Sessamaru watched the exchange with serious eyes, realizing that the monk was indeed drained compared to the half-demon. Though attempting to be honorable, Sess knew quite well that the half-demon had an edge. Even Maosu's voice held some level of reason. Slowly, but surely, Sessamaru rose to his feet and took a simple step forward. In a single stride, he appeared between Udyr and Riku as if by magic; and indeed, it was magic that allowed him to move swiftly between the two. "Enough," Sessamaru spoke aloud, his melodic voice a casual tenor. "There's no need for bloodshed." After a small delay from his "instantaneous movement," a strong gust of wind fell in between the three, trying to fill the vacuum that allowed the swordsman to move so swiftly. His long white hair danced like white flames, his emerald eyes shining brightly. "Perhaps we should think of a way to escape this place?" He asked, hopefully, though he knew deep down that reason would no longer apply to the two warriors.
Atm Kat provides meat for the tavern… actually, sessa, I meant to ask you if that would work. Kat and Hel could stay at the tavern in exchange for bringing back meat for BMT. Would that be ok?
That's also fine ^^ I'm so glad everyone wants to put their own spin on this RP :D
Speaking of which, actually... can she be a part time bartender at the Blue Moon Tavern?
Of course. She can also side as a waitress.
I was worried my character wouldn't work in light of the new backstory. What exactly counts as a remnant?
The remaining creatures from the other two continents that have made a living in the outskirts of Ranaamar. There's a lot of different races and species that can be identified as a Remnant... and sometimes, a certain race of people might be "mistaken" for a Remnant :P Edit: I'm going to work now, folks. I'll be back here tomorrow at the latest (depending if I'm going to be busy or not).
I just realized my character has the most normal job that there can probably be... xD
lol, I don't mind it :P
Everyone who has posted up to this point is accepted! Kudos on making wonderful characters that intrigue me ^^
Belheim, Elrikur; Ranaamar
Belheim, the City of Time and the Capitol of Elrikur. It is a large city with three rings and nine districts, and at its heart resides the greatest monument to ever grace Ranaamar: the clock tower, Tempus-Fane. The central district, where Tempus-Fane resides, is home to many shops and many events, with even a colisseum meant for the annual Carnival of Hope. A melting pot of cultures, just about every race from all around Ranaamar could be found, as well as a few of the Free races of the other continents. However, those freed from the tyrannical rule of the Ancient Empires are regarded with suspicion, fearing that they're a part of the many Remnant factions. 'Tis morning, the citizens of Belheim wandering its cobbled street aimlessly, some working and others shopping. The wind holds a gentle breeze, the scent of musk and floral perfumes filling the streets, and the sun's generous light bathing buildings and citizens. Saphyr, the blue moon that lights the darkness of night, slowly sets as the sun slowly rises, its azure beams no longer existent. Today is the beginning when worlds collide...
The Blue Moon Tavern
The Blue Moon Tavern was alight with candles, the morning sun unable to penetrate the smoky windows. The many patrons sat about, drinking, talking, and staring at the Missions Board. Tobacco smoke filled the entirety of the tavern, from the base floor to the loft on the second floor. In the far back of the base floor was the bar, its walls filled with a variety of bottles alcohol. The proprietor stood unmoving behind the bar, a tall and well build man wearing simple attire via apron. He had pale skin and shoulder-length hair of wavy silver, with dark stubble on his middle-aged face and dark brows. His eyes were a sharp amber color and glinted in the dim lighting. Heavily muscled, it could be speculated that he was once a soldier. The barkeep was always silent, never moving, never eating, never sleeping... just silent. He had hired Naida as a part-time bartender, and even she had noticed that the man never truly moved or spoke, never eating a meal nor attempting to sleep. He stood there, watching, only moving to provide a meal or a drink to whomever asked. She had come to learn that his name was Bernard, from the small chances of being able to talk to him. Sitting upon a stool was an ancient wizard, cantankerous and wearing robes covered in multi-colored patches. His conical hat was also heavily patched, its point crooked and lazy. He had fair, wrinkled skin, with a long salt-and-peppered beard, with close cropped hair from what could be seen. His eyes were small and beady, but they were as sharp as they were in his prime. He emitted an air of intelligence and knowledge, and was often called "Rupert, the Grumpy Hermit." There were many other, many colorful folks in the room, the din of conversation too loud for most anyone to hear themselves; and yet, there was a magic about it. Those who spoke to a particular other were able to hear as though the cacophony was merely a whisper, and thus conversations truly could be heard by those engaging. Off to the left of the bar was a grand fireplace with a red leather chair and a nightstand, possessing an empty glass, a bottle of the most expensive brandy, and a black book. No one knew who sat there, but it was quite obvious that no one should go near there. The atmosphere of the tavern was light and joyous, full of adventure, mystery, and perhaps more. Those who lived there and those new who entered would find themselves feeling something different about this day, though they would not know how... it was as though their destinies were intertwining with some unknown event. Were they prepared for whatever the day provided?

