History | Maya was born into a wealthy family in Brazil, but during her childhood, her family lost all of their inheritance and fell from grace. She decided to shoulder the burden of bringing her family back to the top and studied harder than she ever knew she could, landing herself a spot in KIU. Thankfully, she was awarded numerous grants by the Brazilian government and was able to keep her loans to a minimum. She lives farther away from campus than the other students, as I imagine the more affordable housing is farther away. She works two jobs, the first is an official, university-sanctioned position in one of the cafe shops on campus. The other is a side-job she has to help make ends meet, at a small local bookstore.

I'm in the process of putting together my own novel (really, it's a trilogy) but it IS a lot of work. One of my favorite parts is world building, so I'd be happy to help you out with some of that if you provide some more insight to your ideas.

Offering Female Character for RP - Advanced only

Hi all,

You feel like writing a story where your character is the main, and mine can be the secondary? That would be great, I'm all for it. Take a look at the example character sheet below. I crafted that for a request similar to this one, where they were looking for a female character for a story that was already lined up.

My character didn't get selected for the story, but I think you might find her interesting enough that you might want her in your story.

Just to be perfectly clear - I have two other RPs going on right now, and I am actively creating and guiding that storyline and plot. I am looking for something where I wouldn't have to do that. I don't want to come up with a world of my own, I would rather find someone who is already planning out a story, and needs a female character to fit a role.

I can follow along pretty well and I'm up for numerous kinds of genres. If you're interested, hit me a PM and let me know if you'd want to make any edits to her CS to fit the story you want to write.

Basically, I just want to bring this character to life.

Sloan Wolfe

Name: Sloan Wolfe

Age: Unknown due to memory loss - outward appearance is late 20s

Gender: Female

Race: Hybrid - Elf/unknown

She has dark gray eyes and deep brown hair, as well as a slight accent. She is medium height, standing at 5'6'' as well as athletic, nimble, and quick - not only in movement but so too in intelligence. Additionally, Sloan has incredible eyesight.

Weapons/items often carried: Sloan has the capacity to wield magic. This is not something that was taught to her, but an innate ability. She also has a vast knowledge of potion work.

Aside from magical spells, she uses a bow and arrow, to which potions are often infused into the arrow tip.



Sloan is also proficient with throwing knives and daggers. You'll see an image below of a typical outfit she would wear during a stealth mission. You will notice two smaller daggers in the woman's hand below, I imagine those to be glass throwing needles which have a hollow lining for potions to be inserted.



Last but not least, she also has another stealth gear, which provides more protection, and is more appropriate in dangerous situations. The cloak has been magically infused with protective spells. This is also the cloak she uses whens she wishes to keep her identity hidden.



I think it would be interesting to have one of her magical abilities be a connection with nature, in terms of animals. Not that she can turn into one, but communicate with them, and maybe able to share their minds type thing, where she can utilize a hawk's eyesight for example. If you think that would work, it might be interesting for her to have a familiar in bird form.

Bio/Background: As I said before, I'm happy to let you take the lead in terms of the way this story goes because it seems like that's what you've set this up to do. That being the case, I think it would be easiest for me to come into this world with a little bit of a handicap (the memory loss) so that I can work with the character for a bit, and then decide how I want to shape her past. I hope that's alright with you. I'll explain a little of her background and what happened to her below. If you like what I've put together here, let's get started!

It was summer when she woke. She had been curled up in a grassy clearing, the sound of the gentle breeze flowing through the trees and the pleasant warmth from the sun peaking through the clouds eased her awake in such a soothing manner that it took many moments for her to realize that something incredibly important was missing. Sloan sat up, unguarded in the calm grassy clearing she'd found herself in and enjoyed the beautiful imagery before again remembering that something was missing. Frowning, she wasn't quite sure what it was, but it felt quite important. Sloan took a deep breath and tried to remember what she'd been doing before she had come to the clearing for what had been a very restful nap. Nothing. Her eyes shot open briefly as panic rose within her but she took another deep breath and closed them once more, determined not to give up. There had to be something she remembered. What had she done yesterday? Who were her parents? Where had she come from? As each question passed through her mind like bullets, penetrating her calm in a barrage, her breathing quickened. Was she going somewhere? Was there anyone with her? Sloan had started to stand and look around the clearing, a ringing in her ears and tightness in her chest making her feel slightly dizzy. Who was she? What was her name?

