Current The Wolfman (starring Lon Chaney Jr.), Silver Bullet, The Howling, and Dog Soldiers are all good werewolf movies, what are you on about?

@wheels depending on the context you can often get away with leaving the title for last. If you insist on a title while writing, a "working title" is a placeholder until you think of something better

Bio

Bios are stupid; oh, sure, everyone can see them, but I bet nobody reads them.

Rude hand gestures and shpadoinkle, there.

No, I wasn't drunk when I wrote this, but I was very tired.

Lucky I woke up and got a look at this. Looks okay so far, don't forget that we're using the Wealth system, so you automatically have a Wealth score of D6, per those rules.
Are we using Sanity rules?

Also, Veteran of the Dark World is basically four advances for the price of one hindrance. It feels very un-SWADE for me, but if it's available, shouldn't it be a default for all characters, to keep them on par?
Ok, it's moot because of the previous post, which I read after posting mine.

I hadn't planned on it, but let me reread those rules and get back to you. Sorry, I somehow missed that question earlier!

Edit/Update: No, we won't be using the Sanity rules.
"Oh, what I wouldn't give for this day to just end..." Rick thought to himself, trying not to breathe through his nose. Sweat beaded on his forehead, and he tried to retrace his ste(p)s, figure out how he got here.

It h(a)d been a day like most others- he did his level-headed best to not draw attention to himself, but, eventually, his tormenters must have gotten bored, because they came looking for him.

Must have ha(d) a plan, too! That, or they actually started paying attention to his escape routes (god knows they've seen as much of this city chasing him as he had running through it). He could think fast, but apparently they learned to surround him rather than just corner him. At least in a corner, with his back to a wall, he ha(d) somewhere to climb.

He kept turn(i)ng corners, hoping to find an ope(n)ing while their eyes weren't on him, but they had extra help this time, and they were closing in...

Before yet another pursuer could jump from around a corner, his quick thinkin(g) was turning to panic, and he seized on one possibility to stay out of sight, and wait for them to give up-

"-And now, I'm in a dumpster..." He muttered to h(i)mself.

He heard breathles(s), angry voices outside, now. He couldn't quite hear what they were saying, but it was definitely them. Sheesh, is there some kind of event, today? Did they chug a few energy drinks (b)eforehand?

As if things couldn't get any worse- his phone loudly pinged with (a) notification.

The voices went quiet as he pulle(d) out his phone, trying to silence it.

"...Haha, hahahaha, well-well-well, looky here, boys! The trash took itself out!" Maybe if he was quiet, they (w)ould leave it at that?

Or, maybe it was just getting sta(r)ted, as he heard what must have been zip ties- "Oh no, don't tell me..." A loud thump- one of them had cl(i)mbed atop the lid.

"Oh, please, not that-" He was still fumbling, but something awful had spilled on his hands, so the message was opened instead of dismissed, and buttons were pressing that he didn't mean (t)o-

"DUMPSTER DEMOLITION DURBY!!!" R(i)ck felt the container begin to move- they were shoving it around on it's wheels, jumping as it rolled over obstacles, crashing into various barriers and walls, all the while tossi(n)g him around like a marble in a spray can!

He did his best to not lose hold of his phone, and since he never read the messa(g)e, he didn't know what was happening when an unnaturally bright light emitted from it.

He lost the sense of motion(,) and everything became the bright white light. Soon, though, he realized the light had faded, and became a bright white room, carved from stone.

He just looke(d) miserable as he turned his head, and saw s(o)me other people were there with him. Aware he still probably looked like he'd bee(n) rolled in a dumpster, he pre-empted any questions, "... Don't ask."

With a heavy sigh, he shakily got to his feet, "I(')ve read enough manga- those jerks accidentally rolled my in front of a truck, or something, righ(t)? So, I must be dead? Or in a coma?"
This just sparked an idea in me:
A young adult coder who keeps healthy (and avoids social contact) by doing lots of excercise, like fitness at home, trekking, swimming, rock climbing, etc. He's, however, good physically and mentally, but seriously lacks in social skills and amount of people in his life.

I haven't assigned any points yet, anyway, so it's easier for me to switch.

I'd green light that, sure!
drive.google.com/file/d/1hY58vq15uz4w…

Here's what I've got so far--I've done enough revisions at this point that I should probably go back and check my math, but it probably won't change too much on that basis.

I do worry--do we have any characters with a physical focus? If not, I can switch to another character concept so we have someone who can deal with physical challenges.

Doing well, so far.

So far we have 2 proposed characters with a non-physical focus, and with my "no monster hunters or power gaming" talk, I can see why anybody might be hesitant. If nobody makes a physical focused character, that's fine, because you'll still have a chance, but if somebody does make a character more physically capable, that's not unreasonable, it just has to make sense (like, don't tell me the local librarian was secretly Rambo this whole time). Just... Remember the roleplaying part of rpg.
@rush99999I have explained as much as I can without giving away the entire story, accept it or don't. I made my ruling, please move on.

Edit: Your concept of the old man can still work, even if not necessarily the way you first proposed. I have some suggestions if you want to consider them?
Ok, quite a bit to address here-@ctrlsaltdel I believe you have it right, regarding the Wealth score. You are also correct, it is modern world, current year. Oh, also, because I'm not allowing the Veteran Of The Shadow World, as consolation I'm still allowing the bonus Edge for being human, since I didn't answer that question from before.

@rush99999OK, so, I'm concerned that I have not effectively communicated the setting, and I'm going to try and clarify.

Modern Horror. In particular, aiming to emulate modern horror stories/films. If you don't know who Burt Gummer is, he's a reoccurring character in the Tremors franchise and basically a Monster Hunter. So when I say "No Burt Gummer", it's because I don't want the sole focus to be "there it is, let's kill it".

Which brings me to my next clarification: It's not that the islanders don't question supernatural happenings, it's that they don't really acknowledge it, at most dismissing things with "plausible explanations". People who somehow claim stranger things aren't taken all that seriously. Figuring out why is meant to be part of this adventure. A player character who already knows what's up and has many adventures under their belt doesn't really mesh with that. I'm down to work with you in pm's if you want to, but so far I'm getting worried you're starting to metagame and build a character to "win".

now time for the next couple things-

The veteran edge. I've looked it up, and the wording suggests (to me) it's meant for a setting different than what I'm going for here. I also dislike it on the grounds that it throws off party balance in any setting for one character to be significantly more advanced than the rest of the party.
The money. I already made the call on that, it's not D&D, or a homebrewed Castlevania. The pc's aren't traveling adventurers/monster hunters, money isn't going to be an issue most of the time, so I'm using the optional alternative to handwave it. So, when I already made the call as the GM/Marshal, and then you post something like that? You're kinda stepping on my toes and I need you to please not do that.
@RickyG85, given that this is a modern horror setting, do we still get the free edge from being human? Or is that bit just a wash?

ETA: Also, how are we handling starting money/gear?

We'll be using the Wealth system; you each start with Wealth D6, mechanics for that are in SWADE page 145/146. Use your Wealth to obtain starting equipment/gear, just remember you're already extraordinary for being player characters; "not Burt Gummer".

I'll be taking Veteran of the Dark World as an Edge. Since I rolled a 1 for that, I'll be taking an extra Major Hinderance.

Let me get back to you on that, I'm at work and can't look that up atm. If it's anything like Veteran of The Weird West, I would discourage that without a really good reason, but let me look into it before you commit it to paper, please
Got my third request, I assume that was one of y'all?