[Sessamaru] Sessamaru meditated in an empty space upon the base floor. He levitated from the ground and radiated with an unseen energy, his sword across his lap. He was cross-legged, his hands over one another in a cupping formation, and a serene expression upon his face. The birds and animals that were brought in as pets (or perhaps some that managed to sneak inside) wandered towards him, the birds perching themselves upon his shoulders, head, knees, legs, and elbows. The mice that managed to leap onto him nestled themselves against his torso, some managing to sneak inside of his changshan. Dogs, cats, wolves, and jungle cats lay themselves around his floating form in a circle, comfortable by the energy his body produced. This was his morning regiment, a part of his training: meditation. He focused on his own magical energies and reeled them in, concentrating them upon his person and holding the same position and the raw energy he possessed until he was at the pinnacle of inner peace. He calculated battle strategies and scenarios through his mind, to keep himself as sharp as his blade, to never lose his cool when there was a loss and to never fear death. It was the way he was taught at the monastery by his father figure, the Elder Dragon. He took his pain and focused it, as well, learning from it. The isolation he felt was cold, but since arriving onto the mainland of Ranaamar, he found the world in need of his help. His loneliness had taught him compassion, and Sess had seen it as his greatest strength. Friendships were made and most of his enemies had turned a new leaf. Others sought vengeance and failed as Sess had out-foxed them. His refuge, however, was this tavern. Friends and allies housed him, and he even learned far more in the tavern than from the Sky Islands of Zephyr. Thus, this was his peace.
Sessamaru's Original Character
Name: Sessamaru (pronounced: SES-Uh-MAAR-OO; also known as "Sess") Race: Dearmadta/Spirit hybrid Gender: Male Age: 23 Occupation: Wandering Swordmage Personality/Interests Sessamaru is a kind and compassionate youth, revering all forms of life with a sense of joy. Comfortable as a wanderer, he does not let his own personal baggage weigh down his steps and he never looks back on the pain brought upon him. The swordsman tends to be polite and well-mannered, despite being an easily distracted goof. Sess, by his very nature, prefers his own personal freedom and despises oppression, whether it's directed at him or at someone else. Easy-going and lax, it is difficult to anger the young man and even more difficult to coax into a fight. He is quite clever and intelligent, which he uses to his advantage in order to avoid harming or killing those who happen to force him into a fight. He hates the idea of killing others, though he is quick to protect anyone in need of help. Sess is notorious for his modesty and lacks pride, though he has a realistic view of his own power when up against an opponent who either underestimates or overestimates his abilities. He is unwilling to take credit for anything that he has done or in things others believed that he has done, and is quick to give credit to someone else, especially if it gets him out of an unwanted bind. However, in serious matters, he will not allow anyone to be judged or punished for crimes that they have committed, never once speaking out about it, giving his opponents a chance to atone for their sins. Sympathetic, the half-breed is ruled by his own emotions, whether for a goofy act or for serious matters. He refrains from acting on his anger, keeping a cool-head in the heat of battle. Regardless of all his upcomings, his greatest downfall is his appetite and curiosity. He tends to eat multiple meals in a single sitting, as though his stomach was a black hole. In truth, he eats, not only out of pleasure and the scarceness of food in his travels, but because of the amount of energy he tends to expend during his "meditations" and "training" in the wee hours of the morning and the coming of twilight. His curiosity, too, tends to get him into trouble, often entering disputes and forced to resolve them, and then some. He tends to be an amateur philosopher as well. Though he's like a soaring bird, he lives by his own code. A highly moral person, Sessamaru possesses a sort of honor that differentiates right from wrong. He is unwilling to partake in a two-on-one battle, unless it is only him against two other people. He refuses to let anyone be harmed on his behalf and prefers to protect others, even if it isn't his affair. Though he dislikes people getting hurt, he is willing to hold himself back as an ally or friend is willing to fight a losing battle out of respect for their pride; though once his ally falls in battle, he will intervene before a deathblow can be dealt. Appearance Though of average height and weight, Sessamaru is plenty agile. Slender, yet toned, and a natural acrobat, he appears as a traditional swordsman. His hair, long and milky white, is held in a high horsetail with the front free flowing, the bangs brushing his high cheekbones whilst the sides grace his collarbone. He possesses fox ears, the same color as his thick mane, which are sensitive to sound and twitch quite often. His eyes are almond-shape and pupil-less, with only glowing green irises. Like the rest of his race, he is clean shaven by nature, incapable of growing facial hair and body hair. He has smooth, alabaster skin, giving him a marble-like appearance. In the end, he appears prominently as what one could equate to an "angel" with a bestial deformity (his ears). Details Body build: Slender/Athletic Hair: Long Hair color: White Skin color: Alabaster Eye/Iris color: Green, pupil-less Height/Weight: 5'7"; 135lbs Notable Features: He possesses fox ears instead of the typical ears of most humanoids. Clothing