As the panic was about to peak, a peregrine falcon (http://www.nenature.com/Images/PeregrineFalconDr.jpg) landed solidly on her right shoulder. Sloan. Instead of starting her, she immediately felt comforted by the animal's powerful grip on her. Sloan Wolfe. The slight prickling from the sharp claws was just enough to bring her back to the present and get a grip. Her left hand automatically reached out for the animal, who welcomed her touch as if this action had been done many times previously. She may not currently have access to her past, but that didn't mean she didn't have one. Sloan needed to stop focusing on what she couldn't remember and start analyzing what she did because she did know her name, she felt certain about it.

She knew she was in Regus kingdom, and that she would find a town not much farther north. Helpful information. It was much easier to focus on the things that came to her mind easily. She knew how to protect herself, the remembered abruptly, as she looked down to her right hand. A deep indigo flame erupted from the center of her palm, engulfing her entire hand in pleasant tingles. Intuitively, she knew if she used this magic on another, it would burn them until she ordered the flames to stop. No water would put them out. Many other spells ran through her mind until she felt comfortable that there was still much she could remember.

Calmer, she took a true look at her surroundings, further accessing her location, and planning further steps as the sun inched its way lazily across the sky. A quick glance behind the tree under which she'd slept discovered a bow and arrow and a handful of small knives. A small smile crept on her lips as she picked the weapons up. Instinctively, she knew how to hold, maneuver and handle these to a deadly extent, and the ease at which they felt in her hand comforted her.

Sloan decided she would not be a victim to this occurrence. She relied on her knowledge and skills, they would be sufficient to maintain her independence. She also decided to start life from that point forward, she knew enough about the way the world currently functioned to realize she could make a good amount of money being a weapons trader specializing in magically imbued weaponry. Sloan would move forward with life and make the decisions that felt right for her to make. Although she would always work to discover her past, no one has recognized her in the 20 years since that day. Sloan would not allow an inaccessible past affect who she was now, and regardless of why her memory had been lost or erased, she was still living and would continue living in the present.

Once she arrived at the nearest town that day when she woke, it wasn't long before Sloan realized there were further things she could remember, but even more questions arose from what she couldn't remember. It was clear she had some Elf ancestry, but there was something else mixed in as well, and she could only imagine what it was. Her looks and accent set her apart from the others, and they knew it. She faced discrimination for being half-elf and so found difficulty selling her wares. Since she was partial to no sides, Sloan used the skills she had to gain the upper hand. She sold her particular set of skills and was often hired for work by neighboring countries, provinces, families, etc. to eliminate threats. Preferring to retain her anonymity, Sloan worked under an alias as she amassed connections, and later used them to expand her trading power as a merchant. Very few are aware that she holds any magical power. She is currently a well-known and well-paid arms dealer within the region, but this is all she is known for.

Sullen and withdrawn with strangers, little is known about Troy, and he prefers it that way. Choosing to associate with only those who have been vetted and proven trustworthy, he is typically found alone and perfectly content in isolation. By those who are not in his inner circle, he can be perceived as distant, silent, and deadly. When forced into unavoidable social situations, Troy is coy and aloof, though practical, focused and stealthy. Around close friends, especially those he respects, he is calm, patient and caring. Few have fallen into this category, however, and his typical approach to acquaintances is emotional distance and sarcasm which can be caustic at times. His intelligence is obvious to those who have interacted with him, and he is adept at understanding body language and unspoken cues, giving him an air of insightfulness.

Troy is rugged and masculine, lithe, brawny and handsome. Dexterous and athletic, he has a perpetual five o'clock shadow and is perfectly comfortable being shirtless, finding not only the maneuverability easier but also appreciating the practicality of it if a fight is necessary. He is confident, which is clearly ascertained from the manner in which he carries himself. Latin in appearance, he is perpetually tan and moves with an elegance and grace imperceptible to himself. Long, dark waves of hair fall unmaintained from his head over piercing gray eyes.

