A New Dawn

A long time ago, in a Galaxy far, far away...

The Emperor is dead, and with him Lord Vader and the second Death Star destroyed. The Empire lost an incredible number of its assets during the Battle of Endor, and the scattered remnants are struggling to put together any organised resistance to the rising New Republic. Across the galaxy, countless people are taking up arms against Imperial oppression, taking the death of Emperor Palpatine as a sign of the Empire's true end.

Roughly a month has passed since the decisive Battle of Endor, and while the New Republic's military keeps itself occupied with mopping up what remains of the Empire, and securing territory throughout the galaxy, the Senate has begun to establish itself properly. Wishing to extend an olive branch to worlds in order to bring them into the fold of the New Republic, the Senate has begun to dispatch Senators and Ambassadors to outlying worlds.

The war is still very much raging however, and while the heroes of the rebellion involve themselves in other matters, it's up to you to pick a side, and help decide the fate of the galaxy.

Overview

Setting: The Galaxy Far, Far Away
Time Frame: One Month after the Battle of Endor
Rp Tags: Sci-fi, Fandom, Space Opera, High Casual, Large Group, Character Driven, Military, Slice-Of-Life
Type Of RP: An original story set shortly after the Original Trilogy, in the period of the collapsing Empire and rising New Republic before the Battle of Jakku.

The RP will follow two opposing groups; The Empire and the Crew of The Raven.

The Empire is in decline, having lost control entirely over many of the core worlds, either having them taken by the New Republic, or engulfed by riots and civil war following the Emperor's death. Many of the Moffs and Governors have turned against eachother, splitting much of the Empire into factions across the galaxy, only making it easier for the rising New Republic to mop up what remains.

Much of the still-organized Empire has shifted its focus to its previously ignored Outer Rim worlds, tightening their grip on those worlds and using them to hide and regroup more than anything as they seek some way to come back from their crushing defeat at Endor. Many of these rim planets are too far out for the New Republic, still fairly unestablished, to assist, and so most who live there are trapped under the iron grip of the Imperial remnant, although rebellion still forms, and the New Republic military attempts to assist these rebels as well as they can.

A New Republic senator has been sent to join the Crew of the Raven for their diplomatic missions. Some of those aboard the Raven are members of the New Republic, and of the old Rebellion, but some are just hired help or crew, working mostly as smugglers. Not all of those aboard have particularly allegiances either way in the war, but the ship is at least contracted by the New Republic to assist in their diplomatic work. A varied bunch, they are certainly not all soldiers, and their experience of the war is vastly different to most others. But, they do stick together - whether it's because of the credits, the mission, or each other.

While both sides in this RP will have an overall goal before them, there are various other tasks for them to complete toward the war effort. It is up to you which side you want to play, but any character can switch sides. (Given the right circumstances) - the way things go in this RP is up to you!

The Empire is desperately searching the galaxy for any leg up they can get in the war, while the New Republic remains confident that it is only a matter of time until their victory. However, the Empire may now be less organized and in fewer numbers, but they still hold the upper hand in most basic regards - their use of slave labour provides them with a fairly steady revenue of supply, and their Star Destroyers remain as dangerous and powerful as always. They may be down, but they are certainly not completely out of the war just yet.

The fate of the galaxy rests on your shoulders, what information, supplies and alliances you can broker for your given side will depend. Whether you're a soldier, a senator, a pilot or just someone along for the ride, life isn't easy in the Galaxy far, far away, and every day will be a fight to survive. Things may seem good for the New Republic, but it is still mostly a government and military of smugglers, rebels and criminals, disorganized and burdened by the rigors of democracy. The Empire is in decline, and that is clear to all - mistrust and infighting plagues the remnant, and it is hard to trust anyone left.

The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, how will you help to affect the coming months?

