Saffron frowned, shaken with inner doubts over her CO's proclamation. She'd always worked within the standard operational protocols as part of her previous assignments and the idea of not having clear communication channels shook her up a little. What should the squad do in combat if Cmdr Riley went down without assigning a deputy, who would take charge?

Taking a deep breath she pushed her doubts aside. This was no time to raise such concerns, with the squad gathered together, at best it would make her seem argumentative and petty and at worse it may undermine the Commander's authority. Besides she'd just been given an order.

Jumping to her feet the Warrant Officer snapped off a salute to her CO before standing to attention and with her eyes focusing in the middle distance she began to speak. "Warrant Officer class one Saffron Bridges reporting for duty, Sir." She began, unsure exactly what the team would need to hear that hadn't been included in her file, "Specialist training in close combat and tactical planning, Sir."

Having completed her breakdown Saffron fell silent, still standing to attention as she awaited a response.
@Geoffrey Silt interesting idea. I take it the character would be a psychic of some kind, imprinting a mental image of himself onto others and then causing psychosomatic injuries based on what the target thought they should be suffering from his attacks?

As for the gravity manipulator, I've already got rules for Magneto's magnetic powers which can easily be reworked as gravity control instead. :)
So I feel like i should point out that one wouldn't get demoted to warrant officer...A warrant officer is usually an Enlisted who climbed the ranks and was made an officer by a "warrant" not commission. They are technical specialist in there fields. So they are between commissioned officers and Enlisted. So if she was always an officer she would be a commissioned officer, and would be demoted down into a commissioned officer rank. Sorry I'm Ex-military so that was kind of bugging me. Rant is over XD

Saffron was stripped of her commission after striking a superior officer, but rather than being demobilised she was instead given a warrant as a non-commissioned officer at the urging of her psychiatrist, who believed that her skills warranted keeping her within the military.

Her psychiatrist was also the one who recommended Saf for the SABRE programme, as she believed the small unit synergy would help Saf overcome her developing inferiority and persecution complexes. That's one of the reasons she's so concerned with the chain of command by the way, she sees it as another example of others trying to ostracise her.
Fallout: Lone Star. Coming soon to a PC and Xbox. But not Playstation for another three months.

Actually we've got the PS version nailed, but Microsoft are still dragging their heels over the tentacle monster pit in the cargo bay. Apparently it's not family friendly to have it raping Japanese schoolgirls on a continuous twenty minute loop. I tried to explain how the QTE is essential to the plot, but they're just not having it.
Well, judging from how they are claws...

I never actually stated they were claws, just that Favis perceived them as claws while his hand was stuck inside the locker getting cut. It's entirely possible that they could be something else entirely, and his impression that he was being cut by claws was mistaken, due to lack of information available to make an informed judgment.

The space yetis will not be impressed.

The thing to remember here is that at least half of what I tell you is a complete lie, and the other half is made up on the spot.

Ughhhh, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to continue this. Sorry to ditch you guys, I thought I'd be able to do it, but them creative juices aren't flowing too well.

Sorry to see you go. Would you like to be written out in an appropriately climactic way, or left on the side lines in case you want to rejoin later?
Also, lightyears are a measurement of distance, not time. One photon of light takes one Earth year to travel one lightyear.

One lightyear is 5.87849981 × 1012 miles.
One lightyear is 9.4605284 × 1012 kilometers.

Also a parsec is a cubed lightyear.

An area of one parsec around a star is referred to as that star's sector. In very rare cases where more than one main sequence star is present within the same sector the sector is identified by whichever star has the greater luminosity when viewed from Earth (the datum), which can mean when in deep space a sector would actually be named after a dimmer star, as your own relative position may be closer to the 'minor' within the sector than Earth is.

Aright first post up. I liked your formatting with the doctors speech in blue @Light so I gave Rory the color 'tomato' cause why not. Let me know if you want me to not do that or whatever formatting you want for posts.

Following the trend I went with purple for Saf, since it seemed a little dim I also emboldened it for easier viewing.
Saffron was more confused than ever about this new setup, chain of command was based on their assigned squad numbers? In that case Sgt Garron outranked SSgt Grayeson rather than the other way around, and all three sergeants out ranked Lt Indar. Worst of all a civilian outranked her. Unable to hold back any longer she quickly raised her hand and glanced down the line of chairs towards her new CO.

"I'm sorry to speak out of turn Sir, but could I just clarify the chain of command? You said 'lowest number is in charge', does that go for all ranks?" She was sure she was making herself sound stupid, and the others already knew of her previous history with command, but if she really was to be treated as the junior amongst them she was certainly not going to let them make her inconsequential.

Managed to find any well-armoured Paladins to join us at all? Kis needs a solid lump of meat to help keep her opponents distracted while she sneaks up behind them. >D

A portal in the Fog stable enough to support a village? There must be more to it than that. Kis thought. In her experience portals were usually random events, popping up all over but rarely in the same place for long. If the village had found some way of opening portals themselves, or at least attracting forming portals closer to themselves, then it was certainly something worth investigating.

And then there was the matter of the battlemage. Even if his wife was exaggerating his powers, as spouses were wont to do, then a magic user so close to the strange phenomena couldn't be a coincidence. Whatever was happening out in the Fog Kis knew she had to be one of the people to investigate. Stepping up towards the woman Kis coughed politely and turned to look around the room with a warm, friendly smile.

"Hi everybody, most of you already know me, but for those who don't I'm Kismet," Taking a quick bow Kis took a moment to wave to a few of the adventurers she recognised, sharing a familiar greeting with them to renew old acquaintances. When she was done she turned back to the woman leading the meeting and with earnest eyes continued with her introduction. "You could call me a greeter of sorts. I hunt the wastes for newcomers to the realm and help to acclimatise them to our ways and customs." She quickly skipped over the other part of her duties, the part where she made sure the dangerous and unstable visitors never had a chance to 'acclimatise', if the woman needed to know about that, Kis would inform her at a more opportune time.

"I'm a decent tracker and scout, and know enough about the herbs of the wilds to be a fair healer in a pinch. If you'll have me along I'd be happy to accompany you on your journey." With that Kis quickly took a seat in the front row of the chamber, making herself a part of the crowd as she turned and shared some good humoured words with an old friend seated not far away.
