since all of my RPs are romances i feel i could make a really witty tinder joke right here but alas i'm too fucking stupid

anyway, here are some character ideas i'd like to explore. some of them come pre-loaded with some lore from old RPs, and some are just concepts or tropes that i want to crank up to 11 haha. please DM me if any of these spark interest!! even if there are things you might want to tweak, please reach out, as none of this is set in stone ^-^

the shut-in aristocrat

Victorian/Regency era invalid vibes. probably a male character, though could be female. suffers from an unnamed condition causing general weakness and debility, frequent bronchial infections, fevers, and asthma. is housebound but has many interests. he is an accomplished musician, particularly violin but also piano; he enjoys drawing, especially botanical drawing and portraiture; and of course is an avid reader. he was once a very active socialite but most of his old associates have fallen off as his condition has worsened over time. usually written in his mid 40s or so, but flexible on age. would love a little spring/autumn romance action, but i also have dreams in my head of pairing him off with a tragic widow of his own age, or even someone working-class.

the unrepentant rake

Victorian/Regency era, though early 20th century could probably work as well. usually has an alcohol problem to some degree or other. was dishonorably discharged from the military-- this, coupled with his frequent bad behavior, has become a permanent stain on the family name. he is earnest and passionate, loves to have a good time, and cannot get his fucking shit together. i enjoy pairing him with someone needy in whumpy type pairings to help redirect all that energy somewhere more productive lmao. this man could fall in love with literally anyone, i think. he's more complex than he might seem though and has plenty of trauma to bring to the table, especially relating to his deceased older brother.

the brood mother

i, um... would like to play someone (any gender) pregnant. very pregnant. the logistics are totally up for discussion. i am pretty flexible :3 i would prefer that there be some plot to this one as well. we can discuss further in DMs. <3

Ana (TW: eating disordered character)

basically, i want to write as a person with a restrictive eating disorder. gender, time period, and setting can all be discussed. i will say that this topic is personal to me and my enjoyment of writing it is multi-faceted. i would aim for a portrayal that's somewhat realistic, but also frankly romanticized. i completely get that this is basically nobody's cup of tea, but i thought i would put it here as an option haha. i would also 100% be leveraging said disorder for drama and shit as well.

the warrior king

medieval fantasy, arranged marriage. his kingdom has been at war with its neighbor for so long that they've both forgotten how to be at peace. while trade routes are choked from one side, plague has stricken the other, and both kingdoms are being brought to their knees. the warrior king has been on the front lines, commanding his armies, for so many years that he's almost forgotten how to be a courtier. but the war finally ends, and the kingdoms agree to solidify their treaty with a political marriage between them. the warrior king is to marry the prince/ss of the enemy kingdom (YC), who has every reason to believe that MC is a monster. what YC quickly comes to realize is that while MC is indeed a ferocious warrior with many lives claimed, he also has the capacity for great gentleness and caring. ideally his betrothed would be just a tiny little thing (hello size difference) and maybe a little sickly/needy as a treat. the warrior king would have to readjust to life at court, stuff and things would happen. i think it would be fun to explore this adjustment period (which could take... a while) both to his new marriage and life at court. can be MxF or MxM.

whenever i try to write anything about myself or my RP needs my post ends up way too long so i'm gonna just get to the point haha. i've recently started up a couple of super fun contemporary and futuristic RPs, so now i'm craving something historical-flavored to balance it out. below are some rough ideas, i am not married to anything here, it's just a jumping-off point!

also, i am one of those awful "i have to have romance" type of people. these are basically all just slightly more complicated romance pairing ideas lol. when it comes to the gender(s) of those involved, it's really up to you! i'm comfortable playing as or against any gender. please specify what gender(s) you're after if you send me a PM ^-^

lastly, intimate scenes are entirely optional. i can do them, i can do without them, all good! just lmk. ons and offs are available upon request.

okay, on to my silly little notions!

