The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Won't get into a long-winded explantation of where I've been, but basically real-life decided to throw me a curve ball. This has resulted in me having severly limited internet access. However, I'm going to stick with the roleplay, and I'll see about submitting a post as soon as possible.
Yeah, it seems to be happening to a lot of people right now. I had some RL issues earlier this week myself too, so I can sympathise. Glad you're still with us though, and I'll cross my fingers you can carry on carrying on.

I sincerely apologize for my inactivity. School (and real life in general) takes more of my free time than I've expected. Well, I guess this is what I get for getting in one of the region's toughest ones.I think it would be the best for both me and the RP if I leave. Sorry it had to be this way! I'll be the happiest if I can rejoin sometimes later.Swift signing out.
No worries, it seems to be happening to a lot of people at the moment. Rest assured you'll be welcome to come back when you can. I'll write out your character as having to RTB for mechanical issues, so you'll be free to come back later on.

Alright, when do I fly?
I'll get a post up later today, or early tomorrow, moving things along so I can introduce you and Keyblade sooner rather than later. I'll also PM the other two folks who expressed some interest but never posted anything to see if they still wanna join in or not too.
Thanks for posting, man! Glad you're still with us. I'll give Mateotis another day to post, and then make another post either way, moving us on toward the action.
Another post up, setting the scene for all of you. Your moves, ladies and mentlegen. As soon as you've all posted a first reply, I'll start racking things up a bit and get the action started.
Silverwind's GEAR gave a thumbs up to Edward and the others in the ATCV, before the machine leaned to the left on its' foot-wheels, gesturing to Mike and Kuraiko's GEARs to follow suit with hand-signals as the one-eyed fox veered off and headed for the small and seemingly abandoned settlement marked as one of the possible hostile locations.
As the GEARs left the vehicle behind, Silverwind intiated a laser-com between the three of them, glancing at the C3i display as he did. "Prowler, once we're within a closer distance, move on ahead. Scout out and see if there's anything in the settlement giving a clear sign of the enemies' presence. If you do see any hostiles, engage to disable their rear area and infrastructure. Aihara, stick with me and we'll push up the middle using the buildings as cover. If we see hostiles, we engage to withdraw and wait for the others to arrive before committing to a battle."
The buildings resolved themselves from the afternoon heat-haze; a collection of white-washed buildings of only a few storeys each, mixed with a handful of generic municipal and business buildings. All of them looked ramshackle and weathered, with no glazing in the windows and once cheerful red-tiled roofs that had scattered their tiles across the ground, or lost them to the elements.
Meanwhile, the trio of Landcrawlers loomed large in the landscape. The orange-toned wheeled vehicles were somewhat less monolithic and imposing than the land-leviathans of Landcruisers, but still looked like mobile landscape features, and were impressive in size, dwarfing the ATCV, and twice the height of a GEAR. All three stood silent and motionless, bearing the scars of the hostile incident that had resulted in the Roughriders being called out. Blast patterns and carbon-scoring decorated their hulls, and empty casings from shells were scattered liberally around the area. Debris and random items spread out in a halo from the vehicles; personal effect, empty crates and the like. It was scarily still, with barely a sound carried on the wind, and the doors to the insides of the cavernous vehicles standing open.
Up slope at the Copper Mine where Adrian and Aiden had moved into position, the sniper scope revealed little of note. The mine, formerly sealed off with a grated gate, had been opened up. Tools and machinery were scattered around the entrance, but all were heavily rusted and weathered from years of exposure to the Badlands climate, Spoil-heaps and discarded containers and crates littered the ground, with the mine entrance itself a dark, gloomy opening wide and tall enough for a GEAR to enter with ease. Indeed, a half-salvaged mining GEAR lounged on the ground against one side of the upper slope, sat on its' behind with legs sprawled and one arm resting on a knee. Covers and access panels had been removed, and the UHD batteries and much of the electrical systems had clearly been picked clean.
Team three and four haven't changed, as they're already posted, and there's no GEARs to be shuffled around. Team One's target has changed to the residential area, to justify there being three GEARs in that team.
Well, Nautilus hasn't posted IC for three weeks, and hasn't made a mention of his whereabouts. So, looks like the boot is coming in for him. Mateotis, I'm going to go ahead and just move past the recon element. If you're still around, you're on the line as well, as it's been a week since your last post too (but not three..), and have us head on to the exit from the airspace so we can intro the characters. Hopefully that'll bring a bit of life back into the game.
