Location: Poorly hidden on the outer side of the cobblestone wall, by the entrance, and easily spotted if someone were to look

Tova clutched the mysterious letter to her chest, the paper scrunched from the force of her grip.

What the…!? What!?

She sat with her back against the low cobblestone wall, just barely hidden by some bushes and curled into a tight ball, staring ahead with wide eyes from what she’d just seen.

What the actual ever living fuck!?

Gathered in front of the manor - the promised safe manor! - was not only a few human-looking people, but an actual skeleton followed by a giant freaking lizard had just walked right past her hiding place. She could hear her own heart beating rapidly in her chest, and she still had her hand covering her mouth from when she’d had to stop herself from screaming at the sight of the giant lizard. Oh, and had she mentioned the living skeleton!?

What in the ever green meadows was this place? The letter had promised a sanctuary, not a house filled with predators!

Or well, what she assumed to be predators. For all she knew this was all normal and the world was filled with such creatures, and she just didn’t know because of her sheltered upbringing. Gathering her courage, she turned and peeked over the wall. She would wait and see what happened, but if anything seemed even the slightest bit fishy she would be out of there as fast as her hooves could carry her. No sanctuary was worth becoming lizard dinner, thank you very much.

Name: Tova
Age: 22
Species: Faun
Appearance: Standing around 5.1ft, Tova is everything one could expect from a faun. A goat’s legs and hoofs and tail, goat ears, horns, a flat nose, oval pupils; the whole package. Her fur is a light beige that turns brown towards her hoofs, which corresponds with a matching beige/brown ombre colour in her hair. Her hair is short and curly. She also has fur along her spine and along her underarms and elbows. She had several piercings in each ear.

Abilities: Like most fauns, she had a knack for music and her instrument of choice is a pan flute. The humans say a faun’s music can ensnare the mind and make one into a thrall. If there’s a faun who can actually do that, Tova had never heard of them. What fauns can do, however, is slightly influence the mood of those around her with her music - though the recipients have to be consenting for it to not be easily ignored. She can’t make anyone feel or do anything against their will. She can cause pain if she has to defend herself by playing a high-pitched tune infused with magic to cause headaches of varying degrees.

She also has very good balance and agility.

Personality/Info: Tova is a tough soul put in an easily frightened body. She is always fighting her prey instincts, which tell her to run and hide at the slightest threat, while her actual self is loud, outgoing, and confident. This conflict of mind and body has more than once led to her cussing someone out for frightening her, while still hiding behind a tree.

Items: A light tunic for warmer weather, and a coat and scarf if it gets colder. A backpack to keep said clothes and travel rations and equipment. Her pan flute hangs from a cord around her neck

Backstory: Tova was born in a small faun village in a hidden valley, where she lived the first 20 years of her life in relative peace and happiness. The village kept itself separated from the rest of the world, content to mind its own business away from all the dangers that lurked outside the valley. Tova was told all about them from an early age, and among the worst of them were the monstrous humans. Tova was scared when she was young, but as she grew older she assumed the evil deeds of humans were just something parents told their children to keep them in line. How bad could humans actually be?

Bad, it turned out. Very bad.

Giving in to her curiosity, Tova had decided to investigate a nearby human village to see the monsters for herself. On her way there, she met a human around her own age, who had been surprisingly friendly. They’d talked for a while, and then parted ways. Relieved and feeling a bit vindicated that the humans weren’t such monsters after all, Tova returned to her village to tell of her discovery. Maybe now they would realize they didn’t need to live hidden away, and Tova would get more freedom to explore the world.

That night, the humans attacked her village. They had followed her, and she had led them straight to her family. The village was burned to the ground and the few surviving fauns scattered, Tova among them. Since then, Tova has lived alone in the woods, too ashamed to search for fellow survivors or other faun villages.

She hopes that the Manor could be an escape from her guilt and loneliness.

A p p e a r a n c e Nick stands around 5.6 feet tall and weighs 156lbs. She had dark, straight and fairly thin hair that she keeps cropped short - she cuts it herself, and it’s noticeable that she has no idea what she’s doing - and it’s always hanging in her face unless she has a functioning hair tie to tie it up in an sort of unicorn horn style above her forehead. “Style” being used very loosely, as she had absolutely none of it. She knows she’s average at best, and not even in an intriguing or special sort of way that’s always written about in romance novels. Her skin is pale with dark bags under her brown eyes from lack of sleep. She has a gnarly scar from a bullet wound on her neck. She dresses in practical clothes, but always combined with her staple green hoodie, of which she usually has the hood up, and a sturdy pair of boots and a backpack.