Victorian arranged marriage + hurt/comfort/whump sandbox

our characters are forced into an arranged marriage through a combination of pushy parents and unfortunate circumstances. both of our characters bring to the marriage long-kept secrets and piles of baggage. one of YC's secrets is a chronic condition/disability that their family has been desperate to keep hidden from the public due to the impact it would have on their name. one of MC's secrets is so scandalous that it has ruined his reputation, and he needs to marry YC to win back some social credibility.

both of characters think they know how they feel about the other already, and neither are looking forward to being married to each other. they've scarcely even spoken before the wedding night, and it's not until all is said and done, and they're left alone to consummate, that truths slowly start to come out.

starting that night, the two fall into a whirlwind romance while traveling on their honeymoon. the rigors of travel pose challenges related to YC's health, but MC doesn't seem to mind looking after them. if anything, those gentle moments of caregiving bring them even closer together.

when they return home, society expects the couple to lay low and be on their good behavior. but finding mutual acceptance for their genuine selves in each other leaves our characters feeling bold. They've both been out of society for a while for various reasons, so as they accept every perfunctory courtesy invitation that was expected to be denied, people begin to talk. our characters turn up at every social event that they can, daring to be different and happy, and at home, every day is bliss. but we know that this can't last for long....

so i'd like to start with the wedding night, i think, and play things out from there? i feel the story could go a number of different ways as they're establishing themselves in society, the plot could go dark/serious/heavy, it could go melodramatic/emotional/more fluff, i'm definitely down to discuss!

Victorian-era psychodrama:

something along the lines of, YC is from a family with a respectable name hiding a mountain of debt. i would play a pair of brothers from a family with a disgraced name, but more money than god. the idea is YC is betrothed to the older brother as a way to secure their family's finances, and rescue my characters' family from social ruin. the brothers both have their admirable qualities, but the older brother is an uptight, chronically ill traditionalist while the younger brother is a free-spirited rake.

YC falls in love with the younger brother, but YC's is forced by circumstance to go through with marrying the older brother. then, three of them wind up inhabiting the grand family estate during the winter, and everything goes to absolute shit. ideally, i'd love for this plot to see the characters all lose themselves to emotion with a sweeping backdrop of seaside moors and a palatial manor. also laudanum, bloodletting, dramatic fainting, and of course lots of falling-deathly-ill-after-being-in-the-rain type vibes. i adore the "fragile aristocrat" trope and i also adore caregiving themes, so feel free to play YC as the most precious and delicate flower of them all. XD

Victorian-era painter x muse:

i would love to play an up-and-coming painter who fixates on YC as their muse. i don't have my heart set, really, on YC being anyone in particular. they could be a sheltered, high-society aristocrat who is scandalized as the painter draws them into their libertine lifestyle. YC could be a workhouse pauper who can't even afford to eat properly, just keeping their head down and trying to survive; something about their quiet dignity fascinates MC, and he offers them a job as a model. YC could be a famous singer or performer that MC has always wanted to paint; MC pulls some strings and manages to get to speak to YC at long last. along the way, we may meet jealous patrons, ex-lovers, chekcered pasts, and officious busybodies who want to stand in the way of true love (which obviously they WONT but we're gonna let them try XD)

ALTERNATIVE TWIST: adding in supernatural elements, the painter character could have some kind of ability to bind their subject's life force to a painting, thereby weakening them more and more over time, and effectively enabling the painter to be immortal. this time the painter would develop genuine feelings for their subject, but not until the painting was already well underway, and the subject feeling the effects.

the painter could also be a vampire, instead or in addition. why a vampire? because it would be sexy and romantic, that's why lmaooo

save the princess! a medieval fantasy hurt/comfort/whump sandbox:

at the end of the day guys, hurt/comfort is my fucking jam. so what if we come up with a lavish medieval-fantasy set piece with a handful of lively characters and do everything we can to torment YC in as many different ways as possible while MC rescues and comforts them? (magic optional but highly encouraged) i really just want an excuse to write whump in a dreamy fantasy setting. i know to some people that sounds like a nightmare but i literally would love that so much.

my first thought is that YC is a princess (or prince, or nonbinary royal offspring) who has been afflicted from birth with the worst luck imaginable, with all manner of illnesses (pls), accidents (yISS), and misfortunes (hooraY). as it turns out, they bear a curse that has been dormant for so long that it was forgotten. we spend the RP on hurt/comfort/whump as well as trying to break the curse (probably using dangerous and uncertain means). alternatively, maybe the gender nonspecific royal party needs to be escorted on some long journey, and i could write as their bodyguard/carer, and/or the rest of the servants in their cadre tending to their various needs. i'd also love to play a court physician haha.

