@Dragonfly 9 Gideon, probably, then we'll be paired off for a bit before the group gathers fully.

@Hyyde322 That actually works well with the follow-up post I already had in mind. I'll respond in a day or two.

In the meanwhile, I'll send you guys a link to an etherpad page in PMs, so it's there if we want to use it. It's not for every post but it's useful if you need to throw back and forth with a conversation partner repeatedly. Especially for characters who don't talk much.

@Abstract Proxy I like the underdress. She's resisting not just the culture but also the genre conventions.
Good posts, guys ~

@King Cosmos @Dragonfly 9 Do you two need any more outside input for your starting posts? Not to hurry you, but since you two are the ones not yet locked into an interaction.

As an aside, I haven't done a group roleplay in years, but back when I did we would use an Etherpad page (a collaborative online text editor) to write dialogue and then post the whole conversation in one go, instead of having to do ten small posts back and forth. That's something to consider for the characters who are about to get into a one-on-one conversation.
It sounds like you may be implicitly putting too much pressure on your partners. It’s quite off-putting when you’re doing the best you can with the limited time you have, feeling like you’re putting out a good amount of material, while your partner is impatiently revving their engine as if they have infinite time on their hands and nothing else to spend it on. And you never need to voice that impatience for it to be obvious. When it takes you a day or two to get around to writing a post you’re happy with while your partner consistently responds within two hours, this recreational activity quickly turns into a job at which your performance will never be sufficient. People want a writing partner who is on their level, who will join them in the challenging task of writing as peers with equal amounts to contribute, not someone they’re constantly lagging behind like Gimli in the Two Towers.
@Hyyde322 Sounds good! If Yadira has been travelling, Gideon probably can't address a letter to her. But she could go to Nagaya looking to discuss that strange event, and Shiri will show her the letter she got.

As for teleportation, it's probably best to keep it limited, so travel won't be too convenient. Perhaps a mage with the right specialization (e.g. Eskel) can do short-range teleportation freely, but long-range can only be done between teleportation circles that are difficult to create and so are only in a few places. So Yadira and Shiri could hire someone to teleport them from Gwangju to Bradena.
Ay, first IC post!

This is just some setup to show her state of mind. After a few others get their posts in, I’ll jump ahead a few days to when she receives Gideon’s letter.

Which raises the question, how prevalent is teleportation magic in this world? Is this high-magic enough for there to be, say, an established teleportation circle between Gwangju and Bradena? That'll make a difference on how quickly she meets up with the others.
(Nagaya village, Nagahoro, one day after the reporter incident)

Shiri was awoken from her uncomfortable slumber by the rustling of curtains and the sensation of sunlight shining through her eyelids. She didn’t want to open her eyes, but she recognised her sister’s elegant footsteps as they moved about the room. She had fallen asleep on Jun’s couch, then. That was good; she had woken up in worse places after drinking too much. Her head hurt though, as it often did in the morning. “Huh,” she hummed just to let her sister know that she was awake.

By the sound of it, Jun approached to loom over her supine form. “Shiri, we need to talk. You can’t keep living like this.”

“Why not?” she groaned without any thought or intent behind her words. She really did not want to have this conversation right now.

“One, because you’re better than this.” Her voice was soft and calm as always, but with that stern edge she didn’t often use. “Renowned heroes shouldn’t go around drinking themselves into a stupor.”

Shiri wanted to roll over, away from the sunlight, but it seemed like so much effort that she just suffered through it. “If I’m such a hero, surely I can do whatever I want.”

“Two,” Jun continued undeterred. “Because I’m sick of picking up after you. I have my own family to care for. I shouldn’t have to worry about my bum of a sister too.”

Damn, she was right on that one. When did she become such a burden, anyways? It seemed like only a week ago since she first crashed drunkenly on her sister’s couch, but she knew that wasn’t right. It felt so inconsequential back then. Just let me not worry about anything for one evening, then I’ll be all good the next morning. Of course, she thought the same thing last time she lapsed into a period of squalor, but somehow she was confident that it would be different this time. So much for that.

Before she could sort her thoughts, Jun roughly poked her in the breast. “Ow,” Shiri groaned listlessly as her body jerked into motion. “What was that for?”

“Just making sure you didn’t pass out while I was speaking. At least get up and take a bath, you look terrible. We can worry about the next step after that.”

“Fine, fine. Let me just… dull my headache first.” She blindly reached over to where she had left her half-empty bottle of rice wine, but found nothing there.

Jun sighed softly. “I took your wine away. Don’t bother searching for it, it’s gone.”

“You bi-” she blurted out, but sharply stopped herself from insulting her sister. She took a deep breath, then cleared her throat. “Thank you. For taking care of me.”

“You’re welcome. Now thank me with your actions, that’s what matters. Besides, how did you get that blood splatter on your dress? Do I want to know?”

Blood splatter? Oh, right. Did that really happen or was that a dream? It didn’t seem real, but she had no other explanation for the blood. “It’s complicated.”

“Well, it’s going to be a pain to wash out. But I’ll try if you toss it with the other laundry.”

With her eyes still closed, Shiri rose stiffly into a sitting position. That made her head hurt even more. “You’re too nice to me, sis.”

“You were always bad at laundry, is all.” Her unseen hand wiped the loose strands of hair from Shiri’s face and tucked them behind her ear. “Now go do what you need to do. And I won’t be this nice if I see you drinking again, understand?”

“I won’t,” she sighed, unsure of whether she was lying. Despite her discomfort, she pried open her eyes just in time to see Jun leaving the room. Or rather, to glimpse the black blob of her hair and the white blob of her dress, as her eyes were still wet and blurry. She had a long and uncomfortable day ahead of her. But perhaps this might be just the start she needed to kick her drinking habit for good. Not likely, she thought, but maybe. Hopefully.
At the moment, Shiri is in Nagahoro, Abraham is in the Nomadic Lands, and I’d imagine the others are spread out across Casperus. Or maybe Crow is in the Nomadic Lands too.

Even though Casperus, Nagahoro, and Tjenbun seem to be Fantasy Europe, Asia, and Africa, I assume they aren’t that far apart, more like three big countries on the same continent. Casperus is in the west, Nagahoro in the east, and Tjenbun assumedly in the south. I don’t know where the Nomadic Lands and Trai Spia are geographically.

If we assert that a part of the Nomadic Lands separates Casperus and Nagahoro, Shiri and Abraham might meet each other on the way to Casperus. Then they can be the last to arrive in Bradena after the others have gathered there. I’d like for Shiri and Gideon to only be reunited once the rest of the group is also complete, so they don’t get the privacy to discuss their awkward situation right away.
I added Naivara and Yadira to my relationships section too. Still mulling on Crow and Alice.
Nice, we're started ~

I'll soon post a prologue for Shiri that won't call for any interaction with other players yet. We should discuss OOC where and how our characters come together. Perhaps they can gather in pairs or small groups before we have a full group reunion.

@Hyyde322 I don't know how it works but I think you can set the join status to 'full' instead of 'apply'.
I’ve added relationship information about Gideon, Eskel, and Abraham to my sheet. Gideon’s we discussed in PMs, the other two are just my estimation of how it would be. Let me know if anyone wants those relationships to be different than described. I’ll do the rest later.
