I made a second character too

Reiko Kimura as XII - The Hanged Man

The circle was clearly affecting her. The Eye of Enlightenment burnt out upon contact with the circle and her aura was waning heavily. However, her smile didn't waver as if she already knew something like this would happen.

"It has truly been a pleasure," She said, giving a small curtsy. "But I must take my leave, I cannot let her wake now."

All of the windows around them began to crack at once. She was being drained of power but she still had enough for this. They all shattered, the shards moving aside and making way for her as she stepped backwards and pulled herself onto the sill.

"Ah yes, one final message for you, messenger." She said. "What is a God to a non-believer?"

With that, she lent backwards and let herself fall.
"I can't believe I'm looking forward to class for once." Kosuke said, straightening his tie.

The previous few days had been eventful to say the least. The Black King, Dunk Master, the giant dissolution... so much crazy stuff happened in two days, and nothing else had even come close within his last three years of Deep Ground Online. But it wasn't so much he was looking forward to the downtime from Deep Ground, rather he was looking forward to taking a rest and coming back to Deep Ground again.

He had English first and he would be rather go to hell before visibly showing effort in English.

Anyway, all these events felt like they were leading up to something big, and whatever it was going to be, he wanted to be in the middle of it no matter what. Suddenly, his mail popped up with a new notification.

"An e-mail from the student council president?" He said.

It said there was a student assembly up first. Then he got a second e-mail, this time from his mother?

(Grand)mother wants to know how you've been doing :^)
Mother

Since the advent of neural uplinks had been in her time, she still typed like she was younger. Well, she wasn't exactly getting old or anything but still. They had a sort of game where she'd check in occasionally and Kosuke had to write one sentence that was interesting. It was sort of a challenge because nothing usually happened, but there was plenty going so he didn't have to think very hard. He thought of a good sentence to summarize everything and wrote it out.

I'm being pulled into trouble by the women in my life.
Kosuke

He hit send. Then he realized he'd made a tactical error.

Reiko Kimura as: XII - The Hanged Man

A small smile began to come to her lips, but her eyes were still closed.

"If that is how it must be, then that is how it will be." She said. She drew her arm forward and the cards floating beside her started to float towards the other girl...

"But, do you truly have authority?" She said, stopping the cards. She sounded more lucid right now, but she still didn't open her eyes.

"You call us cursed, but we cannot count anything more than blessings upon us." She said, "You call us sinners but do you truly have the right to judge?"

She put her arm back by her side, but the cards remained floating in the air.

"If you speak on behalf of fate, they would make their way into your hands regardless of what you do. If you speak on behalf of God, should you not have enough power to defy me?" She took one step back, and used her Eye of Enlightenment again. The blazing eye appeared and a wide circle of grey energy appeared around them.

"What will it be?" She said.

Reiko Kimura as: XII - The Hanged Man

After Reika had gone out of the courtyard, the desk Reiko had dropped finished its descent. It landed hard on concrete but somehow it still survived. Thinking it had caught a lucky break, it started to scuttle away but before it had made it that far, from the other side of the courtyard Reiko appeared.

"You are not finished yet, Suspension!" She called out.

The table quivered in fear in anticipation of what was to come, but Reiko suddenly walked back the way she came. The table still floated there but retribution did not come. A few moments later however, a rusty knife floated out of a nearby window similarly to how the table had been sent to his doom and it was placed just above the table.

An unruly basketball with TEETH followed, as well three medicine bottle spitting pills at extremely high velocity. They waited for a few minutes wondering what would happen to them, but nothing came. And then Reiko returned, hefting a large slab of concrete which looked like it had been ripped out of the wall.

Well, they had had a good run, but it looked like it was good night.

"You who were meant to wander,
finally know peace.
There is nothing more to for you to be;
Those that bear fate decree."

The cards lost their power and dropped to the ground. She picked them up one by one. There was a 3 of swords, 3 of coins, 1 of swords and a 3 of wands. The floated into place beside her, joining another three cards which she had been forced to deal with on their own.

There had been many of these minor arcana infesting the school, but they couldn't escape the Eye of Enlightenment.

Above her head, a grey eyeball appeared, pupil flitting from place to place as if searching desperately. It focused upward towards the roof and burst into grey flames. That place would be Reiko's next destination.

"Where is everyone?" Reiko said.

It was eerily quiet in the school, and even though most people had left already there was always people who stayed behind. She didn't even see any teachers or anything. She walked past empty room after empty room with not a soul in sight. She leaned back against a wall, and slid down it until she was sitting on the floor. She needed some time to collect her thoughts.

What do I do now? She thought, Can I just keep going on like this?

She had to admit though, this kind of situation was like something straight out of anime.

"I guess that means I'm a main character..." She said.

That was probably accurate. She had been given the Hanged Man card, maybe other girls had been given cards too and were going through the same thing she was right now. Reiko reached for her card. The woman had said it stood for reversal and enlightenment, and Reiko could see that. But she still felt like there could be more in it...

Unbeknownst to her, a new threat was approaching from around the corner! A devious spare student desk had been given life and was stalking prey! Once it had been a proud and used student desk which saw some of the most not exactly hard-working or lazy and not exactly good or bad academically students of all time, but had one day been vandalized! Someone had drawn a crude depiction of it will shall not be named, and forever after only the not exactly bad but still not really good students were designated to sit at it!

