Ghosting will only result in a loss of what the PM was meant to be: A place to trust that messages may be sent to other members without fear of anyone else seeing them.
This. If a person starts a PM conversation with me that they're sharing with someone else without me even knowing it, then chances are something rotten is going on. There is always the option of said someone just pasting the text or screenshotting otherwise, but why support questionable behavior by in-built site features?

@Veridis Quo:
You don't need to have the entire thing before I can do something with it? You can add multiple people to a PM conversation; I'll just be a silent presence and archive things when there is something for me to archive. Compiling and sending the thing to me afterwards would only be more work for you, and possibly for me, too. (I have mostly automatized my side - the posts being not in their original form would mean that I'd have to manually clean them up as I used to before I made a script to do it for me.)
Besides, the archiving is also intended as a measure against the site frying or being down - which is a role that can only be fulfilled when I can at least save the HTML of the page on my own devices (I don't always put the posts up into the Compendium right away).

@Dark Jack (I wonder whether it still pings when you edit a mention in afterwards? Let's test it.):
Mainly just record-keeping, as usual (who posts next on the Zerul side being perhaps the most important question, since otherwise it may happen that all people expect others to post first, due to lack of clear next poster), so no worries. Perhaps slightly bored for no good reason - I actually have plenty of things I should be doing, and I'm trying to see whether I can get a random pseudo-nightmare-inspired idea of mine through in another RP.

I barely ever drink myself - mostly only during Christmas, New Year's and some birthdays, and then it is only a glass or two (said glass, half-full, may or may not be used to justify not needing another drink for several hours).
(Drinking won't actually help against a cold or most other illnesses at all, the general placebo effect left aside - not in quantities that won't have you die of alcohol poisoning long before with bacterial diseases, and viruses are impervious anyway. There is very little you can you can do with a cold, actually - it is furthermore mostly just your immune system freaking out over something largely harmless ... just be annoyed at it and tough it out.)
There are a few alcoholic drinks which I kind of like the taste of, but those are not the most common types, so I don't really have the incentive to drink anything. Certainly not for getting drunk - I haven't ever been properly drunk, but it appears that alcohol (even in not at all large quantities) seems to work absolutely backwards on me compared to how it is "supposed" to work. I simply stop caring about interacting with people altogether, or being motivated for doing anything else, for the matter. I don't even get tired or sleepy - I'll be just as awake and alert as ever - I'll just retreat to my own corner and stop minding everything else until someone specifically opts to annoy me, and even then I'll most likely be fairly laconic (and possibly give off the impression that I'm only replying out of politeness, and actually want the person gone).

Ehh... But get well soon; is all I can say about it (well-wishes got to amount to sometning, no?).
@Veridis QuoUhh... Mind creating the convo again with me in it, too? I am presently the person who does the archiving for the Prophecy, which is a bit compromised when I can't see what is going on.

(Would probably also think on where your character would meet ours once the time comes - which probably means restricting any potential quests to Zerul City -, but that's more for Jack and you to figure out, unless I bring one of my planned things briefly up as a teaser of sorts (which I'd have to negotiate with him in turn).)

Who is next on the Zerul side? Yoshua, Rhaevnn (should Morgan begin to wake up), Mercinus?
Else it is @Ashgan with Jillian (it has been over three weeks, and according to my own arbitrary rules, I am allowed to start poking people once it's been over two weeks), ASTA with Claw in one collab and Jack in the other (I sort of could post for the lack of much else to write, but that might both leave Jaelnec a bit behind and be a bit repetitive in terms of theme).

@Ink Blood: Any progress on your character? Would he still be sticking with Jillian/Gerald?

Eh... Some GMs tamper with their OCs all the time; I'd still say it'd be more of a white noise than actually helpful, never mind cluttery.

Is it at all possible to have that be triggered when someone's firs post has been edited recently too? Because hey, new information is fresh even if the thread isn't.
Would be a bit too confusing, I think, and to a significant extent negate the usefulness of the tag? (As in, you wouldn't be able to tell that it is a new thread by a glance anymore.) Generally, the fewer blingy things, the better.

(Is the border intentionally still brighter?)
Hmm... Are the regained memories strictly limited to those which were originally listed, or could an event or another bring back something from the character's life outside the original memories? (Obviously a person's entire life wouldn't be encompassed in just a dozen still images...)

