The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
I'm not convinced that half the reason that there are all the Fulcrums is because of the current attitude of 'Russia, Fuck yeah!', and that for some reason there's a movement among a lot of people that Russia and it's military technology are somehow underrated and 'amazing' compared to everyone elses' stuff. Not that I'm saying they're not more than adequate, or even exemplary.
I also think that it's because the MiG-29 is the only aircraft on the list that a lot of people will have heard of, and rather than looking into any of the others, people have just gone for the only one they know anything about, and the one that's the most 'modern' and relevant to their knowledge, rather than looking up on the capabilities of any of the others.
Really, Rafale made the best point (because he's awesome):
Remember, the story is about the character, not the plane. Just look at games like Ace Combat; if we take the canon plane of the Razgriz, for example, their F-5E's and F-14A's pale in comparison to many of the things they face, but they become feared as some of the greatest pilots in their world nonetheless. A man becomes an ace because of their own skills, not their plane

Just noticed that the listing of Matthew on the main page in "Active Characters" is slighty borked. A [/*] should be enough to solve it. :)OT: My character is not reluctant to fly a Jaguar, I don't really know how the MiG-29 can be that much better than all the other aircraft listed in the OP. But again, that could just be my lack of knowledge on the field.
I'll edit that so it's sorted, thanks for pointing it out. And yeah, my character loves her plane, and I look forward to putting it into action as well. I don't see how it's going to slow me down or be anything but a great plane, and the same for anything else on that list.
As it is, I suppose I can reluctantly throw the F-16 and SU-27 into the OP list and remove a couple of other things, since there seems to be a desire to have them in there, despite the vast array of other aircraft to choose from.

Plus like to tell my guys' stories during the rp.
Just so long as any 'big reveals' that might affect the plot are notified to me in advance - otherwise it might come across a bit like godmodding. And that you're just making it up as you go along. But sure, that's fine.

Can the more knowledgeable folk here recommend a thrust vectorable or already thrust vectoring pair of engines to replace the 25's Mach 3+ turbojets? Or, if possible, can the turbojets themselves be modified and made to thrust vector? Wiki says thrust vectoring is typically only used with turbofans.
I wasn't aware of that myself, but the MiG-31, which is a development of the MiG-25 uses turbofan engines, specifically these, and I have no issues with a thrust-vectored version of those being used. The SU-47 used them as well, and it had thrust-vectoring, so it's been done before.

Maybe later updates o 3oWe'll go with what we've got at the moment o 3o
You fixed the part that was primarily out of place, the Su-29 instead of MiG-29. In theory it could use a few more weapons for air-to-ground ops, as the MiG-29 can carry more ordnance, but that's up to you.

With current posted sheets, we have 4 males and 3 females (2 in one plane).I was looking through the plane list and saw the MiG-25 Foxbat. One of my favorite planes so I'll be using that. Plus, we don't have an interceptor yet.
Glad you're keen to use it - I wasn't sure about including it to begin with as I was a bit dubious that navalizing it would be plausible, but eh, why the heck not.

I did, but come to think of it, I feel like changing the aircraft model slightly to the F-111F. If that's ok with you, its a more modernized variant, and comes with FLIR and a laser designation system already on board. Plus the B had a lot of problems during its development, leading it to be outclassed by the Tomcat during its production. (Plus the B was meant to be a anti-bomber craft, I want a ground attacker with slight air-to-air capabilities.:P)
Sure, I have no worries with you taking an F-111F at all. Having the more modernized variant makes sense to me, especially with the areas you'd like to focus on as well. Sounds like a good way to take it, and I look forward to seeing your updates!

Alright, so because I'm a strange person, I ended up starting with the plane then moving onto the character. I'll just post the plane here for now so I can get opinions on it.
It all looks good to me, man! And the idea of an Iranian defector makes perfect sense too. Look forward to seeing more!

Beginning work on my CS. Seems we're becoming close to equal with male and female pilots. Any preference? I can go either way.
It's fine with whichever you'd like to do - male or female is fine.
Slyp, your characters are fine. And their pictures are as well, photo's aren't required, it's just that I chose to use one as it was easier to find a suitable character picture. Also, did you consider an F-111B? that was the naval variant that was never produced. Good job otherwise though, I love the F-111 and it's cool to have one in the unit. And I'll add your sheet to the OP ASAP.

Will do my last CS tonight not enough time to do it right now so reserving that spot for him
You don't need to completely repost it, you can just edit the existing one. There's literally only the single error on your sheet that really needs resolving, along with a little more detail that could use being added to bring it up to scratch with the others.
Well, I stuffed a better engine in the Kfir since the J79 was outdated, and used more up-to-date versions of the weapons it carried. It's just a case of thinking of what you think would make it 'better' and more capable, really!
The Draken is a gorgeous aircraft, and I think with mods it'll be incredibly competitive - but like you say, there's a lot to add in there to get there. Still, I'm eagerly awaiting the outcome!
Yeah! I've been playing an ongoing storyline with a group of my friends here in the UK. We're all spread out - as you do, as you all grow older - and we used to all play regularly when we were younger. So, I started up the idea of a semi-regular get together where we could all play together around one every month or so at one of our houses. We're playing a tabletop RP based in a home-made sci-fi setting that's heavily influenced by a lot of things, such as Macross, Halo, and Mass Effect. The rules we're using are a heavily modified version of the Mekton Zeta/Fusion rules system. We've been playing for about four to five years now with a continuous story!

I don't want to be an arse or anything, but there's a huge difference between Su-29 and a MiG-29. xDI'm so sorry, just seeing flying about the battlefield like a badass will be too hard on my brain.
I'm strongly tempted to add it to the aircraft list for teh Lulz. xD

Writing the aircraft details/armanents was probably the hardest part in the whole CS, haha. I've done a fair bit of research, but more weapons are always welcomed! I'll edit it tomorrow. :D
No rush at all! It doesn't need to be an extensive list of course, but I don't want you to miss out on weapon options. I think with the mods you've added, your Jag will be much more of a multi-role aircraft too :D