One day it was cleaned and the desk thought it would finally relive its glory days as the holder of the medium! But it was replaced by another desk and left under the stairs, with all of the other desks who could not withstand the passage of time, and it was left to gather dust!

But that was their mistake! That desk has had years to think up awesome killing moves, most of which impossible for a mere desk, but over time its ideas refined into one new killing move which would be the pinnacle of the 'Fist of the Abandoned Student Desk' martial arts style! With it they would feel the weight of years of neglect! The weight of isolation and loneliness! The weight of a student desk flipping itself at you, which is basically all that it is! But still, at least the attack has a passable name!

'Forgotten Student Desk Vengeance Culmination!'

It seemed to say, but it didn't actually make any sounds. However, something else was happening. The air around Reiko had changed, it had become more dull, sort of grayer. Slowly she rose up into the air, her eyes slowly closing. The greay aura condensed into something heavier until you could no longer see her. Then its surface started to swirl, faster and faster. When it seemed to reach its peak, a whisper rang out through the empty school halls.

"And so goes the whim of XII - The Hanged Man."

The sphere burst, the dark grey energy easily tossing aside the hapless spare student desk. Before it could recover its wits however, another voice rang out.

"Let all those who see, bear witness to the will of the Hanged Man." It said, "Suspension!"

A ring of the dark gray energy encircled the desk and it lifted up into the air. Unlike the first voice, this voice was somewhat drowsy, as if the person was speaking through another layer of consciousness. Where Reiko once stood, someone else awoke. Dark grey hair to match the color of her magic, an aura that waxed and waned as if it didn't know whether to be strong or subtle, and eyes closed as if she were peacefully asleep.

She raised her hand and the wayward desk moved through the air at a temperate pace. The desk trembled as if it were afraid. It moved towards the window of an empty classroom, glass breaking before the desk even reached it. It moved further still with Reiko following it in similar fashion. On the other side the desk moved towards the windows overlooking the courtyard. As if it knew what was coming, it struggled harder than before, but there was no escape. Again, myriad racks formed on the glass before the desk came close, the pane shattering as the table came through.

When it had reached a distance where it would be impossible to come back into the classroom, the spell was finally released and the table plummeted. Without a second glance, the person Reiko had become walked away with bare feet on the cold floor.

Reiko stifled a yawn as she entered the library at last. She was getting a bit sleepy, she didn't want to spend too much time in here before heading home. She walked past rows of bookshelves, trying to find a good desk to sit at before starting on her homework. But then she turned back.

Sitting at a table she had just passed was an odd looking woman with a deck of cards...

"I see that you seem to be lost, young one. Would you care to draw a card and reveal what fortune smiles upon thee?" She said.

A strange feeling washed over her but she couldn't describe it. She wanted to step forward but the feeling held her back. Then she noticed that the sky had turned blood red. There weren't many windows in the library so she hadn't noticed immediately. An ominous feeling started growing inside of her.

"What happened...?" She asked aloud.

"Nothing yet." The woman said. Reiko's attention flicked back towards her, but she jumped back in surprise. Somehow she had moved right in front of her while she was looking out the window. "But something will happen soon. Would you care to draw a card?"

Reiko was puzzled, but regardless she felt like the woman was saying things she needed to hear. Almost instinctively she reached out to draw a card, but she realized the deck had dissappeared.

"Well? Are you going to draw a card?" The woman said again.

No, she couldn't possibly know... Still, Reiko's hand reached into her pocket and drew it out.

"Ah yes, the Hanged Man. Place it before me." The woman instructed.

Reiko did as she was told and put the card on the table. The woman looked into the card, the same way as Reiko did, as if searching for a meaning inside of it.

"You are aware of all the Hanged Man stands for, correct?" The woman said.

"Self-sacrifice, martyrdom, and reversal." Reiko replied, almost reflexively.

"Very good. But I am sure you are not aware, that the Hanged Man is the only card that can bring a reversal that is neither inherently advantageous, nor inherently harmful." The woman said. "This is because the Hanged Man does not discriminate, the Hanged Man affects enemies and allies alike. It is only through the enlightenment of the self that 'good' and 'evil' can be defined."

Reiko nodded. She felt as if she understood, even though she had no idea what she was really talking about.

"You should find the others who share your fate. You are powerful alone, but your true strength lies with others." The woman said.

She nodded to Reiko, and gave back the card. Reiko dutifully got up and walked out of the library. The strange feeling then suddenly faded, and Reiko stumbled forward a little.

"Huh? What was that...?" She said. She felt slightly light-headed and stopped to catch her breath for a second. She leant against the wall to support herself. "Why am I... tired..?"

Something like this had never happened before. Even with all the weirdness around her Hanged Man card she thought that it wouldn't get any weirder.

"I should... go find someone." She said, shakily getting onto her feet.

The first place she had in mind was the student council. The school was pretty empty because school had already ended, but she was sure there would still be people in the student council. They tended to be the last to leave, hopefully she could get some answers or at least some support.