The Galaxy

The known galaxy is vast, and although a great deal of the Galactic West remains mostly unexplored, that which has been is separated into a series of sectors. For ease of reference, use this guide. - The Galaxy

The Core Worlds:
  • Coruscant: Also known as Imperial Center during the reign of the Empire - was the seat of government for the Old Republic, Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire, and the homeworld of the human species. Much of the world is involved in a planetary civil war between Imperial remnants and New Republic sympathizers.
  • Chandrila: The homeworld of the New Republic's leader - Mon Mothma, and the capital of the New Republic. Chandrila serves as the seat of the newly formed Galactic Senate, and a relative safe haven from the ongoing war.
  • Hosnian Prime: A world under the control of the New Republic, a large center of commerce and political involvement for the New Republic.
  • Corellia: Corellia is a world under conflict between the Empire and the New Republic, and a major metropolitan center. Corellia is known for its ace pilots and large starships.
  • Kuat: Still under Imperial control, Kuat is a vital shipbuilding and industrial planet known for the Kuat Drive Yards. Kuat serves as the most important ship-building center in the galaxy for the Empire.

The Mid Rim:
  • Naboo: A bountiful planet, Naboo is the home to the Gungan species and a member of the New Republic. Naboo's government exists as an Elective monarchy, and was the homeworld to the late Emperor Palpatine
  • Kashyyyk: A world engulfed in open rebellion and ongoing war, Kashyyyk is the Wookiee homeworld, and was a slave world under the Empire. Since the Battle of Endor most Wookiee slaves have risen up against the Imperials along with New Republic assistance.
  • Dathomir: A remote, neutral planet, Dathomir was the home to the nightsisters and nightbrothers. Dathomir was the location of much conflict during the Clone Wars, and there are many sinister stories surrounding the world.

The Outer Rim:
  • Akiva: Akiva has become a major center of Imperial control in the Outer Rim territories, considering its remote nature, the New Republic pays little attention to the world as it stands, and is oblivious to the Imperial presence.
  • Ryloth: Homeworld to the Twi'lek species, Ryloth suffered severely under Imperial oppression and still does. A failed assassination attempt on the Emperor and Lord Vader in the early years of the empire only tightened the Empire's grip. Pockets of rebellion have sprung up, and the New Republic is planning an offensive to take the world.
  • Tatooine: The homeworld to Anakin and Luke Skywalker, Tatooine is a sparsely inhabited desert planet, and equal parts the most and least important world in the galaxy. Controlled by the Hutts, the Empire makes regular expeditions to the world, as does the New Republic.
  • Dantooine: A grassy world populated mostly by farmers, Dantooine is famous for having previously been the home to numerous Jedi temples and enclaves. It is one of the only worlds in the galaxy where lightsaber crystals grow naturally, and once served as the base of the Rebellion
  • Yavin IV: Once the headquarters of the Rebel Alliance, it was above Yavin IV that the first Death Star was destroyed. A jungle world, it lies under New Republic control, and is still scattered with ruins and debris from the Death Star.

The Unknown Regions:
  • Rakata Prime: Also known as Lehon, Rakata Prime served as the capital world of the ancient Infinite Empire, which created incredibly powerful super weapons, stations and starships which still exist to this day, despite their rarity.
  • Ilum: Ilum is an ice covered world which was mostly forgotten after the destruction of the Jedi Order. Important to the Jedi, Ilum was one of the only, and the most major source of lightsaber crystals in the Galaxy.

Jackson Tanner

Location: Port Shuttle

Jackson wasn't exactly pleased when he heard about their unexpected landing on Whitefall. On one hand, it was because of the imminent and likely chance of exploding as they neared the planet's surface. On the other hand - he was reminded of the fact that Patience had shot him the last time they came to the moon, an interaction he was in no hurry to revisit. Patience was always a charmer, and one who generally tried to get the better of folk like himself and Anisa, he appreciated at the very least that this time they hadn't dealt with her directly - and of course, that he had returned bullet-hole-free.

