Bio

Hi! I'm Silver. I'm a 28-year-old woman in CA with more than a touch of the 'tism and I've been doing RP-by-post since I was 12 and heavily into Warrior Cats (lol). I've taken a few years of a break for undergrad and grad school and I'm happy to be jumping back in again! I enjoy writing fantasy, mild psychological horror, angst, action, and sometimes romance. Fandoms I enjoy RPing are Hellaverse, Undertale, TADC, and Harry Potter. I typically play OCs only.

Other than that, I have two cats (really one but the other is my boyfriend's cat) and a snake! I am a music therapist and a university lecturer as well.

I tend to post at least once a day in my RPs, but sometimes more frequently. However, I don't mind needing to wait a few days for a post! I just get excited to write 😁

I’m here from Warrior Cats RPG/Feral Front. DM me if you think we played together over there!

Sirpa watched the man closely, head tilted to one side as she thought. Her eyebrows furrowed in concern andβ€”β€”brieflyβ€”β€”the static in her skin subsided in a moment of recognition. β€œYou like it to be loud, don’t you?” she asked. β€œYou need it.”

Thanks! It was nice to feel clear about it. Since then I’ve wondered if I should have gone into teaching bc I love working with kids, but I don’t want a classroom of 25-30 of them so I feel pretty good with the direction I chose lol. Tutoring on the side fills that in for me. It’s neat bc I think my β€œthing” is working with kids, and with music therapy I can support them in academic and personal growth through a medium that is less scary and very play-based

I’m curious what y’all do for work?

Also yes, I do have ideas πŸ˜‚ BUUUT Sirpa doesn’t!! At least not to the same level lol
I LOVE a good working-through-traumas storyline (and creative representations of it). I’m excited to see this character’s situation unfold 😁
Fixed it. I totally interpreted your post as Teresa leaving and talking to Morgan lol

@Tlazolteotl
I've always been into music and I wanted to be a verbal therapist in high school but then after I went to junior college I was like "music therapy has to be a thing, right?" and a university less than an hour from me had a degree program for it lol, I ended up getting stuck on YouTube for hours for like three days straight watching videos of music therapy, especially in pediatric hospitals and with NICU babies. I basically changed my major overnight. It was cool because I had a moment of "oh, this is what I'm meant to do!" That all got me into it and then once I learned more in undergrad, I ended up working with at-risk youth and I love it! I'm transitioning into mostly special education now but I still work at the kids' summer camp for our local family shelter and would love to continue with that population
@Stanifly
Sorry, I thought Teresa was talking to Morgan for some reason lol let me change my post

"Oh, I'm Sirpa." Sirpa was only half paying attention to the other woman. "Sorry, what was your name?" She spoke to her but was still focused on the man sitting in front of her. This felt important. She stood there awkwardly for a moment, watching the man before taking a seat with him at his table. "I'm just gonna sit here if that's okay..."

She sat with her hands pressed between her thighs, her body trying to shrink away from the persistently throbbing bass coming from what felt like each and every speaker in the world. After a moment or two of sitting quietly, Sirpa spoke again. "So... do you like going to clubs like this?" She felt weird talking to someone who so clearly did not want to be talked to. But it seemed like that's what she was supposed to do, so she pressed on. "It's pretty loud."

I am not planning to become a full-time professor haha, I want to create a music therapy program in our local school district. I worked at one of the county schools previously but our university sends practicum students into the local schools every fall and we want to have a solidified program there for continuation of care for the classrooms we work with and expand into more schools and classrooms in the district.
Thanks y'all! 😁
@Tlazolteotl
I teach about music therapy! This semester, I'm teaching three classes:

1. Music with Children in Inclusive Settings which goes over music therapy in special education.

2. Research in Music which focuses more on music therapy research, but in general is an introduction to research with a theme of music-related research.

3. The first semester course for Practicum where the students are going out into the field to start doing music therapy under supervision!

I'm only teaching for this semester to cover for the program director's sabbatical but I plan to stick around to continue supporting students and cover a class here and there if needed.
Holding on for the Thanksgiving break and the end of the semester! It was my first time as a professor and it is a wild experience

I hope your week was good!

Sirpa eyed the man as the fighter spoke to him. Weird, she thought. Is it just too loud to hear him? Sirpa stepped forward to stand beside the fighter and address the man as well. She paused for a moment, watching him with his drink and considering. Then, she carefully took one hand away from her ear and reached for the man. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder and carefully watched his face for any reaction.
