As someone who once unironically used grey-on-black text .... don't. Its impossible to read on OLED screens, which include most modern phones.

Sometimes I feel like this site is a Thai buffet. I'm sure there's delicious things here, but for the life of my I can't find anything that really speaks to me right now.

When not prepping for my D&D table, I should spruce up some of my stuff here. Not all of my old content is the garbage I presumed it was. But some things I wrote we won't talk about ....

Reflections on characters past: "Adi really was a spoiled brat. How did I ever think her motivations were compelling?"

Bio

Peace is a lie. There is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I remember the one which came before that which died not for lack of interest but for the GM dropping off the face of the earth for many months and then making a new int check without ever attempting to resurrect the previous. I may be interested in returning seeing this apparent change of leadership. But I know not if my character will even work as she, and her lore, have evolved far beyond what the original scope of this was.

EDIT: also as a seeming trend I've encountered, the discord link is invalid.
@ArmorPlated I will dare say that this ...

On my end, I'm also the opinion that the crossover aspect ultimately feels forced and tacked on one way or another, like you haven't given it enough relevance. Nothing in the setting given leads to or justifies multiversal interactions in any real way beyond you saying they can be a thing OOC, it reduces what you're using to pitch your game ("A Multidimensional RP") to a gimmick character select screen whereas usually dimension-hopping is kind of a big deal. It's a shame because I do think you might have something with the setting (cult trying to accelerate multiversal collapse/singularity) and more controlled non-sandbox structure.

... doesn't leave a lot of room for interpretation. While the concern expressed does have some merits, it would be very difficult to argue that the delivery wasn't off-puttingly blunt. And said delivery completely overshadows any validity to the point where I find it rather justified to be dismissive of it.
Probably because I was trying to get everyone to brainstorm from the get go as opposed to having anything solid right off the bat *.*;

This is never a particularly easy lesson to learn, but it's a good one. I've rescinded my interest from so many prospects that I've stopped even mentioning it. I just silently subscribe to the thread and watch. The reason almost every time is that something isn't disclosed up front. A game mechanic, a crucial bit of world lore, you name it and it's happened. The way I've taken to doing int checks is that the full thread as you'd put it up in an RP is what goes up in the int check. The interest check is exactly that, an interest check, to get people in and writing CSs rather than a mostly-finished concept being pitched before its ready. That said, it takes forever ... a lesson I am learning the hard way slowly plugging along with Tear the World Down.

That's probably true, but it didn't seem like Hex and Arch were actively giving criticism as opposed to pushing for things to be done in a way they wanted it to be done.

This is grammatically weird. I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or countering me. Was "didn't" supposed to be "did"?

EDIT:
> DOOM 2016
Good choice. :)
@jynmi88 The best course of action at this juncture would be to adapt the concept in accordance with any valid criticism received (not every critique is valid criticism), take 2-3 days to do so and further refine the idea and the post that presents it, and re-pitch it. The biggest criticism I'll give you is that the main post gives a lot of information about the world which is good, but not a lot about the mechanics of the RP that it introduces ... and it could use a good formatting pass.

You had interest so it's reasonable to expect that interest, and potentially more, will come back on a second attempt. My other feedback is that you don't need to go through a formal interest check process before creating and opening an RP. That's not written anywhere. You could skip the re-pitch and go straight to a thread. From experience, I usually see as many people join in after the thread is up as I see people actually come over from the int check (usually int checks have between a 25-50% retention rate on average).

And if it's any consolation, I've had RPs die in similar manners too. Sometimes it's something you do, and sometimes the writing gods just say "No."

EDIT: One thing I wish to mention is that as a GM you're in the management business. It's both your right and to an extent your job to smack down commentary made in bad faith. You should never give a good faith answer to a bad faith critique.
@HeySeuss I put XL300 engines in my catapult. :P 58.6kph on top of heavy PPCs.
@jynmi88 Not even OCs would be excluded from the supposed problem. I have a right pile of science-fiction lore I've written over years to the point of creating an entire continuous universe. I could pull characters from that at whim and they would be OCs under the standard definition, whilst still having all of the objections Archmage and Zero Hex have cited.
"Well this shit just keeps gettin' fuckin' weirder ..."

Never was a fan of trying to make the extradimensional characters work in these things so I will likely opt to stay more grounded.
@Nieszka Yep this is that Mechwarrior.

And where there is Mechwarrior, there is Sierra. Double points awarded for having my personal choice of 100 tonners there on the banner image.
Now here's the million dollar question: Do I go with the veteran former pilot who's no stranger to the atrocities of war ... or do I go with the scared undertrained rookie promoted out of necessity not merit?
@Fading Memory I think you and I need to talk. I've been having issues with getting my character's backstory arc to work because I had to cut out a character that was fairly pivotal (there's no good way for said character to exist here). One solution I've considered is there being a character already in the RP I could use in that position, but up until ten seconds ago, none existed that would do the job. Giovanni might just do the job. It's something I should run by you in more detail later tonight to see if you're willing to help out with.
