Sorry to double post, but this pertains to my IC post I'm working on:

What's Cecilia's rank? And what are the ranks of everyone else on the team (since that could be useful for future reference)?
I could ramble on for days about why a hex map is way cooler than a square grid for stuff like this, honestly. There's a reason games like Panzer General, Fantasy General, Rites of War (a turn-based video game based on Warhammer 40k), Battle for Wesnoth, and so many other turn-based strategy games use hexes. A lot of strategy board games use hexes, too.

I don't know enough about Warhammer's ruleset, but I suspect it's complicated (if my experience with games like Warmachine is anything to go by), more complicated than you'd want in a forum game. I'd probably keep the lore but find a nice, simple system for throwing armies at each other.

EDIT: Though at that point you could use a lot of different settings.
Granted. However, while you are able to be amused by the twisting of wishes, including that one, you don't derive amusement from anything else. Only the folly of people trying to outwit jerkwad genies can bring you happiness.

I wish people could just get along.

Okay, I'm home from class and I can start working on a post. Sorry about the wait!
<Snipped quote by ArenaSnow>

That got me thinking of doing a Warhammer Tabletop/Arena hybrid RP with someone, like actually doing the war game just on line and without the models. Only issue is that I know more about the lore for both Warhammers than the actual rules >.>

Yeah, plus the rules involve lots of measuring with rulers and stuff. You'd need to convert it to a hex map to simplify things, IMO.

But it could be fun. Warhammer is one good example. There's other games like it, like Warmachine. If you want a sort of Tabletop/Arena hybrid, you want something that works with squads rather than huge armies, and you need a neutral party to roll the dice.
NAME: Kazimir Volkov

AGE & DATE OF BIRTH: 70, October 1, 1920

DATE & CAUSE OF DEATH: TBA

GENDER: Male

BIRTHPLACE (SSR included): Moscow, Russia

REPRESENTING SSR: Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic

POLITICAL AFFILIATION: Expansionist

OBJECTIVE: Foster Communism abroad, thwart the United States wherever it goes, ally with or absorb states in South America, and protect the Motherland and her people at all costs.

RELIGION AND ETHNICITY: Atheist, Russian

OTHER: It is difficult to say who Volkov's parents were, or even to verify that he was born in Moscow. His father was reportedly a soldier who fought for the Red Army in the Bolshevik Revolution. He must have been from a poor family, and it's very possible that his father wasn't a soldier at all. Still, Volkov signed up eagerly to fight for Russia when World War II broke out.

Volkov fought in World War II as a common infantryman, but he rose through the ranks at a respectable pace. He saw the worst of the fighting personally and was among those soldiers that celebrated in Berlin after Nazi Germany were defeated. He returned home and stayed in the military and became thoroughly educated in military affairs. He did not, however, receive any other sort of education, and views the study of topics unrelated to war and foreign affairs a sordid waste of his time.

The salty old general left the military five years ago to join the Politburo. He does a good job of coming off as a lethargic old man, but in reality is very attentive and observant.

Volkov wants to see Communism spread to all the world. He doesn't necessarily want to march the Red Army across the globe - that would, after all, be a tremendous undertaking - but he does think it is feasible to help weaker nations realize their potential and embrace Russia's form of government. That, he thinks, would be better both for those foreign nations, for Russia, and for the citizens of the world.
Something Battletech is my thought at the moment. Problem is I don't think the action part would see much appeal outside the Arena section... if it got that far. Nation RP, -possibly-. Regular I can see it going wrong pretty fast, though. If folks even got past the action oriented part, and without mechs, the main focus of BT; it's nothing really special.

I'm so rusty at the tabletop I could never GM, let alone play that right with full stats the way BT works, which means I would have to improv some mechanics or spend plenty of time relearning them...

First off: I LOVE BATTLETECH. It's one of my favorite fandoms. I mainly pilot Centurions in MWO right now and I love blasting stuff apart with an AC 20 and SRMs because that's how we roll in the Inner Sphere, baby.

Secondly: I dunno if it'd make a great NRP, but I could see it making a good tabletop game, yeah. But I'd honestly not use the Battletech system (which has some similarities with the Shadowrun system), but instead go for something lighter and easier to manage.

...Actually, I could see Fantasy Age being adapted for use as a Battletech ruleset with a LOT of adjustment. A lot. A lot a lot. But it has some of the cool, action-oriented mechanics that make combat cool... You could probably make everyone have the same class, but make that class really modular and basically represent both the mech and the pilot...

...If I make a Battletech RP this summer, it's your fault.
@Shorticus I say a mix of colors and the || work best.

@Shorticus Green text is easier to read, but honestly the style of the first one seems to fit more with the preservers in my opinion. Sorry for the conflicted feelings.

So, like this?

//So we take to the stars now, we who were left behind to maintain the memory of our progenitors.// #Preserve focused its attention on those countless intelligences whose messages had ceased. They were too caught up in the lifting of the vessel to relay their thoughts. //We will do this until there are no more stars left. We will find what other life there is among the stars and keep it from destroying itself. We will do this because we are the Preservers.//

Is that better in general? Alternatively, I was thinking of trying it with the same purple I used in my IC post title. As in...

I will gladly suffer whatever fate I must if the Glorious Leader deems my efforts unsatisfactory. In the name of all that is glorious, I will root out these wicked rebels!

I have a solution to ending these bombings, comrades. What if... now hear me out... what if we bombed the buildings FIRST?