While Anisa set about delivering the repair parts to Gideon for him to work on fixing the ship, Jackson took a moment or two outside. The day was hot, humid, and Jackson had already had plenty of being stuck on the ground, lord only knew how the next few days would go. He hated every bit about being grounded, while some spacers loved the feel of dirt beneath their boots after a long haul in space, Jackson much preferred the idea of being back up in the air. Hell, if it were up to him, they'd never come down, the black was a whole lot of peace, most of the time, in their line of work, and with the war on, ground was nothing but trouble.

"Well, ain't this all just ri shao gou shi bing?" Jackson let out another long, irritated sigh, turning his gaze back toward the ship as he moved up the ramp and inside, heading over to the controls and closing the ramp as he moved around and up the stairs, onto the catwalks above.

Taking off his coat, he rested it over the railing for a moment as he reached out, rolling his sleeves idly up to his elbows as he moved toward the companion's shuttle. As per usual, he made no effort to knock or make his presence known as he moved inside, eyes darting about and settling on Genevieve as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't suppose the captain's told you we might be stuck here a few days, hope that won't interfere with any appointments you've got lined up." While the words were sincere, the tone was anything but, a smug underline to the words as if he was just fishing for a smartass comment to make.

Gregory Quinn

Location: The Bridge

Quinn adjusted his uniform as he moved out of his office, hands shifting to clasp behind his back as he moved down the hall toward the bridge, not bothering to return any greetings or salutes from some of the lower ranking crew of the patrol boat, readying for its launch. For their entire time on Persephone, Quinn had hardly left the ship, he was not one for time off, especially in a time of war. It may not have been a war he believed in this time, but he'd picked his side, right or wrong, and he couldn't change that even if he wanted to.

"Ensure the crew is all on board and ready to leave, and get our new pilot up here immediately." Quinn snapped to an ensign as he reached the bridge, approaching his command console as he looked out of the viewport onto the docks. Outside, crew, soldiers and contractors moved about, working and simply going about their days, following whatever goals or orders they had. He was pleased to be getting underway, whatever their orders would be - and just as he thought that, those orders came in.

He glanced over the information report, it seemed fairly average, although the location was curious. It rung a bell, while he had not been sent to Whitefall, Quinn had been on one of the crews to clear out a few of the hiding holes for the Serenity crew during the search for River Tam. What a disaster that had all been. Regardless, he had a feeling whatever was going on that had an independent ship there of all places was important, perhaps they had decided to use it as a cache, hoping the Alliance wouldn't bother, well, that would change. "Have us ready to leave as soon as possible and ready to burn hard, that ship isn't slipping through our fingers." As his order was acknowledged, he clasped his hands behind his back again, eyes shifting back out the viewport.

It was time to go to war.

Tom Fisher

Location: Tristan's Quarters -> The Infirmary

As things began to settle down a bit, Tom finally allowed himself a little relaxation, he didn't interfere with anyone's work in the MOR, mostly just sticking around to keep an eye on Silvia as he stuck by the elevator, doing a whole lot of nothing. It might have been unexciting, and generally uninteresting, but the lack of anything to do was, in Tom's mind, far better than the drama and difficulties which he'd otherwise been facing throughout essentially the entire day.

The ship coming from Earth helped a great deal, the extra crew and supplies would make things a whole lot easier after the drama of the day. He took some time to introduce himself to the security specialist, but didn't keep him long before he let him go to speak with Silvia, he knew the man was mostly here for her, after all. Tom remained where he was, silent and merely watching most of the crew on the MOR as they worked, waiting for something to come up to pull him away on some other duty. It didn't take too long.

He was eventually called up and informed that Tristan was awake, letting out a sigh as he moved toward the elevator. He didn't exactly expect Silvia to do something drastic without him there to watch her, he was trying to avoid any bias, but he was already more on her side in the whole scenario. As he stood in the elevator, he took up his PDA and looked back through the camera feed of the incident between Tristan and Silvia, making a mental note of everything before he finally got down to the medical bay. He gave Crisna a nod and a roll of his eyes as he moved out of the elevator, heading toward Tristan's room and moving past his guards as he shifted inside, glancing over to the Empath and Tristan.