Description Sessamaru wears an amalgamation of traditional clothing from Japan and China, giving him the appearance of an expert martial artist. Arms/hands: Yellow Kote Torso: Green Changshan Waist: Yellow Obi (a sash/belt used for kimonos) Legs: Yellow Changshan pants Feet: White Tabi (socks), waraji Equipment Weapon(s) Katana Powers Basic Illusions Capable of using harmless visual illusions, Sess can employ this tactic to trick his foes into thinking he has a larger repertoire of magic and abilities. He can use this to summon a ball of flame that does not burn which produces a realistic light, for example. However, the illusions he conjures are incapable of any tactile or psychological influence (which greatly differs from a fox spirit's ability to produce illusions). Enhanced Speed and Reflexes A trait he inherited from both parents, he is naturally swift as a Dearmadta from the Halcyon Tribe, as well as the offspring of a kitsune. He is faster than even the most practiced martial artist. With the aid of Aeromancy, his speed is well above superhuman and is his greatest strength (coincidentally, he is not physically stronger than a physically peaked human). Abilities Longevity Sess's Dearmadta ancestry allows him a long life and eternal youth. Old age to a Dearmadta is similar to humans, in which the body starts to shut down after long use (age). However, Dearmadta never age physically and are prone to disease and poison much like any normal mortal. However, mortals who are familiar with the Dearmadta assume they are god-like simply because of their vast lifespans and their inability to show wrinkles. Heightened Senses Sessamaru's Kitsune ancestry gives him enhanced senses, such as sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. His instincts are also heightened, allowing him to be much more aware of his surroundings. Though strengths, they are also a weakness. High pitched whines harm him and his sense of touch makes him far more vulnerable to pain. He can hear full conversations from a fair distance and can even select a particular conversation from a room full of crowded people. He can easily differentiate people simply by smell and can tell the difference between fabrics and subtle changes in weight. His sense of taste is heightened to degrees where he can enjoy foods more and even tell the chef if he used too much salt. Resiliency (Will Power) Unlike most martial artists who are resilient due to constant training, Sessamaru derives his resilience through sheer will power. Due to his strong character, he refuses to give up even if he is in immense pain. His bones can be easily broken like a normal humans, but his will power alone keeps him from giving into pain. Despite his stubbornness, too much physical damage can surpass his pain tolerance and force him into submission via unconsciousness. Metamorphosis [Locked] Talents Swordsman Tactician Acrobat Magic Aeromancy Wind/Air Magic, Aeromancy is a multifaceted school of magic capable of both offensive and defensive strategies. Aeromancy allows the user to manipulate wind and air currents, as well as being able to increase their own speed by decreasing air resistance and capable of flight. Wind can be focused into a concentrated blade and can pierce steel as though it were paper, and perhaps through harder substances depending on the amount of energy and concentration used. Cyclones and whirlwinds can be conjured to deflect thrown objects or energy. Ultimately, lightning can be generated and focused, though only to a single spot, by simply causing enough friction with the air currents. However, Aeromancers are unable to manipulate the lightning due to the intricacy of electromancy (meaning it's a whole different school of magic). The use for Aeromancy is versatile, though the elements are quite fickle; especially when used to summon the fickle elementals. Chloromancy Plant Magic, Chloromancy is a school of magic that uses plants as a means of misdirection, despite being used for both offensive and defensive strategies. Due to Sessamaru's unique nature as a half-spirit, he can tap into this magic far easier than the most practiced sorcerer, able to use his own magical energies to conjure otherworldly plants, becoming a metaphorical "seed" to spawn plants that do not exist in this plane of existence. He's able to create realistic clones of himself out of rose petals (for example), as well as use a flower of any sort to conjure a spirit-made weapon for a short amount of time. Bindings and Seals Sessamaru knows the fundamentals of magic and how it works, the intricacy involved and how to crack it. No matter the school of magic, the principles of binding and seals follow the basic rules of magic, no matter how complex. The key is to find the "key" component of the seal/binding. Sess is able to dispel barriers by finding the overall formula that "binds" the spell together. However, he himself is not skilled in creating powerful barriers, bindings, and seals, and is thus only able to make "adequate" suppression spells to hold off an untrained opponent/ally (untrained meaning "someone with little to no experience in magic"). Vallyn glanced at Belaziri in mild recognition, only to look back at Hotarubi. "Our art and purpose is not meant to glorify ourselves," he continued, his mocking demeanor gone. "We stick to the shadows, take what we can carry, and leave without being noticed. We're shadows, not a band of hooligans. No bloodshed, no ridiculous show... we're meant to be a fairy tale told to children, and the hope for the hopeless and destitute. Your methods are going to get us killed, Hotarubi." Vallyn went on, his tone patronizing. He turned to Nadia, finally deciding to acknowledge her existence. He merely shrugged, backstepping a couple feet to lean against the wall of their guild.
