Decent concept @SimplyJohn, except for one thing... The Grand Master at the time of the Sacking, Zym, wasn't on Coruscant at the time.

Also, why would the Grand Master be summoning him anyways?

The fact Zym wasn't on Coruscant adds weight to the fact Som was still in meditation. Normally it would be a very short period (one night) between a Padawan finishing the Trials and being promoted, but in Som's case he was having to wait for the Grand Master's return and so his extended stay in the Tranquillity Spire left a far longer window for the Sith attack.

As for why the Grand Master would be summoning him...
"...If the Padawan passed each of the Trials, they would ascend to a private meditation chamber high in the Tranquillity Spire. Following a night of meditation and reflection, the Padawan was summoned to the Hall of Knighthood where the Grand Master of the Order would raise them to the rank of Knight and sever the Padawan braid."
The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, September 28, 2010

It might seem a bit excessive that the Grand Master would be promoting every Padawan within the Jedi ranks, but I do have canon to support the backstory (even if it's only Legend canon now.) :)

If you'd like a more solid in-game reason, with the peace accords with the Sith bringing the war to an end, the Jedi Order were standing down from a war footing and returning to the traditions of the past. As the first peacetime Jedi to be promoted to the rank of Knight following the end of hostilities, Som was going to be promoted by the Grand Master in a ceremony which was to be broadcast across the Republic as a sign that things were returning to normal.

It was all a staged propaganda exercise to help comfort the Republic citizens and get them back to work. :P

Even if this weren't the case and another Master was to preside over Som's promotion, it's unlikely he would've been made aware of this beforehand and so from his point-of-view he was awaiting a summons from the Grand Master, or at least the Grand Master's proxy.
@RomanAria Yessir, heading to the Mess Hall now, sir! ;)
I'll go for a Jedi Prisoner character, a male Mirialan Padawan named Som Lorso who had completed his Trials to become a Knight and was in a private meditation chamber high in the Tranquillity Spire awaiting a summons from he Grand Master of the Order when everything fell apart. As he was in isolation Som was unaware that anything was wrong until the door to his meditwation chamber was blown open by Sith troops and he was taken into custody.

While he has the powers and skills of a Knight, and his own customised lightsaber, he has yet to be recognised as one by his Jedi contemporaries.

Well, I'm just going to pass out for a while. I've been up for about forty hours straight at this point and haven't eaten any proper food since Wednesday so I think I deserve a bit of a rest. :)

With a smile on his face Geoff reached up to the special tankards hanging above the bar, pulling down one made of particularly thick glass. A moment later he produced a heavily warded magical bottle which he uncorked with careful hands, letting the toxic vapours clear for a moment before emptying a large porting of eye-wateringly strong acid into the waiting container.

Setting the bottle aside the barman reached into his pocket and produced two coins, one a silver shilling and the other a cheap copper coin. With a quick flick of his fingers he tossed both coins into the brew, pushing the tankard across the bar towards the waiting customer as the suitably foaming head began to crest the rim.

"One Electrick Floorbanger, extra spark," he announced proudly, holding out his hand for payment. The troll drink was notoriously hard to stomach for most races, but being half-troll himself Geoff enjoyed partaking in a snifter every now and then, when he had a week or two free to recover afterwards.
Any thoughts on Patch's infiltration plan? While the delivery sounds good, turning up in a car without anything to actually deliver might raise a few eyebrows, but turning up without a van or stuff to deliver and telling the guards it was stolen might work out for them.

It also plays into Patch's self-destructive nature to have his team mate punch him up a little, just to give himself the appearance of having been in a fight. With both his and Owl's medical knowledge on the team they can both make sure the wounds look serious while at the same time being superficial.

Owl's Conversationalist/Psychology skills would help deal with the guards without having to draw any weapons and Jack's Athletics and Stealth would make a covert approach optimal.
Patch turned to Jack with a worried look in his eyes, "We're not going to be able to all bluff our way in together with Elissa in this state, there's no way the guards would ever buy that she's a here for a delivery, especially not in this car." Looking out of the window into the black night Patch started weighting up the options. A moment later he slammed his hand down on the steering wheel angrily. "I should've brought the van instead. Damn, that was a stupid mistake."

He could feel his emotions rising, and having to deal with Elissa wasn't making things any easier. Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes and counted to ten, letting his logical mind take control as he let a plan form before turning to the others with a hopeful smile. "Okay, I think I have something, but I'll need you to hit me."

The plan was simple. There were two easy ways into the building, the roof and the front door. The roof would probably mean having to climb up on top of the building before being able to get inside and while he and Jack could probably do that in their sleep Patch wasn't so sure about Elissa, and he'd rather not risk her life, and the success of the mission, on her not flaking out halfway up. The front door would mean having to try and talk their way passed the guards, preferably Patch would've liked to get the guards out of the way so they could do a little shopping while the team was inside the warehouse, but given the circumstances leaving that job to the resident thief was probably the best bet.

As far as his plan went, Patch thought sending Jack to the roof access while he and Elissa approached the guards at the front door was the best option. If she told them they'd been attacked and that their delivery van had been grabbed then they might be able to lure some of the guards away from the building, if that failed then getting the two of them inside would be the next objective. The worst case would be simply delaying the guards for as long as possible while Jack got the job done and got out before the explosives went off.

As quickly as possible he laid out his idea for the others and waited to see what they thought of it.
