds.

"Molniya bogov! Nakazhu!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as the sigils that circled his feet leapt from the pavement into a sphere encircling him. The storm above crashed and raged with angry intensity as the spell crescendoed to its climax. Gale-force winds tore through the battlefield above the wounded hydra, which was already sprouting fresh heads to replenish the ones lost in Tobias' earlier assault. Electricity surged from the sphere outwards even as the rain fell in sheets from the swirling clouds above. Finally, a surge of light and heat from the sphere of floating magic symbols and runes as Tobias' cane fired a beam of dazzling white light into the maelstrom, which boomed a thunderous reply as a pillar of blazing lightning crashed down to the earth.

The blast of thunder shattered glass and set off car alarms in a huge radius around the battlefield even as the brilliant flash dazzled onlookers unlucky enough to be watching the scene unfold. Electronics shorted out in the surge of electricity and arcane energies even while the hydra roared in agony. Billions of volts surged through every inch of the creature, bursting blood vessels and boiling the fluids of its many eyes, even as the electricity arced from head to head and superheated the marrow of its bones to the point that they could be seen through its flesh and scales. The storm's clouds and rain seemed to have vanished in an instant, its power spent in the tremendous bolt of lightning.

Tobias' eyes rolled back in his head as the light of the spell left him and he fell to the ground from the place he had been levitating, his whole body smoking and sizzling from the mystic forces that he had channeled. He landed with a painful thud and lay on the ground, breathing heavily as his cane clattered to the earth beside him. The Hydra screeched through ruined throats as its heads crashed to the ground and its body convulsed, arcs of residual electricity crawled along the scales of its form. The Hydra flailed as its heads lashed out in blind fury, blood from ruptured veins and arteries in their myriad poured from its mouths and still sizzling ocular fluid dripped from ruined eyes. The beast tore pavement and smashed any buildings that still stood in its path in mindless rage and pain with the animal savagery only a wounded and cornered beast could muster.
So many fliers buzzing around in a magical lightning storm...

Tobias will drop the rest of the lightning in the storm he conjured, which will probably stun the monster in addition to dealing a shitload of damage. If WW wants ice she'll have to relay that to him after.
@Mr Nim
I can wait, it's alright.

I'm going to be traveling today anyway, so I won't have a lot of time to post.
@Unknown100
Someone should give tell him that. Even just a shout to use ice instead would work
I think the implication is for Tobias to switch from Thunder and Lightning, to snow and hail?
