I like slice of life and anime. I prefer simplistic, yet imaginative writing. Walls are not for Quin.

Province of Ilagorn -- Adventurer's Guild a.k.a. The Delipitated Duck
12th Hour of the 2nd Day, Summer

And here I thought she was scary when she was just taking my application...

The tone of the guildmaster's voice had made her nearly reconsider her choice in applying, but at the same time she would know the reaction of her quitting would be much worse – not that she wanted to quit in the first place. Orena Adberhaven may have been a kind and meek little girl, but she was stubborn. No amount of scare tactics would make her run back to her family.

Standing up from her table she took a light breath in an attempt to find her center. She needed to go up to the counter and sign up for a group. Her first group. As she took her first few steps she tried to be mindful of other people who were walking through the crowd, adventurers who were moving back to their own table from the job board to the service members who were juggling tankards of ale and plates of swine to hungry patrons. She wondered what group she would exactly be paired with. She was a control mage, destined to support her party's back with utility spells. But as an unseasoned adventurer all she had was a small handful of spells and zero practical experience. But given she would be paired with initiates of similar rank she wasn't going to be too out of place.

Or at least she hoped not.

As she reached the counter she prepared to speak up but before she could another person had beat her to it. She turned her head to see who it was.

Province of Ilagorn -- Adventurer's Guild a.k.a. The Delipitated Duck
12th Hour of the 2nd Day, Summer

“You need to apply for a group. Until you find one, don't even think about wasting my time.”

Priscilla Tris was rarely a woman who was kind or patient. As the guildmaster of the Illagorn chapter of the Adventurer's Guild she had turned away hundreds of would-be adventurers. She had seen spoiled princesses puff their cheeks, idiot peasants get on their knees and beg her to reconsider, and even on one occasion had a smart-mouthed upstart threaten her. It very rarely made her change her opinion. But in the last few months? She had to accept people. Illagorn was short on adventurers and her superiors in the larger cities had visited her personally to explain that she couldn't be so "choosy" anymore.

Priscilla had shrugged at the assertion. If the adventurer's guild wanted untrained welps to represent them, she would accept that. But she still wouldn't make it easy. It was her tavern and it was under her name and reputation they marched off to their deaths in.

She moved her cigarette to her lips, taking in the moment as she looked over the adventurers that had assembled as the clock struck noon. A bunch of initiates and a very small amount of experienced men and women. Just great. A bunch of idiots who barely knew how the guild worked who had a long way to go before she deemed them worthy of any significant notation on their record. As she exhaled smoke she stood up from her seat and went to grab the current assortment of jobs. It was about time to add the new postings to the board. It was also time to rein the new blood in and get them sorted. She wasn't going to let a bunch of new initiates take off without a group, but she wasn't going to stop someone if they really wanted to wind up dead at the same time.

She pushed her cigarette down in an ashtray before walking over to the board.

“It's time to shut the fuck up!” She shouted, unamused by the chatter in the tavern. “If you have more than a season under than you, you know the drill. I have a handful of jobs posted from all over the province that you can go and do. All new initiates are required to sign up for a group. All returning adventurers are expected to form one. If you are in the first group, find me and get it sorted. Ignoring me will make sure you don't get paid.”

She looked over the group of men and women who were listening to her. She didn't think any of them were worth her time, let alone an adventurer's badge of any color.

“With that out of the way,” She paused, as she drove a nail into the job board and posted the first new posting of the day. “The postings are up. If you have any questions, let me know after I get our rookies sorted out. Thanks. That's it.”

With the words finished she moved away from the job board and back to her place behind the counter.
Oh, not gonna play Orena after all? Sad.

It is "up in the air". I'd like to, but party is much large. We will see?
I would think so. Much sadness to Ollumhammersong, tho. But I need to do as I do.
@Jay Kalton

I prefer your character lots to the other spellcaster option, but there are some things I am not super duper on.

For starts I'm not very keen on the pocket dimensions and such. I can live with altering a broom for single transportation, but even that seems like less magey-mage and more typical witch which is not how I looked at mages and stuff here. The rest of the sheet seems OK-ish, but yeah those two might need some adjustments before acceptance.
Mortimer is a strange surname, but oh no, now I have to think extra hard! Give me a few hours to go over the additional magez. Gotta decide party comp and stuff.