🌿🏠🌿 a solarpunk utopia 🌿🏠🌿

i have recently been introduced to the concept of solarpunk. according to wikipedia, solarpunk is:

Solarpunk is a literary, artistic, and social movement... that envisions and works toward actualizing a sustainable future interconnected with nature and community. The "solar" represents solar energy as a renewable energy source and an optimistic vision of the future that rejects climate doomerism, while the "punk" refers to do it yourself and the countercultural, post-capitalist, and sometimes decolonial aspects of creating such a future.

if you want more of a snapshot of the general vibe, here is a city in China that typifies the solarpunk aesthetic, seamlessly unifying technology and nature into a cohesive, sustainable whole:





my current craving is to write within a solarpunk setting. it could take place in a still-developing version of this setting, where fragments of the old way of living are still visible, even though nature has reclaimed 99% of the planet. the world would be kind of a wild place, where the technology of this future is still being formed, and day-to-day life can be challenging as the characters must contend with their environment. alternatively, this could be even farther in the future, where technology has re-emerged from the naturo-apocalyptic ruins of the present day, and has evolved into a kind of utopia.

some ideas for pairings within this setting:

- doctor x patient: the dominance of the natural world might not be without its flaws; i imagine a host of new and unpredictable diseases floating around this world. MC would be a doctor in charge of researching these conditions for treatments and cures. YC would be one of the many afflicted, suffering from some devastating illness.

- gardener x cyborg: one of them is so in tune with nature that their blood could be full of chlorophyll. the other is at least 75% machine. given the dependence upon and reverence for nature inherent to a solarpunk setting, i imagine that gardeners would be considered the backbone of society. the cyborg's role in society is up for discussion, but they would probably be both a medical marvel and a social pariah, considered a ghost of the old world that no one wants to look at. open to either role for this!

- doctor x present-day citizen awakened from cryo-sleep: ya so it's your typical "military base discovers some past projects in cryo-sleep in a dusty basement" type of setup, but the person wakes up in a solarpunk version of the future. i do enjoy medical and caregiving themes, so i'd love a heavy focus to be MC, the doctor, helping YC recover, rehabilitate, and orient themselves to the new world. perhaps MC is a physiotherapist helping YC regain their mobility and such?

anyway, i don't know if anyone will be interested in this, it's just something that is currently fascinating me haha. definitely PM me if you're intrigued! however i'd be down for other RPs as well, so if you think we'd vibe but don't want to do a solarpunk setting, shoot me a PM and we can chat :3 i could definitely see this vibe applying to a more historical or even medieval fantasy time period, if that's your bag.

what i'm looking for:

- romance please. i kinda need for there to be a strong romantic flavor between the main characters. there can (hopefully WILL) be other stuff happening, there could even be more than two characters (i enjoy playing more than one but don't expect it of you!) but i need my lovey dovey mushy gushy ooey gooey goodness 😭 even if there is drama and tension, there has GOT to be tenderness and affection as well.

- smut is purely optional, i can take it or leave it.

- the main characters can be whatever gender(s) suit your fancy, in that department i'm not at all picky! i do have a SLIGHT preference for playing female right now, if you're wondering, but that's very slight, may change, and i am always happy to play male or nb or trans or what have you! (the only genders i stay away from are ones characterized by fetishized terms, i.e. "futa". it's just not my vibe. i play my characters as real as i can, and i'm not here for overly porny setups and disrespectful caricatures of trans/queer people.)

- substance, heart, drama, emotion. more than just horny nonsense (horny nonsense is welcome too though lmao). i want the RP to take on a life of its own, and to keep us coming back even after the initial excitement has faded. i'm not the strongest at crafting grand plots and schemes, but i like to think i do well bouncing ideas around with a partner to mutually create something worthwhile. i also generally prefer RPs that are more character-driven in nature, i'll get bored fast with stuff that's mostly action.

- i'm happy to write in a lot of different genres and settings! Victorian-era, Regency, Old West, and contemporary are my favorites, i guess? i'll have a few points below about the ones i'm not looking for right now.

- longer responses. i'd describe my "sweet spot" as being roughly 4 paragraphs OR MORE, potentially a lot more if i'm feeling inspired. i will lose interest quickly if our replies are only a couple sentences long. definitely no need to pad for the sake of padding of course, i just like to write about my character's internal world and experience, and sometimes do detailed scenery and appearance descriptions, and would love for my partner to do the same :3

i am a former member of this forum returning after a long hiatus, wishing to start afresh (and having lost the keys to my old account). right now i'm mainly here for romance-centered, multi-paragraph, one x one RPs with some substance (as in, more than just smut lmfao). i do love me some tropes tho.

i identify as femme nonbinary (AFAB, if it matters) but am willing and able to play as/against any gender :D also open to a variety of genres, settings, and pairings.
