The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

Don't know what you guys are talkin 'bout. I'm captivated by that Intruder o 3o

I had to get the Sea Eagles under the wings 'specially. I'm still not over happy with it, but that's mainly due to the kit itself, than my building of it. And also because I'd like to build another Intruder in another scheme too... if I had the space to display it, anyway.

Dat Terminator, man. I think I'm in love.

That's the plane of an enemy (ish) ace from the RP I run. It was a bitch to build, and, sadly, has been smashed by a shelf falling off the wall on top of it. But it gives me an excuse to track down a better quality Flanker/Terminator/Etc kit, if possible.

And no, no-one has missed anything, becase the Guild has been down for the last few days. Hopefully once people realise it's back, we'll get posts going again.
Here's the link to my Photobucket album. There aren't any descriptions, as I tend to just use my Photobucket as a store for uploading files to my build threads on a modelling forum I'm on.

The majority of the non-modified (or at least, non-extensively modified) ones are from my off-site RP, Thunderbolt Black. I printed my own decals for them, and built the aircraft as per the descriptions for each players' aircraft.
The others are either creations from my own imagination, or are from the novel I'm writing.

EDIT: Better album links here, as they have descriptions.

My models aren't exactly expertly finished when it comes to painting, but I enjoy the construction a lot more. I'll post the links to a gallery when I'm home and back on my own PC.
I only ever build fictional versions of things - it appeals to the creative side of me a lot more than replicating things 'as-is'

What models were you working on, Silver?

I've been making 1/48 scale versions of the aircraft from the novel I'm working on, modfying the relevant kits to be accurate. So far, I'm working on an F-111 and I was working on an F-16, but the landing gear uh, 'catastrophically failed', when I was almost finished with it. Fortunately, I've been able to source another one from a better manufacturer and salvage all the parts to use later.
Mine had it's ups and downs, but was mostly good and enjoyable. I had a lot of nice food, and did a good amount of model-making. However, I also managed to cut myself twice, and one of my models turned into a disaster. I fixed my bicycle though, and saw some friends and family.
Scott was as prepared as one could be for the nuclear detonation. Seeing the bright flash high above and behind, he instantly squeezed his eyes shut, fearing he'd seen the detonation of the bomb, or whatever it was. But when it wasn't immediately followed with eye-searing brightness or the slamming turbulence of a blastwave, he cautiously an curiously opened both eyes. Instead of the apocalyptic image of a mushroom cloud claiming Oured, there was instead a patchwork of contrails and tracers, and of wreckage falling to earth, glimmering in the sunlight.
Feeling the hand around his heart relax a little, he rechecked the radar-scope, and was relieved to see reinforcements had arrived. And moreover, they were seriously clearing house.
As he watched, the aircraft scythed hostiles out of the air, left right and center, before forming up around the Peace Sparrows' loose formation.

"Peace Sparrow, this is Major Dustin Zondervan, of the Belkan Air Force, Seventh Air Division, Twenty-first Tactical Fighter Squadron "Templar", with Fortieth TFS "Wichianmat" and Tenth Interceptor Unit "Wolf", all under NUN orders. The airspace is secure, nuclear threat eliminated. We shall escort you to get refueled and we'll lead you to new basing. Can you refuel alright? We can land at the nearby CAC base if repairs are essential, but I'd prefer not to waste anytime. The new base is a bit far."

"Major, you're a welcome sight," replied Scott, with some relief in his voice. "Your squadron must have a good sense for dramatic pacing, too. Unfortunately, I gotta say that my bird is on her last legs. I'm losing fuel and hydraulic pressure, and my engine power is dropping. I'm either gonna need a local field to make an emergency landing, or a safe area to bail out. I hate to say it, but my Corsairs' had her last party".

Right, I'm going to try and get a post up later today. Going to see the Winter Soldier with my sister in the mean time ^^

I second Winter - it's a really good movie, hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
TheFake said "You'll be fine Scott."

Scott strong-armed the bucking stick into a steady line between his knees fighting the aircraft's desire to roll over and die. Grimacing under his mask, he felt a pang of thanks as he saw Kate keep pace. "Roger. I'll bring this bird back. Just keep an eye out for me, over"
Like her, thoughts about the attack fought for attention in his head with the thought that he might have to eject. Though thinking about almost anything was better than that. He looked up as the shape of the Draken cruised past, and clicked his Mike in acknowledgement of Elizabeth's words. "Roger. Get the first round in for me at the bar"
Another series of red lights came to life, fire in the protrude electrics. Pulling the extinguisher handle, he felt more power and control drop off. The A-7 was almost a dead stick, but the distance was opening up.
I'll squeeze a quick reply in to the dialogue now, as I'd like to get that off before the update.
Don't worry, it'll get you involved too. I'm working with Winter on getting both of you into the action sooner, so you don't have to sit around twiddling your thumbs. As she suggested earlier, both of your characters can be observing the exercise. At least then you'll both be able to start posting in character. I'll PM you with the info shortly.
