Hmmm... I could see something like that working; one company or another has some misguided idea about "adventure vacations" or something in the Micro-World. A West World (also originally written by Michael Crichton!) Level foul up! Did he get rescued, or is he still lost in the Micro-World? Or are you looking to play this out over the rp?
In the aftermath of the Nanigen Incident, following the disappearances of several people (including the head of Nanigen, Vince Drake, and the designer/inventor of The Tensor, Ben Rourke), it seemed as if all was said and done for "Micro-tech".
Yet, the espionage engine always keeps running; in the literal death-throws of Nanigen, one man escaped with several terabytes worth of data and designs, including that of The Tensor- one Dr. Edward Catel, of the Davros Consortium.
In addition to controlling Micro-Tech, while the Consortium continues to develop the technology further, other companies proceeded to pick apart the remains of Nanigen, even engaging in bidding wars for rights to what tech Davros sees fit to offer! Now, multiple companies have been stumbling their way into the Micro-World, and clashing, for a variety of goals. Some, more altruistic. Most not. And all of it shrouded in secrecy.
One such battle ground is developing in a research station, in the Pacific Northwest, in one of their national parks...
Welcome to my Micro themed RP! the aim here is to survive expeditions/adventures in the natural world (and sometimes the unnatural one), with themes of both wonder, and horror. There's room for drama, to a degree, so long as it doesn't grind scenes to a halt.
I'm allowing players control of 1 character, and up to 3 npcs, provided some caveats: Don't create npc's/situations solely for having the clear advantage over other players; conflict is allowed, but this isn't a versus battle game. Make your npc's easily distinguishable from your pc; different color text is a pretty easy way to accomplish that. Plot Armor? What's that? the Micro-World is savage, brutal, and without mercy. People are going to die, and much like in the novel on which this is based, it doesn't care how much of a main character you are. I'm not saying don't put effort into your characters, just don't get so invested that you can't handle having to make a new one.
Other than those caveats, feel free to message me with character submissions and/or questions!
Name: Player/NPC (put a line through whichever it is not) Corporate/Military/Civilian Field: (if the character is a scientist, identify their field of study/expertise. If not a scientist, but an expert in some capacity, write that down and be clear about your field of work. If just someone doing their job, or a civilian with no expertise whatsoever, feel free to leave this blank.) Background: (Give a brief description of your characters history, focusing on how they came to be involved with the Micr-World, or at least how they got involved with a person/company that is) Personality: Appearance: (face claims are fine, no anime for this one. Descriptions without images are fine too)
Ugh, I'm sorry this is taking longer than anticipated; I'm settling into a new job, and it's sucking up a lot of my time and energy. I've got the next couple of days off, though, so progress shall be made
Bios are stupid; oh, sure, everyone can see them, but I bet nobody reads them.
Rude hand gestures and shpadoinkle, there.
No, I wasn't drunk when I wrote this, but I was very tired.
