The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Well, it's 6 days since the last GM post, so anyone who's not posted yet has a day. If you all get your posts up today, then it'll be fine.
I think you're concentrating too much on the facts, and not enough on the fun.
Plus, I have ideas already about how things will run - I tend to plan things in advance for what I think will make the best excitement for the player group I have - all of which (yourself excluded) are less interested or preoccupied with the hard facts, and more interested in doing stuff that's cool. And I include myself in that - I point you back to my rules document:

Realism is not as important as dramatic licence and a sense of fun. I don’t care how many technical specifications and abbreviations you know and try to dazzle us with. Or exactly what the startup procedures for whatever aircraft you fly are.
We’re telling a story about characters, with a level of drama, action and excitement. Add enough realism to keep it interesting to read, and make it flow. But don’t get bogged down in the details and minutiae, or try and make everyone else follow them. It gets boring and annoying quickly.

So, don't worry as much about loiter times, etc. I'm not running a simulation, I'm running a plot-oriented game with dramatic flourish and action. Sure, there may be facts to support things, but I don't really want to spend my time poring over figures, statistics and technical documents. I want to write and have fun, and do, y'know, other stuff with my time as well. As I'm sure the rest of us do as well.
But if I do want to find out something for reference and make a point of it, I'll be sure to ask you, as you seem to have all the information available, and that's good to know.
Wat
Yeah, I actually figured without looking it would probably be possible without refuelling mid-air for most of the aircraft, but I like to play fast-and-loose with things, and it was a bit more interesting in terms of the story and game to have something break up the flight, so I thought I'd throw the refuelling in there. Plus, our unit needs some more training together, so it works in that regard too, along with the general idea that things are a bit chaotic and thrown together in the wake of the attack earlier. I appreciate the info and the heads up, for sure.
I haven't approved your character yet, Foster. I'd ask that you not post in the IC until I have.

EDIT: Although, that said, your personal history was the only bit I hadn't seen yet and it's fine, so I'll consider them approved anyway. A narrow escape this time! xP hehe.

I'll add you and your deets to the list of active players as well.
Sorry, I've been having a go-slow on my posts. I'll get something up by the end of the day!
@Foster your character looks good so far. Great and unique choice of aircraft. While I don't know more than the profile you've linked states about it, for that the JF-17 seems like a capable aircraft, and not a bad-looking one either. Also, I love how ghetto that SMG you've chosen looks, but it seems like a pretty decent weapon!

Interested to see the personal history to go with the character - get it up, and I'll see about writing your character in, as long as it all fits in. Although, if it's as on-form as the rest of your character, I'm sure it'll be fine.
Great posts guys, keep 'em coming.
Any or all of those would be a perfect fit. Well, not the WW2 ones, but the other ones I mean :P
Some hostile MiG-35's turned up in the beginning of the game actually, and a couple of friendly F-18's as well.
Bump - we still have place for 2-4 more players for the game if anyone's interested. I'd like to have an even number of aircraft and pilots for the game. The game is moving well at the moment, but maybe a couple more players would keep things smoothly, especially since we've had a few people register their interest, but then not post a character, or drop out completely for various reasons. Be good to get a few more in while things aren't too far in or too advanced to make it too difficult to add any new characters.
