The pale skinned girl seemed to be preoccupied by something, walking towards a bookshelf. The young noble debated between asking his question more loudly in an attempt to get her attention or leaving the girl to her studies. Another conclusion was reached for him as the girl seemed to literally bounce off of him, landing on the floor in a tangle of legs.
Too surprised to be able to offer a hand for the unfortunate maiden before she regained her feet, Swen chastised himself for failing a basic task of chivalry.

Luckily, the girl was forgiving of this social failure and proceeded not only to apologize, but additionally to answer his question. A forgiving woman would be ideal to court around, willing to forgive his naïve mistakes and push him in the right direction.

Not only that, but his original assumptions about her being an academic proved true.
This was perfect. His House had done a good job describing the sort of woman he should seek out. So far, this girl had done 2 of the 17 accomplishments necessary for a woman that would marry a man of his stature.

A few awkward seconds passed as he tried to form the words. Social cues demanded he address the subject matter, proving and interest in her intellect. Chivalric cues demanded that he be straightforward and not hide his intentions.

Why choose when you can do both. The nobleman took a knee before the lady, mentally preparing himself to make his request.
"I share an interest in that field, and am wondering if we could study it together after I take you to the introductory ball in a few days time!"
Although he initially stumbled, his voice sounded far more confident than what he really felt.