I also thought a bit further of her - I started typing out the memories, so now my hypothetical character is a her - particular brand of memory-management... I'd propose she wouldn't be impervious to becoming empty, but rather that whether the new memories outnumber or at least balance out the lost ones would depend on ... basically the mercy of random number generation more than anything, at least as far as out-of-character mechanics go?
- Not that you could by any means call a person's mind 'intact' once all they can recall are nonsensical nightmarish images ... and said nightmarish images also reform their personality, way of processing the world, and even appearance (not to mention the farther gone she'd be, the harder it would be to get back to something akin to what she originally was). So her remaining a perfectly normal, sane human - which, depending on your personal standards, she might not even fully be anymore by the time I'm finished with the CS, as I intend her to already be a quarter of the way down when the RP begins - after a handful of more deaths ... is a bit too unlikely to be a 'problem' in terms of breaking the game mechanics.
In the end, I just want to see what would happen, be it her finding whatever salvation this purgatory has to offer or ending up becoming a monster of some description (with potentially a bit more variation than 'emptiness' alone would allow for).

So far I've just been lightly wrapping HTML's elements (like lists) thus inheriting their behavior. I'm super reluctant to introduce exceptional behavior without strong consideration for how it will affect everyone else that doesn't want newline-insertion.
Double newlines where I don't want them (eg. between paragraphs) are my mortal enemy, you people should know that by now. :-P
It is a bit inconvenient that I had to resort to silliness to make the first paragraph beginning in a hider match the following paragraphs, though.
In Mahz's Dev Journal 11 yrs ago Forum: News
Do hiders eat all leading (and potentially trailing) whitespace? Somewhat inconvenient, given that I actually want said whitespace there.
Hmm... As I mentioned, this concept of mine is rather dependent on memories also changing and being added and replaced rather than being only removed - meaning that rather than 'remove one or several with each death', the result of death would be closer to 'remove one memory, alter two more existing ones, add three new ones since the last awakening which may be either real, partly real, stolen, or utter bogus'. Also, everything not listed will be gone, should they die. Each awakening would be a "fresh" start, so to speak.
The physical changes would be fairly gradual (an inch of height, mild alteration of facial features, scars disappearing and appearing, more or less musculature, eye or hair color - while they might become something else entirely after a hundred or thousand cycles, they definitely won't after a mere couple of deaths), and somewhat reflect the changes to memories (and self).
They started out as normal human, but might not be entirely so anymore - after some (or some dozens of) cycles, anyway. Essentially, once they will have no recollection of being human or amongst them, either in life or this undeath, they would probably become a monster of some description. Not 'empty', but with only new, stolen, and bogus memories. Mad...? Depends what they ended up with and your definition of mad. Hostile? Same deal.
So ... yeah. Perhaps not exactly 'played character as intended' as I expressed originally, but nevertheless one which came to mind when I read the opening post and I - if allowed - would love to try out now that I have the concept built up (it is a rather vocal and persistent concept, too). Should I begin writing the character sheet, or at least the memory sets, to give you a better feel of what I want to do with them?

And certainly good to know that absences, when announced early enough, would not be an issue.
I have an idea.

But, as with many ideas, this one comes with some doubts.

One of them, the more boring and mundane one, is that of simply time - from mid-April to early May, I'll be out of country, and since it is work rather than vacation, I may just come to be that I'll either be only able to cram in a short reply or two, or not be able to reply at all. Would that be something you can work with? (Alternatively, would this RP be open for applications later on?) What do you expect the average turnover for posts to be in general? I personally only dare to promise roughly one post per week to take account of all possible times of excess preoccupation. At worst, I will still post once in two weeks.

The other doubts are more related to the RP itself, and the world it takes place within. I have a very distinct type of character in mind, as well as a potential progression through subsequent awakenings, should any come to occur in the story (naturally depends on whether said character of mine gets themselves killed or not ... I'm actually rather inclined to start out with my character's second or third awakening, not the first - but I fear it might go too far from the intended purpose of the RP, so I'm not sure whether I could actually do it).
Without revealing too much, I'd focus less on hopelessness and fear (not all people are the same, and thus won't react even remotely the same, either) and more on transformation, for the lack of a better term. Progression. Would that eventually lead to a monster like those described wandering the planes - who might not be as mindless as implied - or something else entirely, not even I know yet. It all depends on the IC and what said character is subjected to.
Now, some integral questions. Is it possible for the physical form to change from one awakening to the next? Same - is it possible to the personality to alter in ways it simply could not in living beings? Do beings generally retain the memories from previous awakenings, or are they "wiped" after each? I would like my character to only retain some (brief scenes or images of whatever left the strongest impressions on them in IC), and for those to mingle with the "living" memories and perhaps contort them, slowly replacing rather than erasing them. I'll also hint that not all memories may necessarily be true to begin with, but rather snippets of dreams or imaginations - even the human brain simply makes things up all the time without us realizing it, after all... Finally, would it be feasible for me to start out with a non-first awakening (to ... further along things a bit)?

...Also, what is a "mer"? I do pardon myself if it is a silly and ignorant question.

Those things said and asked, should it be at all possible for me to fit in my character as I intended and envisioned them, I'll put together a CS by next Monday the latest.
