So, what's the verdict on this? Are we still game, or are you hoping to get a few more participants first, @Chairman Stein?
Pretty sure Epicberet's the only person left. And yeah, I'm looking forward to future turns as well. Conflict and diplomacy can really begin.

I'm settling on the word "Tyrant" for now, by the by. I'll go back and change things some time today.

EDIT: Okay, I lied. I like the word Potentate too much. I just made it a regulii word. SUE ME.

Also, how do you pronounce Ilitscium? I keep thinking it must sound surprisingly a lot like "Elysium."

EDIT 2: Also... I love the stone trolls already. Big, peaceful, lovable lumps of rocky flesh. That's awesome.
I really don't know why you want a goat.
...I got you really drunk, didn't I?
...Hm.

I'm gonna be honest: I see the next major raiding target of the saurians being Ashkar's newly settled villages and shoreline towns. People just settling new territory over the course of a century have got to be tempting targets for raiders. And it's been established that ships were sent out to explore the eastern region as a whole...

@ZB1996, I'm gonna shoot you a PM some time so we can discuss and prepare for that in the next century. I'm assuming a lot of the commoners that became soldiers in this century don't have the same fighting traditions of the old warrior caste, and I'm assuming their chief experience is fighting other edimmu in land battles.

Psssh, who said King has to be male-specific? There's quite a few example of female Kings in real life; your pople could've just adopted the title from the Prometheans except your Kings are all women. :P

That's... actually a really neat idea.

I've done some thinking and I think I've narrowed myself to three options:

  • Autarch / Potentate - Having talked with Clock briefly on the matter, one of these words could certainly be Ilitsciumi in nature.
  • King - Female king, yeah.
  • Tyrant - Okay, that's just a really scary title to have, and I think I'm going to establish pretty well in the next century that the saurians love making other people fear them so they don't have to actually get their claws dirty. Better to be hated and feared than hated and dead.
Despot was on my mind and still is. King doesn't work because saurian rulers are all female. Queen works...

Maybe "Chief" and "High Chief" would work, too. Potentate still works, but I'd have to change its origin.
...I totally forgot you gave 'em a government sheet.

*SHAME INTENSIFIES*

I'll chew on that and see about reworking a little of my post. Potentate probably isn't the best choice. But now it strikes me that the government of the Promethean Empire isn't that different from that of Zaqir.

Also... Yeah, now that I look at it again, that flag definitely works as a Germanic flag.
@Frengo Huh. Okay, so let me just ask: is there any language in the world you associate with the Prometheans? For purposes of drawing inspiration for words.

My nation is borrowing a fair bit from people that it's fought in the past culturally. They like regulii goods, they have the Promethean calendar, they use some words from the Promethean language, etc. So, I'm very interested in language stuff for the Promethans. Maybe there's a better word than what I chose.

And what was the Promethean government like?
Hey @Shorticus, just curious about something. Is the ruler of Zaqir being called a Potentate a reference to Elder Scrolls lore and the Tsaesci Akaviri Potentates?

Nah, but really the only word I could find that fit what I was looking for was "dictator." "Dictator" seemed a dumb title, and Potentate has Latin origins. Prometheans strike me as our world's Rome (especially being named Prometheans, with Prometheus being the Greek mythological figure who brought fire to man). So... Potentate was the best word.
@SavOrhchid Just as an FYI, the raid that happened on your people in my post would've been some rinky dinky village, and only five captives were taken. Nothing big happened. No looting. I hope that's okay.

@ClocktowerEchos I made a couple changes before posting what I showed you earlier, mostly stuff to clarify the "no, they're not trading" part. At least, not yet.