• Intelligence - When he speaks, it is easy to tell that there is plenty of analysis going on in his mind. Although he prefers silence and to keep his insights to himself, Troy will share what he believes will be most helpful if working alongside others. Adept at not only cognitive intelligence including mathematics, language, and logic, he is also emotionally intelligent. Kinesthetic and spatial intelligence are also strengths. He is observant and calculating, adding good listening skills to this positive trait.
• Trustworthy - Troy places a lot of value in honesty and loyalty. When he commits to a team or group of people, he is fiercely loyal. Going along with his silent persona, he is a like a vault, capable of keeping even the darkest of secrets. Once he has established his position within a "pack" he can be counted on doing what he says. Punctual, dependable, and with razor sharp focus, he gives his all. If crossed, however, there are no second chances. Once trust has been lost, he does not believe in re-establishing it, believing people to show their true colors if they are capable of betrayal.
• Intuition - Perhaps more honed due to his intelligence, Troy's intuition is very high. Akin to natural instincts, he trusts his gut and feelings he gets from situations. He believes in a deeper interconnectedness to nature and others, and so has confidence that his inner superconscious is capable of picking up minute details that his active consciousness might miss. Due to this belief, as well as his heightened ability to assess situations, he will always choose to trust himself and his intuition over the opinions of others, and he's usually right to do so.

• Possessive - Territorial by nature, Troy is wary of newcomers and takes time to build trust. He does not like sharing his space with those who are not in his inner circle, and he's quick to let others know what his boundaries are. He is ready to defend what is his at a moments notice and seems to always be on alert. With those who have established a relationship with him, working or otherwise, he is more lenient and though would find it difficult to admit, prefers sharing space with those he feels are worthy. Troy can also be possessive of the people he loves, instinctually protective, he enjoys ensuring their happiness and safety.
• Stubborn - Hardheaded, and obtuse, when he believes in something, or thinks he is right about a direction to take, Troy will follow it through to the end. He enjoys a good argument and always takes the opportunity to flex his cognitive abilities. Although he is fair and listens to the opposition's logic, his mind is not easily changed.
• Sarcastic - Sarcastic to a fault, it can be difficult to have a straight conversation with Troy, especially if there isn't much respect for the other person. His sense of humor is dark, and he can seem to be pessimistic, though inwardly he maintains a positive outlook.

• Bibliophile - Troy has a love for literature, and always has a book on hand, typically stored in a back pocket for intermittent reading when bored. Some of his favorite authors include Wittgenstein, Descartes, Hume, Voltaire, and Tolstoy. Philosophy is a hobby, though he also enjoys reading historical fiction and fantasy.
• Cleanliness - With an affinity for hygiene, Troy is rarely, if ever dirty, or dirty for long. He prefers to present himself in a dignified manner; well-laundered clothes, and with a clean scent. Although he has never admitted it to anyone, the reason for his disciplined cleanliness is due largely to his mother's influence when he was younger, prior to her death. Deep down, Troy feels as though he can honor his forgotten mother by maintaining the memories he does have of her, alive.
• Trees, anyone? - Something he has found solace in is marijuana. Troy smokes unabashedly and feels as though the herb has many medicinal qualities. The modern stigma against marijuana fails to deter his habit, and though he would not pressure someone into it, he would openly smoke with those interested in joining him.
• Moon Phases - Be it because he was always fascinated with the wolf and the animal's enigmatic relationship with the moon, or because of his eventual genetic connection with the animal, Troy is always capable of telling the phases of the moon without any technological assistance.
• Spirituality - Another aspect of his personality that was shaped by his mother, Troy feels a deep sense of spirituality. He believes that we are all joined, connected as one and that separation is a mere illusion. Forgiveness is highly important in this line of reasoning, and is admittedly, the thing he has the most trouble with.

• Heightened Senses - Enhanced hearing, sight, smell, reflexes, agility and endurance. Honing the capacity to hear, see, and feel what the wolf does, as the wolf does.
• Heightened Strength - Although his strength can be considered super human, he is by no means "SuperMan". His punches can cause severe damage to internal organs, and thick brick walls, but are unable to puncture solid steel.
• Animal Communication - Troy is able to communicate freely with animals of all kinds. This is typically done in a telepathic manner, and there may be translation issues to human speech patterns.
• Regenerative Healing - Wounds heal themselves, at a rapid rate, though larger wounds do take longer to heal. He can be killed from a wound if it is large enough so that the regenerative healing does not act in time.

