The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Old man Blade has made a post.
Not sure about everyone else - I think there was a wait for a post from me. I haven't been feeling very motivated lately, also adjusting to working again has been a bit hard. Should be back on track now, though.
As his group came to a halt and the recon team moved ahead, Blade issued orders in concise, short snaps of dialogue.
"Spread out, take cover and watch our approaches. Passive sensors only, and direct comms - we don't know who's out there waiting. Stand ready".
He took the Harlock to one knee behind an outcropping of rock crowned with wiry shrubs, and switching his sensors to passive mode. Following this, he switched feed to the recon team, and was immediately confronted with a holo-screen image of an attractively plump female feline posterior sashaying it's way across his screen.
"What the hell is this?" he snarled into the mike. "Cut this shit out right now! Get your mind out of her ass, and onto the mission, or I will personally reach through this monitor and throttle you!"

Goddamn kids.
Bryan picked up his lead-bearing gear, and started to put himself back into combat condition.
"She's not wrong," continued Bryan, taking over the conversation. "The NWA made a deal with a back-stabbing submarine officer, which gave them access to nukes. A whole submarine-full of 'em. The thought of neo-nazi's with nuclear weaponry and an agenda makes me feel all kinds of horrified. Kind of felt like it was my business to intervene and grab the detonators, and stash them somewhere. Alika's right: we need to get off of this island, before they find us, or the detonators. Even then - I'd like to do something about that sub, but I don't have the weapons or gear to do it. And even if I did, I don't reckon I could do it on my own anyway..."
He left the sentence hanging, and looked around the clearing at the others, as he bent to retrieve his helmet, and MP5.

Meanwhile, at the truck, a woman's voice sounded as Kyle lifted the tarp covering the cargo bed with his pistol.
"Don't shoot! Please, don't shoot! I'm a friendly, a-a scientist! Professor Melissa DeWinter, I'm a geneticist. University of Kyoto!"
A look revealed a wide-eyed, dark haired woman. She had some evidence of Japanese features, but they were blended with caucasian notes to her face and body. Dressed in tropical-clothing, she was curled up in the corner of the trucks' cargo bed, hands up in a defensive posture.
I've recently been catching up with the IDW More Than Meets The Eye transformers G1 comics, and I've got the bug for doing some RP within a transformers setting.
I'd like to do something with a lot of character background and a bit of depth, but I don't want to run a huge RP with multitudes of people, and I'd really like to get a 1x1 actually going somewhere.

The idea I had in mind would be to play Autobot Special Forces, or a pair of other characters somehow operating together, and working away from home. I'd prefer OC's to Canon characters, but Canons would make appearances, and have influence on the plot overall too.

Primarily, the driving force would be to get somewhere and find someone or something, and the events that happen along the way - and potentially on the way back - and how our characters personalities would affect the journey.

Romance wouldn't be the main point, but there could be some. I'm picturing a kind of buddy-cop vibe, with the two characters playing off of each other. Mostly kind of light-hearted, but with moments of brutal seriousness and drama.

Fingers crossed someone is up for this - I've never had a 1x1 go anywhere.

There's already two Delta squads, one from OADF and another that's a (made up) mercenary squadron. :PWouldn't hurt if there were two Elizabeths XD

We can just use different shortened versions for each of them - one 'liz' and one 'beth'. If the players don't object, of course.
You also sat he's a pilot and not a sniper, but that's erroneus - Kwan has been a soldier far longer than he's been an aviator if you look at his background. He originally enlisted as a pilot and served exclusively as one - going by his background - from 1987-1990ish and then for more than a decade, two if you remember that the setting is 2014, has been working primarily as a fighter on the ground. That's more than long enough to have learned as much as he needs to. Basically, your justification comes across like you haven't read his character sheet properly.

Either way, Rafale is right - you're stating opinions as facts, and autopiloting someone elses' character in order to make yours look better. Please don't.
This is not the only complaint I've had from a played regarding your character. You are officially on thin ice.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop out of this one. I was planning to get my CS up real soon but... stuff happens I guess. Silver, sorry if I got your hopes up (again >_<). But yeah, I just won't be able to do this RP. I hope you guys have fun with it though.