"How's your head, Debute?"
Liam Matthews

Location: Town Center
Interacting With: Daniyal, @Witch Cat Jade Cornish @Morose

Liam gave Daniyal a very long look of confusion as he stood there. He could tell the witch had some sort of idea of what was going on with him, at least a better idea than Liam had - but that was a whole lot of nothing. His gaze followed the doctor for a few moments as she began to move away with another doctor, there was something wrong about the man, but he couldn't put his finger on it, his attention stolen back away by the witch as he turned to face him.

He wasn't exactly expecting the barrage of questions, moving to stand carefully as he looked down at Daniyal, thinking of how best to answer them. "I... I don't really know how to put it... I..." He was cut off as he watched Daniyal suddenly become enveloped in an intense, incredibly bright light. He held up his hand to shield his eyes, but despite the light he could still see fairly clearly through it, his eyes settling on a woman right in the light.

He had no clue who or what he'd seen as the light disappeared, but it only served to fill him with more confusion, the woman had been, well, gorgeous, but who was she? What was she? Had she caused the intense light that had just appeared, or was that his own doing somehow? His attention was ripped away again as he heard a woman's voice yelling in his direction. Turning his gaze toward the source, his eyes settled on the trio, the sheriff, detective and the FBI agent all looking in his direction. "Wh- no, I didn't... I don't know how that happened!" He insisted as he attempted to explain himself to the detective, she seemed fairly confident that none of this was out of the ordinary, at that point he wished he had her temperament.

Darren Andrews

Location: Town Center
Interacting With: Jade Cornish, @Morose Zachery Carpenter @BlueSky44

Darren glanced between Zachary and Jade as the two confirmed that there was nothing along the lines that he had suggested. He was partly pleased, werewolves were generally a pain in the ass to deal with, but at the same time, if it wasn't a werewolf, it could only have been a few other things, and none of them were particularly good. However, as he looked over the report Zachary cited, he narrowed it down a little bit, recognizing the abbreviation, he figured it was something demonic, and muttered something under his breath in a kind of frustration.

"I assumed it was a serial killer like the detective here suggested, we've been tracking someone for a while who might've fit that M.O. but, I 'spose it isn't them." He shrugged, he decided to go with the detective and keep up the facade that things were just fine, at least for now. He glanced over to the side, looking over the others in the town center before Cornish spoke up in regards to the images. He'd been half-hoping she wouldn't mention it, or that either of them wouldn't even notice it, saving him from conjuring up any explanation. He sighed, letting slip just some of his know-how. "It stands for Inferno, as in Dante's Infe-"

He was cut off however by the flash of light and Jade's dragging the group of them to the ground. Not expecting the sudden pull, he allowed himself to be dragged down with her, groaning as he hit the ground. As the light cleared however, he moved to stand. Looking over at Liam, he couldn't exactly explain what had happened, he wasn't familiar with anything that did that, and it hadn't seemed to really do anything to anyone, just caused confusion, but Darren made a note to watch the reporter, he felt it had something to do with him. He heard the sheriff question what was going on, and as much as he wished to give the man a straight answer, he didn't feel like having Jade slap handcuffs on him at that moment. That could maybe come later.

Well, provided the world didn't end.
Jeremy Bennet

Location: The Library

Jeremy's research was thorough, and as the pile of books, articles and folders grew about him, he was taken back to his years at university, studying under Gerard himself. It wasn't uncommon for him to spend long and tiring nights like this, buried in books and articles in search of some sort of clue toward a treasure or find to be unearthed. Some of his teachers had always been against Jeremy's treasure-oriented goals when it came to his study of archaeology, but Gerard had always encouraged it. He figured it was only fitting that he was stuck in a similar fashion trying to find the bastard.