@Cu Chulainn's to-be Bard is accepted, tho.

For some reason, you have always wanted to be something more. Your village needed you, but for some reason, you left it. Your yearning of something more than the mundane was naive and impulsive, but it was who you are and you are proud of that fact. Your path led you through the world that you have known for the last eighteen or so years of your life. This world is huge and unexplored, though what is explored is known through the petty Kingdoms that make up the "civilized" portion. But you are not a king or princess. You are on the bottom of the totem pole. Or mostly bottom. But you believe through great effort, luck, or skill you can climb the pole and craft a legacy that is more than mundane. But the life of an adventurer is not so easy.

The gods are not kind to those who are unprepared or cocky! The gods are like a cruel mistress without a much-needed bubble bath.

The world is a large and mostly unexplored place.

For centuries, monsters and demons have been a constant. Goblin hordes shuffle in the darkness like the mythical dwarves once did, spiders skitter within the largest forests and mountains, and birds of prey look for their next meal with a insaitable hunger. But the darkest things are not the monsters that roam the landscape, but rather the corruptable spirit of human and elf alike -- a spirit that demons felt from across the void. All it took was the right amount of desperation from the mages who hid in their fortresses and enclaves from the devouring hordes. Dark magic helped in repelling the monsters who were still picking their teeth from the bones of the dwarves, but ultimately it would create a cycle of consorting with non-primordial magics. Years upon years after the use of dark magic to fell a good portion of the goblinoid population, one mage was possessed by a demon whom would become known as The Demon King.

With the help of a fallen angel (and the advent of holy magics) the Demon King was destroyed and sealed away. Dark magics were outlawed in most petty kingdoms and a rebuilding era would begin. It has been two hundred years since this occured.

In the township of Ilagorn, one chapter of the Adventurer's Guild is doing business as usual. For some reason you appeared at their doorsteps, hungry from adventure. What is your story?

I am not, like, the biggest fan of jerkfaces. So don't be a jerkface! Rules of RPG should be easy to look at. Listen to me, I don't like stomping feet. If people have problem with me or other players, we should compromise and resolve it! But I will ban if people are like goblins and only here to hurt others.

This world is like influenced by Akame Ga Kill and Grimgar and stuff. So you should keep that in mind. There can be hope and naive ideas and stuff, but ultimately the world is kinda rough and tough. So those anime should be considered as a good idea for tone when you are designing your character, their goals, and maybe future events you'd like to see. Other than that, posting should be kinda patient; sometimes posts don't come, but I think maybe once a week will be the rule. I don't want this to be too fast, but also not going to limit posts either.

5 characters. Maybe 6 if I also play a character.

Writing level is casual section. But effort makes the bestest. Word vomit is bad, but good paragraphs aren't! Not a rule but Quin was taught in school that paragraphs should be at least three or four sentences, so use that as a guide! Any other rules and stuff should be in the character sheet. Quality over quantity!

I think that is all?

There are four central classes of the adventurer profession, though there is always room for interpretation. Such things are the fighter, cleric, rogue, and the mage. Interpretations include things like the ranger, assassin, duelist, brawler, wizard, witch, paladin, hunter, and many other things but such things cannot be described to newbie adventurers so we must go with the basics.

Each class is trained through adventurer's guild experts or experience in developing things on their own. One is faster for acquiring new knowledges, but also much more costly. Those who struggle to handle slimes and goblins early on often depend on these experts at the cost of their wealth. Generally though, a newly minted type of person holds at least the fundamentals and a few abilities. I will direct said abilities, though you are free to suggest ideas or even give alternate suggestions. But level one of sorts will be set. That said we should note this story is less about crunch-a-dunch and more about feelings, bonds, trauma, and watnot. Characters will be expected to have a degree of plot armor and I will be very forgiving. But you will maybe get injured and have to deal with that. You might have to deal with PC death, though, so keep in mind that you might have to make new character later in the story.

In addition to class I will ask about the profession your character abandoned and allow you some passive skills to go with what you learned in your old trade. For example, if you were a blacksmith you will be talented in apprenticeship blacksmithing and stuff. I will leave fairly open for creative development! This also includes your childhood heirloom and I will judge sheets on how well people balance class, profession, and backstory.

Oh! Races should be human or elf! Any gender.
