@TheMadAsshatter Sorry, I was out of town this weekend! But absolutely, go ahead and post first (I'm kind of not sure what to post anyways.)
Sorry for the inactivity! I will try to get a post up soon! @TheMadAsshatter I don't have a problem with that.
@Belle

Khalid watched in amazement as the woman, Echo, pressed her finger to the glass and freed the blue fish from its torment, then followed her finger around like a toy.

"You have a way with fish," he said, a laugh accentuating his accent.

He smiled at her somewhat brash, but still sweet, compliment, and dropped into a bow. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Echo. My name is Khalid. And might I say, you are quite beautiful." She was quite the curious little human, but then again, he found them all rather curious.

Khalid could tell when somebody wanted to be left alone and it seemed Quinton did. He glanced over at the young woman Quinton pointed out then nodded his head.

"Of course. Thank you," he added as he got to his feet. "I hope you have a good night, if I don't run into you again." With one last smile at Quinton, he left his side and walked over to Echo.

He stopped briefly, not wanting to startle her. "They're quite extraordinary, aren't they?" he asked, looking at the fish. They were beautiful, but being in a container like that reminded him far too much of his own painful century stuck in a lamp. Why humans had such a fascination with caging creatures, he didn't understand.
'Resting his eyes' was not a term Khalid really understood, but then again, humans said a lot of strange things he didn't understand. What was important to him was that the man was in fact, alright.

"Oh, no," he said, pleasantly surprised. "I do not require any aid. I merely wanted to check that you were alright. Do you mind if I sit?" he asked, gesturing to the seat next to Quinton.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Quinton. My name is Khalid." After a moment, he smiled. "You know, there are actual servants here. You are a quest."

@cloudystarKhalid knew he should have been interacting more and putting himself out there, but he felt such a foreigner and wasn't even sure how to start. That was how he found himself heading over to the refreshment table. He got himself a drink and some pastries then made his way over to the chairs nearby to sit and eat when he noticed a young man, already sitting there, but his eyes were closed.

Initially, Khalid panicked a little. He was getting better at understanding people, but he thought they only kept their eyes closed for such long periods if they were sleeping - or worse.

"Sir?" he asked, sitting next to the young man. "Are you alright?"
@ineffableOh have you not read The Rose and the Dagger yet? And you know, it's YA. We will never be free of love triangles. But hey, we got Khalid so it makes it worth it.
@ineffable I mean, technically, yes, he could have, but then he would have been dooming all the people he was supposed to protect. The whole point is he wasn't selfish; he was owning up to his mistake and suffering so his people would not die (well, you know, except for the wives...)
@ineffable Funny thing is, I made this character before I read Wrath and the Dawn, but I also live that Khalid so much (so it ended up being a happy accident because I completely forgot!)