I kind of figured you wouldn't be joining in, since you hadn't posted your sheet already.
Bryan accepted the canteen with thanks, and took a long drink of the water, as his apparent rescuer explained who she was, and what she was doing here. Replacing the cap on the canteen, he set it down as he slowly sat up properly.
"To answer your questions - We're on Buka Island, which is part of Bougainville Province of Papua New Guinea. My name is Bryan Winterman, Canadian Armed Forces MP. As for the NWA, well - your guess is as good as mine, but I stumbled across them doing some kind of arms deal on the quayside with a submarine captain. I'm guessing they have some sort of plan... I kind of, well. Stole their shit, and they took offence to that, and now they're trying to find me. Still, I figured it's better out of their hands, ey?"
He hesitated, and judged her reaction. She seemed professional, if a little young. But nonetheless, she was keeping a close eye on him with both her drone, and her personal weapon in a position to be quickly snapped up to her hand.
Bryan was about to say more, when a polite voice interrupted both of them.

"All three of you, don't move an inch! I've got a... erm... sniper, watching this area. Tell me who you all are and no one will get hurt." He menacingly bared his AKS-74U and he saw the equally menacing glare of the scope from the rocks where Aoi had positioned himself. "I'm not with the NWA, if you're wondering."

Bryan looked startled for a moment, and raised his hands in supplication to the newcomer.
"Easy now," he said, slowly climbing to his feet, still a little wobbly, but feeling much better. "Let's not do anything rash, ey? There's enough NWA running around trying to kill all of us, let alone us start shooting each other. I'm Bryan Winterman, Canadian Forces; Military Police. And this is Alika. We've only just met too. I'm glad to hear you're not with the NWA."
He looked over the man, seeing his obvious asian features and his lack of uniform, before he gave a grim smile. "Of course, you don't exactly look like the type, if you don't mind me saying".

Elsewhere, and a short distance away, the NWA soldiers attacked Kyle fell, shouting in pain and chaos. Most had fallen dead where he shot, while others were in no condition to fight back. The remaining men scattered and fired back from the cover of the truck, or by the roadside. Their rifles chattered and popped in reply to the hammering bursts of Kyle's heavier weapon.
"Let's just get the hell out of here!" one of the soldiers urged to the others. "The bitch in the back can rot, and we don't need this prisoner anyway!"
"The boss will kill us if we leave without her," his squad mate urged, his eyes wide. "We should-"
He was cut off as his skull was perforated by one of Kyles' rounds. Cursing and muttering, the remaining man scattered into the jungle, leaving the truck unattended, aside from the dead and dying.

Back from teh dad's house! Will be posting soon.UPDATEDAlright, I posted. Following the plan previously discussed, my character will interact with Bryan before Rafale's character shows up. Allowing Silver to both respond to my character and the arrival of Rafale's character to keep things from getting confusing chronologically.

I'll reply this evening, as I'm shortly heading out to work. Thanks for the post though, and I'll make sure my reply covers everything and gets us moving again.

Completely different subject, a very late one to be discussing (by one day), but I finally read over your post in detail, Blackwolf, and it bothered me how you set up Aoi to immediately be a novice and a bad shot, going so far as stating;Normally, decisions about the character's skills and what he is doing should fall into the writer of the character's hands, not another player. I didn't say in any of my former post that he was a bad shooter, in fact, I made him state the opposite. Thus, this would fall into the category of being a strain of power-playing, which is usually frowned upon.I'm not trying to be a jerk, just stating my own opinion and preferences and if you could do something about this, I would be extremely appreciative of it.

Rafale is completely right - I have mentioned this in the rules to the game in the first post.
If it's your characters opinion that someone looks like they don't know what they're doing, then that's fine. But if the player has stated in their post that they do know what they're doing and are in fact good at their job/task/whatever, then that's kind of putting words into their mouths - metaphorically speaking - or taking control to some degree of someone elses' character, and that's something that's not really okay.
