Current I mean, some people want to do it for the reason it’s supposed to be for, but it being all but outright mandatory, well.

@Ricky: I never thought about it like that, but it really can be, huh? I checked out the Mormons for a stint, and I can 100% see that being a reason behind them pushing that.

Tricks them into thinking it was their choice, when it was structured for them to fail.

The Amish doing that strikes me as a psychological way to keep people there. Isolate them > send them out > get culture shock > return to the comfortable rather than figure out a foreign culture.

Ashifa: Shoving/forcing the religion on someone isn't what Christianity should be about. I'm sorry if/that that's what's going on for you.

Zaylin followed Amy’s lead as she grabbed her own food, the voices in the cafeteria growing louder as more students filtered in. Zaylin scowled as the echoes irritated her fairly sensitive hearing. Taking a deep breath, she did her best to shake the remaining cobwebs of sleep from her mind and tune the noise out, as she had long since taught herself to do. Zaylin stopped beside Amy, a little surprised at the girl’s offer to sit with them. “Yeah, sure.” “I spend entirely too much time talking about homework.” Zaylin chuckled. “I think I can deal with that. It’ll be a nice change.” She glanced around the cafeteria. “Does there work for you?” She nodded to an empty table near an outside window.
I'll just add that to the list, then. Ha.

Best reason ever. XD
“Zaylin. Devonshire,” Zaylin responded as Amy paused. She scowled as Amy mentioned the girl who had made fun of her in the library the other day. She wiped the look away as Amy blushed, the trio slowly making their way forward in the line. “Nah, don’t worry about it. I’m used to it.” She adjusted the strap on her shoulder. She glanced over as she noticed the girl she had met the night before, and gave a two-fingered wave. “Glad to see you made it back to campus safely.”

Prologue Post
Arcane words echoed softly through the cold, empty space between worlds, penetrating the semi-unconsciousness of the monster locked within. The whispers reverberated around its skull, pecking at its mostly dormant brain, urging it to awaken. The chant grew louder as the spell's caster continued, shattering the once complete silence of the darkness. From within the depths of the eternal night, something rustled as feeling began to flow back into the prisoner’s body. Slowly, something began to take form in the depths. Blacker than the space around it, a form hunched up. It straightened, its outline almost human. Lifting its face upward, it let out a roar of pain that soon shifted into menacingly triumphant laughter. Taking in a deep breath as if it had not done so since the beginning of time, it released it as it lowered its head so its chin nearly rested on its chest. As the chanting neared its finish, the figure opened its glowing red eyes, and a malicious smile spread over its face, displaying its mouth-full of pointed teeth. “Freedom,” it whispered, its gravelly voice masculine. Raising its arms to the side, the figure shot upward as a thin crack of light formed above him, the sound shaking the very core of the worlds as his form lifted toward freedom--toward the world he once called his.
Before the child responded, she looked over as another wolves readied to attack. Before she could so much as summon a spark, a barrage of daggers rendered the beast dead. She glanced back to Scarlet, impressed at the woman’s throwing skills. She inhaled slightly as she noticed the woman’s change in eye color. So she’s not human, either, then. Faira looked back to the child as Ann clung onto her once more. “That was soooo scary!” “Yeah, you’re telling me,” she muttered, running a hand through her hair. With the threat of the wolf pack--and Marianne, at least for the time being--gone, she bent to her knees and sat on her feet, both to be more eye-level with the child and to insure her legs really did not give out on her. “You’re name’s Ann, right?” She glanced to Scarlet as the woman asked her own question.
Still groggy, Zaylin strode toward the line to wait her turn to get breakfast. As she took her place, another girl bumped into her, making her lose her grip on the bag slung over her shoulder, one of the folders inside sliding out from the top. She blinked at the girl she recognized from the library as she apologized and picked her bag up for her. “Oh, thanks.” Zaylin offered a small smile as she picked up the folder. “Don’t worry about it.” She took her bag from Amy and shoved the folder back inside as the other girl continued speaking. Zaylin shook her head. “You’re probably thinking of someone else. I just transferred this year. I’ve seen you in the library a few times, though.”
@Kirah Absolutely! @gogojakeo Okay, I recognize The Wild Thornberries (I used to always watch that!), but have to ask: what's the other one?
Zaylin grumbled in her sleep as consciousness returned to her slowly. With a moan, she rolled over, only to shout as she fell from her bed, her head narrowly missing the nightstand and the blankets pulling off with her Sitting up, Zaylin blinked at her room as she tried to regain her bearings. A moment later, the annoying beeping of her alarm clock sounded. She groaned and tried to lay back down on the floor. “Ow!” she muttered as her head hit the nightstand, a couple books falling to her chest at the vibration. Grumbling under her breath, she reached up and groped around in search of the alarm clock, another book falling in the process. Groggily untangling herself from the blanket, she tossed it back on the bed and reluctantly got dressed in the school uniform. After securing her watch to her wrist, she grabbed her messenger bag and left, wishing she had a cup of coffee in hand as she sluggishly started the walk to the cafeteria for breakfast.