• Silver - Much like the mythological Werewolf, Troy is susceptible to damage from silver, even in small quantities. Silver bracelets and such will cause a burning sensation if worn too long, leaving a rash-like wound which will heal once the silver has been removed. If not removed, the burning will intensify, and the rash will expand.
• Noise - Heightened hearing also leaves Troy vulnerable to auditory attacks. High-pitched sounds negatively affect him, from a mild headache to incapacitation depending on the level of the attack.
• Loss of self - When fighting in a life or death situation, Troy has the option to give in to the animal instincts inside of him. Although this will give a significant increase to his abilities in the short term, it uses far too much life energy each time he engages in it, and once in 'wolf-mode' he will lose sense of himself, his memories, and will only give in to the primal instinct to attack and kill his enemies.

• Lesions - Lesions regularly appear throughout his body. Thankfully, his regenerative healing abilities keep them from being too much of an eyesore to those around him. Once a lesion appears, Troy will typically need a few hours before it has completely vanished. The time for the healing to control the lesions is increasing, however, what was first a few minutes, has increased to hours, which will steadily take longer and longer before Troy fears he will be unable to continue keeping the lesions at bay.
• Lack of memory - Once in a while, Troy suffers a blank slate where memories escape him. This can be as light as being unable to remember what occurred earlier in the day, to entire blank slates across years of his life.
• Body pains - General body pains with no particular cause can be debilitating.

Troy's cancer seems to have affected his brain and is rapidly growing. Although his regenerative healing abilities have been keeping the cancer in check, it is becoming stronger by the day. Currently,
he has a 70% survival rate, but this number is also decreasing steadily.

• Fire - A terrible fire took the lives of many of Troy's loved ones in his childhood. It still serves as a source of fear for him to this day. Although comfortable cooking, and around small fires such as a camp-fire, he is always cautious with this erratic element.
• Isolation - Much like the wolf, Troy prefers to live socially with a family he would die to protect. Due to childhood trauma, much of his interaction with others has changed, making him less open and outgoing, which inevitably adds to his fear. He feels the best way to keep this fear at bay is to prevent others from getting close to him so as to make it impossible to lose anyone.
• Loss of Self - Either due to the memory lapses, or when he gives into the 'wolf-y' instincts and loses himself, Troy is afraid of disappearing into nothingness. He fears not knowing who he is, his past, or his ambitions for the future.

_HISTORY

Troy was born in the islands off the coast of Brazil in South America. It was a small fishing village comprised of hard workers who survived on their own without the help of the outside world. Connected with nature and their past, this small village maintained an impressive history, but it was all lost to an inferno when Troy was but 10 years old. The majority of his village, including his mother and younger brother, perished.

Once they moved to the mainland, everything changed. No longer connected to their village or his heritage, separated from their past and everything they knew to be true, the young boy and his father began a new life. It was difficult growing up in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. His father turned to alcohol and became a bitter, abusive man. It wasn't long before he turned to a life of crime, and Troy never saw him again. Wasting away in some prison, or dead like the rest of his family, Troy didn't look back when he was on his own. Tempted into making the same easy mistakes his father made, the only thing that saved Troy from becoming yet another statistic was the memory of his mother, and the life he'd known prior to the fire.

With the decision to better himself to honor his mother, Troy turned his natural aptitude for academics into a ticket out of the slums. After achieving a scholarship to travel to the United States to complete his degree in genetics, Troy graduated top of his class. It was shortly after beginning research for his PhD that Troy learned of Project HYBRID.

Hey all! YIKES I didn't mean to be so difficult to reach. I'm changing jobs and in the process of moving apartments so things are just a little hectic for me right now.

I have spoken with @beyond visions and we'll get something for Troy up. I hope he doesn't have to die! We were already short on justice members and I think he could be an interesting addition to the team.

Sidenote - I'm female :) I just prefer to play male characters.

Two worlds collide [Searching for para/quadriplegic character]

I can play a male character, I think the other characters I would play would have more active roles, since they would be able to move around and such, but it's an interesting starting point. I'm nibbling.