P e r s o n a l i t y Quick summary: Jaded asshole who seriously needs to work on her anger management issues. Nick is angry. She’s angry at her parents and sister for leaving her. She’s angry at the Order. She’s angry at the whole damn world for going to shit. She’s angry at herself. Most days she channels the anger into being productive, but sometimes it just pours over and she feels like she just wants to scream. Sometimes she tries to not let this affect other people, tries to cover it with a joke or a sarcastic comment. Most times she just doesn’t care, and lets it out over whoever’s unlucky enough to get in her way. She doesn’t want to be an asshole, honestly, but sometimes it's just...hard not to. She doesn’t think she was born mean or anything - she can be nice! - but rather it was how the world has made her. If she can only get her sister back, if they can only escape the Order, if, if, if. If things could only work out alright for once, she’ll be okay. Maybe.

B a c k g r o u n d Nick was born in 2024, and lived the first 6 years of her life in relative happiness. Her parents had had Nick young and never had much, but they made do. Then the world went down the sewer and took Nick’s happy childhood right along with it. Her parents, already struggling to stay above the poverty line, joined a gang to stay alive. Drugs and violence became a natural occurrence in Nick’s life. Her parents tried to protect her from the worst of it at first, but their humanity was slowly chipped away. Nick’s only lifeline was her baby sister Andrea, born in 2032. Nick was tasked with raising her when her parents were away, which grew to be basically always. Nick’s parents worked hard and rose in rank, which unfortunately meant that when their gang was busted, they were important enough to be publicly executed. Nick was 11 and her little sister was only 3 when they were forced to watch their parents hang. Friends of her parents took them in after that. They lived hidden with her parents' friends for a while, but it soon became too high of a risk and they were kicked out and forced to fend for themselves. After 2 years of living in the streets, Nick and her sister were caught by the Order and drafted into the military. Nick was 14 and her sister 6. Andrea, showing skills above the ordinary, was selected to be trained in the Specials unit. Nick, desperate to not be separated from her sister, did everything to also be selected and succeeded by a hair’s breadth, only to then be separated anyway once they were in. The emails from Andrea became increasingly fanatic over the following years, and Nick saw less and less of the sister she had known in their correspondence. Did she even remember their parents? Did she care what the Order did to them - was still doing to them? Feeling as if she was losing her sister and growing desperate, Nick tried to find a way to meet her and talk to her directly. After years of planning, she finally thought she’d found a secure way to meet, and possibly flee the Order together. Nick enacted the plan on her sister's 15th birthday, in the year 2047 when she herself was 23. She got as far as being face to face with her sister, but to her horror, her sister refused to flee and even allerted the Order of what Nick had tried to do. Nick was apprehended, shot through the neck, and thrown outside the walls, thought to be dead. Despite having finally developed strength abilities, Nick had no value to the Order as a traitor. Nick had all but given up on life, but as she waited for death to take her, she was picked up by Disorder scouts and miraculously nursed back to health. Since then, she has spent all her energy trying to find a way to get her sister out of the Order, even if she’ll have to drag her out kicking and screaming. Or even better; burn the Order to the ground.

Name: Leontine “Leon” Aurell

Sex: Female

Age: 22

Appearance: Leon stands at 5’6 and weighs 175 pounds. Her body is well toned with defined muscles, her arms displayed in a tank top as often as she can get away with it. Her hair is a darker shade of red, wild, curly, and usually gathered in a messy bun that looks too good to not be deliberate. Freckles covers her face and body, just visible on her dark skin, accompanied by eyes the colour of whiskey.

Personality: Leon is confident - some would describe her as cocky - and outgoing. She’s loves to be the center of attention. She works hard on her body, and is not afraid to show it or her skills off. Very competitive and hates to lose. Despite her abrasive personality, she cares a lot about her friends in her own way. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Background: Leon’s mother was also in the military, and got called in when Leon was very young. She seldom saw her mother, who only visited once or twice a year, but she admired her mother greatly. When Leon was 7, they got a letter informing them that her mother was MIA, and she never saw her again. Leon was raised by a friend of her mother.

Affinity Link: Leon can manipulate and create static electricity. She has to rub some parts of her body together to create it - usually her hands - but once she get a spark going she can use it to create electrical shields or just zap the next person she touches. She mostly uses it to pack more of a punch in hand-to-hand combat.
