The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
Don't tar all of us with the same brush :P I've been much more reserved. Not that we don't have a very attractive cast assembled, but that's meant to be a compliment, not a leer.

Really i am not big on motto's...to me actions speak louder than words so >.>. You could have the most awesome motto yet if you can't do anything then well...kinda pointless
Darn. And I was planning this game to be one where all of our characters were tremendously ineffectual and never achieved anything. [/massive sarcasm]
Seriously, can we stop arguing about this now? I'm getting really bored of coming onto the OOC and seeing all this e-peen waggling and arguing about a motto that doesn't even have any influence on anything. It's really not relaxing, or fun mediating discussions between a bunch of people who seem to be deliberating rubbing each other up the wrong way.
The game is here for having fun playing fighter pilots. It's not for discussing politics. Relax, chill out, and enjoy the pretty fighter jets and the action. Don't get all twisted panties because (shockingly) someone on the internet doesn't agree with you about something: who cares, it's not part of what we're doing anyway.
TLDR, stop squabbling like a bunch of idiots. Be nice to each other, and calm your tits.
The IC will go up tomorrow. I'm tired and I feel like ass today.
As for the motto i just don't like the chivalrous thing. Personally it just doesn't seem right fit but again i am probably against a majority. I wil grow to like it eventually but right now eh....not the best one i have seen.
Actually, the Chivalry bit is the bit I DO like. I'm not really aiming to run a nihilistic grim slog through aerial warfare. I want to have fun, and enjoy being a big damn hero and a good guy. That's the game I'm running here, Sorry if it's not 'edgy' or 'realistic' enough for everyone, but I would've thought the submarine aircraft carrier and the mention of railguns, lasers and sci-fi tech would've pointed out that this isn't going to be teh sooper realistic and 'gritty'.

I mean, how many aircrafts are there typically in a real-life fighter squadron?
I think it depends on which air force it is, which kind of aircraft it is, and what they do. I'm not basing this on any research currently, but it stands to reason there'd be less aircraft in a heavy transport or bomber squadron than there might be in a fighter squadron. Also, fighter squadrons don't always deploy in their whole to a region of operations, from my understanding. And also, this is an unusual situation and circumstance, so the numbers and rules might not necessarily apply in the same way. I think the number we have is somewhere between a couple of flights of aircraft and a whole squadron.
EDIT:
First hit on google:
Squadron, a unit of aircraft that consists of three or four flights with a total of 12 to 24 aircraft, depending on the type of aircraft and the air force, naval or army air service. Squadron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squadron
Right, I've added the latest two characters to the OP, and I think that's everyone's characters all posted and accounted for. While I'm busy mostly today and potentially tomorrow, I'll work up the intro to the IC in my head, and then get it up and post at my earliest opportunity so we can begin. I have a pretty straightforward mission for our beginning sortie, which is probably just as well, but will lead us into the rest of the plot and the adventure, and get our characters all into the action quickly, and then allow us to be introduced to one another in short order.
Thanks for being patient and waiting so far, and I'm glad the OOC hasn't been quiet. It's also good to have seen you all helping one another out with questions and queries where possible too. I'm looking forward to starting.
Yeah, I like the one Rafale came up with for the same reason - it fits in with all the Arthurian references, and has a ring of honour and nobility to it, which I personally feel fits well. Especially since we're supposed to be the good guys.
I'm very impressed with the characters posted, both are definitely approved. When I have more of a chance, I'll add them to the OP. Rafale, it seems likely that our characters may have heard of one another, even if they haven't met. Or only met in passing.
Re: the Nimue's runway, it's smaller and straighter than a normal aircraft carrier, as it's a submarine. I'll try and post a diagram once I have more time to do so. If you re-read the info in the OP though, it does have more about aircraft launch and recovery and storage, as well as the ship facilities.
I also love the motto - I think it sums up what to aspire to perfectly. The chivalry aspect fits in neatly with all the Arthurian references as well.

Hey silver can i use the F-5 Tiger II?
By all means, please feel free to take it :) It's a very good aircraft - upgraded ones can use AMRAAMs, and they can mount a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons.