The article he'd found was interesting, but he didn't see the relevance until he'd noted the object buried with the sisters. Glancing back to his journal, he confirmed that it did look quite a bit like the object from Gerard's notes. He went back through the article to confirm where the location was, before he shifted his focus to where the sisters had been found, and any information he could get on the find itself. If he had a location, he figured it might be an even better place to pick up the trail.

Admittedly, part of Jeremy was already yearning to leave Justice. It was not entirely Justice itself's fault, although it was in itself a less-than-ideal city compared to somewhere like San Francisco or the like, but Jeremy was yearning for something more open, more wild, more, well, ancient. Part of him however was sure he'd be stuck there for a while, that something or someone would end up keeping Jeremy in Justice a while longer, his luck usually worked out like that.

Lucas Walsh

Location: The U.N.

Regaining his wits as he looked about, Lucas watched as some of the more diligent security workers moved about trying to help people with injuries while some of the more selfish in the lobby ran screaming for the exit. He heard the sirens and figured that police, ambulances and fire engines would be there soon enough, the whole works. Lucas didn't care, he wasn't about to wait around outside while Risa was still somewhere in the building, especially if there was the vague chance someone in the building might be looking to cause some more harm.

He quickly made his way over to the stairwell, looking down as he saw most of the first set of stairs in rubble on the floor. He took a moment to examine the damaged stairs, and it wasn't long before he figured his way up. Taking a step or two back, he ran up and pushed himself off the pile of rubble, setting his feet firmly on the wall and pushing himself up further to grab hold of a protruding bit of concrete which had remained in its place when the stairs collapsed. It crumbled a little under his grip, but held firm long enough for him to pull himself up and onto his feet, letting out a sigh as he looked to the stairs, continuing upward.

He continued to sprint upward, and while a gut feeling told him he'd feel safer with his gun in his hands, he kept it concealed for the time being - he figured at that point, unless he had some reason to have it out, he'd just cause more panic if he was seen with it. He kept climbing the stairs, having to leap and jump over a few gaps on some of the more damaged sections but as he got higher it mostly began to clear, the explosion had only been in the parking garage after all, despite how strong it was. "Risa!?" He called for her as he climbed, he didn't know what floor she was on but he figured he'd either pass her, or she'd hear him calling.
I'll have a post up soon, was out and about all day so i'm hoping to get caught up before I head to bed.
@Lady Amalthea

Jackson and Quinn's relations are complete for now ^^

Joel Grau

Location: Downstairs Hallway
Interacting With: Claire, @Lady Amalthea Alcander @POOHEAD189
Time/Date: Morning/August 2nd, 2016

Joel chuckled as he saw Claire's initial reaction to seeing him, and he held out his arms as she ran down the hall toward him, leaning into the incoming hug as he wrapped his arms around her, still staggering back a step or two as he laughed, giving her a squeeze as he hugged her. He had more or less expected such a reaction, she was always such an excitable woman and the two were always pleased to see one another, it just usually meant more horrible antics to come. They'd almost destroyed Paris last time, he could only imagine what was to come next.

He set her down gently with a smile and pulled his arms away, shifting them down to pick up his bags again as he kicked his door open gently. "I just got some time off last week, I remembered you telling me your brother was loving it here so I figured i'd try it out, I didn't know you were here too!" He grinned, glancing past her momentarily to the other man she had been with before sprinting off to greet him, giving Alc a nod with a smile before he turned back to Claire, feeling her hand wrap around his wrist.

"Alright, alright, i'm coming." He laughed, tossing his bags into the room and closing the door behind him, not even having the time to move in and look around a bit as he was dragged down the hall, laughing as Claire brought him along to her friend. As she introduced the two, he smiled toward Alc, giving him a nod and a firm handshake, glancing back over to Claire and returning her wink as she spoke. "A pleasure, Alc." He gave the man another nod, bringing his hand up to scratch at his chin. "So, breakfast?"
@Lady Amalthea

Sorry sorry! Going back to uni frazzled me a bit so I forgot where I needed posting still :P
