The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...
I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.
Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.
No replies to the IC after 8 days? big oof. I'm away from home due to family events at the moment, but will be back into things ASAP - as long as people are still interested anyway.
Sure is; the link is in my sig, and is a couple of posts back as well. We need a few more players as there's not really much activity, despite the game starting.
Silver's ears flicked and he frowned, and looked around curiously as Max pointed out the sound, with Cat soon doing the same thing. She sat up, shieding her eyes with her hands and squinting up into the skies, while Silver did the same thing from his elbows-back position. Both looked on in amazement and interest as Anna swooped over the beach, performing her elegant and spectacular manoeuver, before coming in for a dramatic landing. Silverwind applauded with a grin, while Cat gave a whistle of appreciation. Like Max, the pair stood up, dusting the sand off of themselves and moving closer to get a better look at the powered wing suit. Silver moved around Anna as she spoke to Max, admiring the suit and getting a closer look. "No kidding that's cool, Anna" he commented after she and Max had said their piece. "I can already imagine how much it's gonna change things... and how much fun it is," he said with a grin and a wag of his tail. "We're all going to be flying everywhere pretty soon," he said with a shake of his head. "Changing the way we do things fer sure".
First IC is up; thought I'd ease into a gentle start with everyone arriving into the briefing room so we all have a chance to get some character introspection and introductions inside our characters' heads, before launching into the briefing and any questions anyone has to ask. I'll keep the first mission simple and straight-forward - much as Scott is suggesting from his notes - but exciting enough nonetheless. We can get into the bigger and badder stuff as things go on :3
Scott looked over the briefing notes on the tablet he held one last time. The objectives were all relatively simple and straightforward, as was the mission itself. But he was experienced enough to know that it was always the simple ones that caught you out, and knew better than to expect anything to go as planned. The old axiom was 'no plan survives contact with the enemy', and with an enemy like Elysium, that was even more the case. Flying and fighting a mission didn't have him nervous. Even with whatever weird and wonderful terrors Elysium might decide to throw at them, that was just combat. A series of actions and reactions, responses to things that other people were doing. What had him really nervous was that he was going to be commanding a squadron. It wasn't the first time commanding people in combat. He'd lead flights before, and been in charge of a strike here and there. But actually being in official, executive control and command of a unit... yeah, that was something that made the butterflies flying B-52's in his stomach do loop-the-loops. He'd read all the files on the people he was going to be in command of; their records spoke for themselves and he was proud to have such accomplished men and women under his command. Doing them and their careers was going to be a big ask, but it was something he'd have to deal with. He'd passed the psych and profile interviews, and the paperwork was filed: it was too late to go back now. He forced the doubts out of his mind as he saw the time tick over at the top of the tablet computers' display. He rolled an eye down the list of names and glanced toward the door, waiting for the first of his new unit of aviators to arrive into the carriers' briefing room.
Jesha gave a brisk nod of acknowledgement to Tomlin's answer, her ears twitching as she listened in to the rest of the final moments of the briefing. The objective was clear, and the task ahead of them seemed straightforward enough... although, she knew well enough that was no guarantee that things would go as smoothly as plotted out. It just meant there were less complicated places where things could go wrong without the Empire sticking their noses into it. As Tomlin dismissed the squadron, she rose, looking around at the other pilots as she left, getting a look at their faces and expressions and trying to gauge how they felt alongside her own mingled feelings of excitement and trepidation as she headed out the door and in the direction of the ready room to prepare herself, and then her ship.
I haven't picked anything specific yet, but I'll come up with something shortly
If Gisk has gone with Raptor Two, then I guess I'll take Raptor Three. As far as a nick-name goes (other than her shortened name), like a TAC name or callsign, I'll rely on the way real aviators do it, and see what comes to pass as we play.
Cat grinned and gave a nod of agreement to Max's comment; this definitely was a welcome break. After the last few months of frantic action, twists and turns of conspiracies and mortal injuries, it was a much-needed moment that had none of those things, just a simple, peaceful reminder that there were other aspects to life and society than horrible people doing miserable things to each other, and living with stress, pressure and secrecy as the normal day-to-day. The huge bovine gave a relaxed sigh and stretched back, supporting herself on her elbows and stretching out her legs, looking up at the sky and letting the sun warm through her fur and hair. "It's nice to just be lazy," she commented to Max and Anna after a few moments, without looking to either of them. "I needed a moment like this, and I hope we don't have to wait too long for another one". Silver waded out of the water and made his way back up the beach to the group, shaking his fur out en route; the saltwater would dry his fur out fairly raggedly too. But there'd be time to shower before they embarked on the mission and he had to change into his pilot gear. He sat down on the side alongside the others, smiling over. "That was... refreshing," he said with a chuckle. "Can see why ya did the jump in, too," he commented to Max, as he sat with his elbows resting on his knees and let the sun dry out the rest of his fur, and enjoying the peace and quiet. The same thoughts that Max and Cat had discussed wove their way through his mind too; the peace and quiet was there to be enjoyed, and the moment was a breather from the bouncing from mission to mission of the normal daily routine of his life. How long since the last proper break? Even this was a snatched moment between other things. The thought was a wince-worthy sting, and the silver fox resolved that soon, as soon as he was able, there'd be time for himself.
